Welcome back, everyone.
Yesterday was Easter.
And our friends did some different things on Easter.
Do you do anything for that holiday?
Maybe you can go to church.
Or some people have Easter egg hunts where kids usually look for Easter eggs.
Well, let's see what else we have to learn about this holiday in Conversation C.
How was your Easter, Jim?
Good, thank you, Carol.
How was yours?
Wonderful.
I sang in the choir at my church.
We have a really big choir!
How big?
There are almost 100 people in it!
That is a lot.
We sang some wonderful songs about Jesus and new life.
That's great!
(Music).
Susie talked about music at church and now Carol did, too.
If you haven't been to a church before, you may not know that there is a lot of
music there.
Nathan, you just said, "If you haven't been to a church..."
Shouldn't you just say "been to church"?
We already talked about that today.
Well, no. You can say "been to a church."
Remember, church can mean a building or a place.
But we often use it for something that happens, too.
Yes, that's right.
But if we go to a church every week, we usually just say that we go to church.
I hope that's not too hard to understand.
Oh, I'm sure they can understand, Katie.
They are great at English.
But let's talk more about music at church now.
At most churches, people sing in big groups.
Do you ever sing in big groups, everyone?
That can be really fun.
Even if you don't like to sing by yourself, singing in groups is great.
Right.
It is such a good feeling when everyone around you knows a song and sings it
together.
What are some other times when people might sing together, Katie?
Well, sometimes people sing together at parties.
Like birthday parties or New Year's parties.
And people sing together when they go to KTV, too.
Well, those are both great times to sing.
Now people that really like to sing may also be in a choir like Carol.
Choirs are a group of people that sing together often.
But choirs also learn and practice music together.
Then they sing for other people to hear.
Some churches have choirs, and schools often have choirs.
Oh, yeah. I miss being in my school choirs.
But now I can be in a choir at work.
Not many places have choirs, but we have one here at LTE TV.
Yes, we do.
Sometimes I get to hear them sing in the morning.
Nathan, how big is our choir here at the office?
How big?
Well, we have probably about 15 people.
But now we are almost out of time, friends.
But we don't want to forget our Calendar Phrase.
(Music).
How big?
How big?
(Chinese).
Did you go fishing?
Yes. And I caught a big fish.
How big?
It was 10 pounds.
How big?
It was five pounds.
How big?
It was three pounds.
How big?
It was one pound.
Almost.
How small!
How big?
How big?
(Chinese).
OK, everyone, now it's time to review today's key words.
The first one is:
Easter.
Easter.
Easter is my favorite spring holiday.
church.
church.
We can learn about God at church.
hunt.
hunt.
This is a book hunt.
Try to find a book!
hide.
hide.
Where did you hide the candy?
sing.
sing.
Kevin plays the piano and sings.
I hope you can remember all of those key words.
Now let's review today's conversations.
Did you have a nice Easter, Susie?
Yes, I did, Rob.
Did you?
Yes, thanks.
What did you do?
I went to church.
Then I went over to a friend's house for dinner.
That's nice.
What did you do?
I went to church, too.
I really enjoyed the music there.
I love the music at Easter.
Did you have a good weekend, Megan?
I did!
I helped with an Easter egg hunt on Saturday.
Where was the hunt?
It was in City Park.
We hid more than 2,000 eggs!
That is a lot of eggs!
Yes. Hundreds of children came to the hunt.
They found all the eggs.
And they had lots of fun!
How was your Easter, Jim?
Good, thank you, Carol.
How was yours?
Wonderful.
I sang in the choir at my church.
We have a really big choir!
How big?
There are almost 100 people in it.
That is a lot.
We sang some wonderful songs about Jesus and new life.
That's great!
(Music).
Where, where, where?
Ginger, what are you looking for?
I'm looking for Easter eggs.
Oh, an Easter egg hunt.
Yeah.
I'm looking, looking, looking.
Well, how many eggs did you find?
I didn't find any.
Ginger, don't cry.
Don't cry.
I'll help you find some eggs.
You will?
Of course!
Oh, hooray!
OK, Monkey Man, uh... look under your arm.
No. There's no egg there.
Oh. Or look under your feet.
No. There's no egg there, either.
Oh. Or look under your hat.
In my hat?
Yeah.
Ginger, there is no egg in my hat.
How do you know?
You didn't look.
OK, fine.
I'll look in my hat, but...
Hey. There's an egg in my hat.
Yay! Yay! I found an Easter egg.
Only 1,999 more to find.
Hooray.
Let's go.
(Music).
Now let's Answer It!
Question One.
What did Carol do on Easter?
What did Carol do on Easter?
Well, the answer is in Conversation C.
She sang in the choir at her church.
OK. Here is question two.
What do you do on Easter?
Tell someone.
What do you do on Easter?
Tell someone.
Now let's see what our friends do.
(Music).
What do I do on Easter?
On Easter, I like to spend time with my family.
On Easter Sunday, I can see all of my uncles, aunts, and cousins.
We go to church.
Easter Sunday is a beautiful Sunday to be at church.
The music is wonderful.
After the church service, I like to have Easter dinner and then to decorate
eggs.
I'm too old for Easter egg hunts.
But I still enjoy the chocolate.
What do I do on Easter?
I have fun.
Well, I want to go to church, but I can't.
Monkeys don't go to church.
So after church, I go on an Easter egg hunt.
I look here, and I look there.
I look everywhere until I find an Easter egg.
And then I'm so happy.
Yeah. I love Easter!
What do you do on Easter?
What do I do on Easter?
Well, a lot of people go to church on Easter Sunday.
So I go to church, too.
Many churches have special events.
Some churches have picnics.
The church that I go to has a picnic.
We go outside and we share food that we made ahead of time.
It's a good time to spend with friends and to meet new people.
I like Easter Sundays a lot.
What do I do on Easter?
On Easter, I spend the time studying for my exams.
Easter is a holiday.
And for students, it means more time to work on assignments.
I will take my books and choose a good spot out in the field where I can lay
down on the grass to study.
It is such a relaxing thing to do on Easter.
Although, some students might crowd around me trying to look for Easter eggs.
OK, everyone.
The LTE TV choir is going to sing you an Easter song right now.
(Music). See you next time on Let's Talk in English.
