Welcome back to the show.
Today our lesson is called "Office Supplies."
And those are things that you need in an office, like paper clips or notebooks,
pens and pencils.
And Megan is making sure that there are enough supplies at the office.
So what does she order the most?
Like Katie said, pens, pencils and envelopes.
But she orders other things, too.
Now let's see what else happens in Conversation C.
Maybe you can order some printer ink, too.
Are we out again?
No, not yet.
But there is only one more box.
We use the printers a lot!
What else do we need?
I need a way to organize my desk!
There are a lot of papers on my desk!
You need some folders to put your papers in.
Then I need a lot of folders.
(Music).
Megan already has so much to do.
But now Susie is giving her even more work.
She's asking for more supplies.
Susie's not trying to make Megan busier, Nathan.
She's really just trying to help her out.
Don't you think so, everyone?
Well, I don't think it's much help to give Megan more things to order, Katie.
Well, no. But Susie is letting Megan know what office supplies they need.
If Susie didn't tell her, Megan will just have to go look by herself.
Oh. Well, I didn't think of it that way.
Megan doesn't want anything to run out, so I guess that is a way to help Megan.
But now, you're giving Christina more work to do, Nathan.
You just used a pattern that she needs to explain to us.
(Chinese).
Thanks, Christina.
Sorry. I didn't mean to make you busier.
Oh, Nathan, I was just joking with you earlier.
Christina always gives us some help on Let's Talk in English.
But I need some help from you now.
Oh, so you're going to try to give me more work now!
Well, what help do you need?
Well, Susie needs a way to organize her desk.
So Megan thinks she needs some folders.
How will folders help Susie organize?
Oh, well, you can put papers about different things in different folders, and
then you know where those papers are.
You know where things are when you need them.
I love organizing things.
Well, good for you.
But I don't.
Well, I don't like cleaning that much but you do.
Different people like different things.
You're right.
So you need to clean, I need to organize.
And we all need to learn today's Calendar Phrase.
I need to organize.
I need to organize.
(Chinese).
Your desk is a mess.
I know.
I need to organize.
You have papers everywhere.
I know.
I need to organize.
You have stuff everywhere.
I know.
I need to organize.
Should I put my stuff in folders?
No.
You should put your stuff in the trash.
I need to organize.
I need to organize.
(Chinese).
Maybe that was a good reminder for some of you at home.
Now we have time to look at just one more little word from this conversation:
"out."
You might think: What! That's an easy word.
But it has a special meaning here.
Megan asks if they are out of printer ink.
She means is all the ink gone again?
That's right.
And now we are all out of time.
Our time is gone for teaching.
So let's start reviewing our key words together.
Here's the first key word:
office.
office.
Katie works in an office.
envelope.
envelope.
Put the letter in the envelope.
eraser.
eraser.
I need an eraser.
I made a mistake.
printer.
printer.
Is there a printer for this computer?
ink.
ink.
There's no ink in this pen.
folder.
folder.
Put the papers in the folder.
Try to remember all of those key words.
Now let's continue our review for today.
We need to go back and look at today's conversations.
Hi, Megan.
Where is Carol?
She's in a meeting.
OK.
What are you doing?
I'm checking Carol's office supplies.
I check all the office supplies.
Why? We have lots of supplies.
That's because I count and organize them.
When we are running out, I order more.
How often do you make an order?
Usually about once a month.
What do you order the most?
We use a lot of pens and pencils.
I always order those.
How about envelopes?
I order a lot of envelopes, too.
What about paper clips, tape and erasers?
Sometimes I order them.
I should order some today.
Do you order stationery or notebooks?
Not often.
But I need to order special stationery for Carol sometimes.
Maybe you can order some printer ink, too.
Are we out again?
No, not yet.
But there is only one more box.
We use the printers a lot.
What else do we need?
I need a way to organize my desk!
There are a lot of papers on my desk!
You need some folders to put your papers in.
Then I need a lot of folders.
(Music).
What are you doing, Monkey Man?
I'm making a list of supplies.
Oh. What kind of supplies?
Supplies for taking care of monkeys.
Oh. What's on your list?
Paper towels.
I'll order some paper towels.
What for?
To clean up your messes.
Oops. Good idea.
Yes. And I'll order soap, too.
What for?
To keep you from smelling!
Good idea.
Yeah.
Well, what else should I order, Ginger?
Uh, banana supplies.
Banana supplies! What for?
To keep monkeys happy.
Oh, good idea.
Banana supplies. Yeah.
Whatever that is.
Yeah.
(Music).
What a great song!
I think we can all learn something from it.
If we dare to dream, who knows where we can go or what we can be.
So we hope you all dream big.
Dreaming about doing important things and making the world a better place is
something very good.
But also remember that it takes work to make dreams come true.
And learning English is a lot of work.
It's not easy and it's not always fun.
You have to learn words for things like office supplies and weather.
But we hope that we can help you have a good time learning English.
Then you can go out and use what you have learned.
So, go ahead.
That's the end of our show.
We'll see you in May here on... Let's Talk in English. Goodbye.
