Welcome back to the show, everyone.
This is the second part of our EASTER lesson.
Today we learned all the things that our friends ate for Easter.
And we eat... we find out that we eat lots of different foods on different
holidays.
And we also learned a great pattern.
If you want to know what your friend ate for dinner, you can just say: What did
you have for dinner?
Let's see what else we will learn in Conversation C.
So what's your favorite Easter food, Mark?
I like ham.
But I really like chocolate bunnies!
So you ate chocolate bunnies for Easter dinner?
No!
I had ham, potatoes and fresh fruit with my friends.
And my friend's wife baked rolls.
They were great!
And for dessert?
Chocholate bunnies, of course!
You can never have too many chocolate bunnies.
That's right!
Well, we heard about Jim's Easter dinner with ham and vegetables.
Then we heard about Susie's dinner with lamb and chocolate cake for dessert.
Now it's Mark's turn.
Mark also had dinner with friends, like Susie and Jim.
That makes it a lot more fun.
Hey. I wonder if Mark had dinner with Jim.
I don't think so.
They would have said something about that earlier.
Why do you think they might have eaten together?
Well, Mark said he had ham, potatoes and fresh fruit.
Those were the same things that Jim had for dinner.
Oh, I see.
But Mark also had rolls.
Jim didn't talk about rolls.
Rolls are so good.
If my friend baked rolls, I would say that for sure.
Hmm, maybe.
But Mark stopped Jim before he could say all the food that they had.
There was a lot of food, remember?
That's true.
But why would Jim ask Mark what he had for dessert?
Because... Oh, you must be right.
Jim would have known about the chocolate bunnies.
You can never have too many chocolate bunnies.
They are so good.
You're right.
Well, now let's see what Christina has to say about that pattern.
(Music).
(Chinese).
(Music).
Good one, Christina.
You can always make more friends.
That's much more important than shoes or chocolate bunnies.
I think so, too.
Now you might think that it's very strange there are chocolate bunnies.
But in Easter, we often talk about the Easter bunny that brings Easter eggs.
And today he brought us some key words.
So let's go back and look at the key words we have learned today.
Try to remember them and say them with us now.
Here is the first key word.
ham.
ham.
Nancy ate a ham sandwich for lunch.
lamb.
lamb.
Mom cooked lamb for dinner.
potato.
potato.
Tom can eat a lot of potatoes!
roll.
roll.
Jim loves to eat rolls with butter.
fresh.
fresh.
Fresh fish is delicious!
OK, everyone, those are all the key words that we learned today.
Did you remember them?
They are helpful when you're talking about holidays like Easter or just food in
general.
Now let's continue our review.
It's time to look back at today's conversations.
Hi, Susie.
Did you cook a big dinner on Easter?
No. I went to a friend's house for dinner.
I went to a friend's house, too.
There was a lot of food!
What did you eat, Jim?
We had ham.
Of course.
That's traditional.
It is.
And it was good ham.
And we had potatoes and two different vegetables, fruit and...
There was a lot of food!
I had lamb for Easter dinner.
It was delicious.
Lamb is good.
But it's not my favorite thing to eat on Easter.
I know.
My favorite are the desserts!
Did you have some chocolate on Easter?
Yes! My friend made a big chocolate cake.
She decorated it with jelly beans!
And you ate a piece?
Yes. I had a big piece!
Chocolate bunnies, of course!
You can never have too many chocolate bunnies.
That's right!
(Music).
So, Monkey Man, what did you do for Easter?
Well, I went to church.
Church?
What did you do there?
I sang songs about Jesus and new life.
Oh, I like church songs.
What did you do after church?
I had dinner with friends.
Ooh. What did you eat, Monkey Man?
Ham, and lamb, and pototoes, and vegetables and rolls.
Yummy, yummy, yummy.
And we ate fresh fruit.
Strawberries, apples, bananas...
Bananas! Yummy, yummy, yummy!
And we had cake with jelly beans on top.
Oh. That sounds so yummy!
And for dessert, we had chocolate monkeys!
Chocolate monkeys?
No, just kidding.
We ate chocolate bunnies.
Chocolate monkeys, very funny.
I had you there.
Yeah.
What do you got here?
It's here.
It's now.
It's what you've been waiting for.
Let's Play!
And who are our players?
Hi, everybody.
I'm Larry.
I'm Tricia.
Good to see you again.
Uh... Joe?
Well, he is smiley Joe.
And you are a player, too.
So play with us.
Rhyme Time is our game for today.
Rhyme?
Yes. Rhyme.
I'm sure you all know what a rhyme is.
So let's get started.
A key word from today or yesterday rhymes with the word "ride."
Which key word is it?
Hey, lots of our key words rhyme , Mr. Host.
What?
I don't think so, Larry.
Sure they do.
"Hunt," "hide" and "ham" all start with the letter H.
Larry, darling.
I think that the ends of the words have to sound the same, not the beginnings.
Like "rhyme" and "time."
Right.
Thank you, Tricia.
And ride doesn't start with "H" anyway.
"Ham" and "lamb."
Smiley Joe, you can only choose one word.
But "ham" and "lamb" rhyme, don't they?
Yeah. Their ends sound the same.
Yes, yes, yes.
It's wonderful that they rhyme, but they don't rhyme with the word "ride."
Why is this game always so much trouble?
Hey, rhyming is hard.
The answer's just on the card that you guard.
It doesn't sound too hard for you.
Hide.
No. You silly boys.
The answer is "hide."
It rhymes with "ride."
Ooh, of course.
Right!
"Hide" is the rhyming key word.
Tricia is our winner.
But thank you all for playing.
And make sure you come back again to...
Let's Play!
Well, after today's lesson, I think you can make your own food for Easter next
year.
You know many of the things that you can have for dinner on Easter now.
Yeah. And if you have a garden like we learned earlier this week,
you can grow some of the food for Easter yourself.
Now if you haven't celebrated Easter before, you should find out more about it.
I think it is one of the best holidays.
Oh, it is a great holiday.
The weather is so beautiful in the spring.
You can have a great meal with friends and family.
But you can also remember that Jesus is alive, and that is the most important
thing on this holiday.
Even if you did not know about this holiday before,
we hope you enjoyed learning about Easter the last two days.
Well, tomorrow we have a brand new lesson for you.
So come back and learn something new right here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Bye-bye.
(Music).
