Ask the students to think of the rules at the museum and the hospital.
Step 3: Divide the board in half. At the top of one, write We must… Tell the
students these are things they have to do in a museum / hospital. At the top
of the other, write We mustn’t … Tell the students these are things that we
cannot do in a museum/ hospital. Write down the rules that the students
suggest in the correct section.
Step 4: Open the books and read the dialogue. Role-play the dialogue in
pairs.

1. Ask the pupils to read the library rules then look at the picture. Takl with
the class about what each of the students in the pictures is doning, e.g
What’s Kevin doing?
2. Ask them to write down what each child is doning wrong in the list
below. Remind the pupils that they should only use must or mustn’t.
Check the answers with the class.
3. Then ask them to turn to page 7 and loook at the pictures of the museum
and the Children’s Palace. Ask them to choose one of the locations.
4. Put the pupils in groups of three and ask them to discuss the rules in a
museum and a Children’s Palace. Many fo the rules will be the same.
Ask them to make notes using must and mustn’t.
5. Then ask the students to return to their desks and use their notes to fill in
the blandks in the letter to parents at the bottom of the page. Put a model
sentence on the board to help the pupils. They should use complete
sentences. Walk around the class and help the pupils.
6. Go through the answers with the class. Ask more confident pupils to
read out their completed letters to the class. Write answers on the board.
Step 3. G. Listen and chant
1, Play the Pupil’s Book CAI for the pupils to listen to the chant.
2.Play the CAI agein and encourage the pupils to join in with thewords.

Step1. E Read the symbols and say the words.
1. Write the symbols for the sounds on the board. Write the words on the
page under each symbol. Ask the students. Ask some students to tell you
other words with the same sounds add them to the list.
2. Play Pupil’s Book CAI and ask tehm pupil to listen to the sounds and
the words.
3. Say the words slowly and clearly. Check that the pupils are making a
distinction between the sounds and pronouncing them correctly.
4. Point to the pictures and check that the pupil can say the words witheout
your model.
5. Play the Pupil’s Book CAI again. Ask the pupils to listen to the rhyme.
6. Play CAI again. Ask the pupil to join in whith the words of the rhyme
this time.
7. Play the Pupil’s Book CAI. Ask the pupil to listen to the words and ten
write them under the correct symbols.

1. Talk to the pupils aobut what rules they follow out on the street.
2. Ask them to draw some street signs. Ask them what the mean.
3. Tell the pupils to look at the sentences below and circle the correct
words according to what they have read in the passage.
4. Check the answers with the pupils.
Step 3. H. Think about it. Circle the correct answer.
Explain t the pupil that different countries have different emergency
numbers. Tell the pupil to circle the correct emergency number for the USA.
