Hi, everybody.
My name is Katie.
Are you ready for some review today?
After so many lessons this week, there's a lot that we need to try and remember.
The best way to do that is to repeat it.
My name is Nathan.
Now some people learn things the first time they hear it, but many people need
to hear things a few times.
When I try to learn words in other languages, I have to hear them many times so
I can remember them.
Don't feel bad if you are the same.
Right.
Most people are that way.
And right now, you can listen for this week's key words as we go through our
conversations.
So how many can you remember?
We will see.
But right now it's time to watch those conversations again.
(Music).
Did you have a nice Easter, Susie?
Yes, I did, Rob.
Did you?
Yes, thanks.
What did you do?
I went to church.
Then I went over to a friend's house for dinner.
That's nice.
What did you do?
I went to church, too.
I really enjoyed the music there.
I love the music at Easter.
Did you have a good weekend, Megan?
I did! I helped with an Easter egg hunt on Saturday.
Where was the hunt?
It was in City Park.
We hid more than 2,000 eggs!
That is a lot of eggs!
Yes.
Hundreds of children came to the hunt.
They found all the eggs.
And they had lots of fun!
How was your Easter, Jim?
Good, thank you, Carol.
How was yours?
Wonderful.
I sang in the choir at my church.
We have a really big choir!
How big?
There are almost 100 people in it.
That is a lot.
We sang some wonderful songs about Jesus and new life.
That's great!
(Music).
Hi, Susie.
Did you cook a big dinner on Easter?
No. I went to a friend's house for dinner.
I went to a friend's house, too.
There was a lot of food!
What did you eat, Jim?
We had ham.
Of course.
That's traditional.
It is.
And it was good ham.
And we had potatoes and two different vegetables, fruit and...
There was a lot of food!
I had lamb for Easter dinner.
It was delicious.
Lamb is good.
But it's not my favorite thing to eat on Easter.
I know.
My favorite are the desserts!
Did you have some chocolate on Easter?
Yes! My friend made a big chocolate cake.
She decorated it with jelly beans!
And you ate a piece?
Yes. I had a big piece!
So what's your favorite Easter food, Mark?
I like ham.
But I really like chocolate bunnies!
So you ate chocolate bunnies for Easter dinner?
No! I had ham, potatoes and fresh fruit with my friends.
And my friend's wife baked rolls.
They were great!
And for dessert?
Chocolate bunnies, of course!
You can never have too many chocolate bunnies.
That's right!
(Music).
This salad is delicious.
Try some!
You're right.
That is delicious.
The dressing tastes so... so...
It's a little sweet.
And a little sour.
Yes. What is that flavor?
Can I try some?
Sure! Have some.
Ah! I taste lemon.
The dressing has a lemon flavor.
This pasta dish is really good, too.
Try some, Susie.
OK.
Mmm, that's good.
What kind of meat is in it?
It's chicken.
The sauce is delicious.
I like the herbs and spices.
What else does the sauce have in it?
The sauce has cream and butter in it.
Yum! Can I try some?
Susie, what are you eating?
I'm eating cheese fries!
Try one!
Oh, wow!
These French fries are amazing!
You're right!
Wow! French fries taste even better with cheese!
May I have another one, Susie?
Me, too?
Sure!
I'm sorry. We're eating all your fries.
That's OK.
Let's order more cheese fries.
We can share!
(Music).
Sherry, welcome to the show.
You're a chef with a great goal.
Can you explain it?
I want to cook healthy food.
But the food must taste great, too!
Healthy food does taste a little bad sometimes.
When I was young, I thought healthy food tasted horrible!
Why did you change your mind?
I started to cook healthy food in different ways.
Different ways?
Like what?
Here's an example.
I used to hate broccoli.
Broccoli is really healthy.
But it doesn't always taste very good.
Right.
So I cooked it with some salt and pepper and a little lemon juice.
And it tasted great!
Do you like broccoli now?
Yes! I cook it all the time!
Tell us some other healthy cooking tips!
When you cook chicken, bake it!
Don't fry it.
Fried chicken isn't healthy.
Right.
And when you cook something, try to use less salt.
A little salt is OK,
but use other spices instead.
That's good to know!
One more thing:
If you're cooking vegetables, steam them.
Don't fry them!
Then add your favorite herbs!
Thanks for the tips, Sherry!
(Music).
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to Let's Talk.
Do you want to learn how to be a better student?
Well, then listen carefully to our guest today.
Please help me welcome Ms. Sara Student!
(Background Noise).
Welcome to our show, Sara!
We're glad to have a student here to talk about studying.
Thank you, Rob.
What tips do you have for us about studying?
Don't put off studying!
Many students do.
Then they cram the night before the exam.
I used to do that.
And how did you do?
Not very well.
And I soon forgot most of what I studied.
That's the problem!
So students need better study habits.
Yes, we do.
I try to spend time every day studying each class's information.
Then I'm better prepared for the tests.
And you actually learn more.
I do.
I also plan rewards into my study time.
What do you mean?
I tell myself things like, I'll read 20 pages of this book.
When I finish, I can play one computer game.
But only one!
And I choose a quiet place to study.
Then I turn off my cellphone.
Good idea.
Then you're not interrupting your studies to text your friends!
Yes. And believe it or not, sleeping is part of studying.
Really!
Yes! When you sleep, your brain organizes what you've learned.
I try to sleep at least eight hours a night.
That's a good habit for everyone!
(Music).
We talked about some really useful things this week.
One was food.
Everyone needs to know how to talk about that.
And studying is really important, too.
I think that was a great lesson.
I'm not a student now, but it still gave me some great ideas for learning.
Well, let's see how much you learned with a picture question, Nathan.
You can answer at home, too, everyone.
OK.
What key words do you see here?
Um. Katie, I thought we talked about Easter dinners this week.
And that picture doesn't look like what people usually eat at Easter.
Well, no.
But our HOLIDAY lesson was about Easter.
But our FOOD lesson was about other things, remember?
Oh, that's right.
In our FOOD lesson, Mark was eating pasta.
"Pasta" is a key word.
And there is pasta in that picture.
You're right.
But there are more key words.
This pasta in that picture has tomato...
Sauce?
Was that a key word?
Yes, it was!
Mark had cream sauce, remember?
And Jim wanted to try it.
Hey, Jim was eating a... a salad!
And there's a salad in the picture, too.
Yes. So?
Oh! "Salad" is a key word, too.
I forgot.
I think I need a break.
But we'll be back with more in a few minutes.
