Welcome back, everyone.
Today our lesson is called A Table for Four.
We've learned that Carol needed to make reservations at a restaurant.
And what do you need when you make a reservation?
You need to know how many people you will eat with and what time you want to go
to the restaurant.
And making reservations are very important.
Restaurants can be crowded at lunchtime or dinnertime.
You need to call before you go.
All right. Let's see what happens in Conversation C.
Hi, Megan.
Can you help me?
Sure, Mark.
What can I do?
Can you change the reservation for The Blue Fish to four people?
I guess so. Why?
I'm joining Carol, Rob and the guest for lunch.
Carol invited me.
OK.
I can try.
The restaurant is very busy today.
OK.
Thanks for trying, Megan.
Megan is helping everyone today, Nathan.
First Carol needs her help making a reservation.
So she calls the restaurant.
And now Mark needs some help, too.
Yes.
Megan is busy today.
But she's so good at her job.
That's why everyone is asking her for her help.
But Megan's really nice.
She says, "Sure, Mark. What can I do?" Asking "What can I do?" shows that you
want to help someone.
It's very nice.
And Mark needs Megan's help.
He needs her to change the reservation at The Blue Fish.
Remember, Carol asks for a reservation for just three people.
But Mark needs the reservation to be for four people now.
Why?
Because he is joining Carol, Rob and the guest for lunch.
And hey, that's also today's Use It sentence.
Let's take a look.
(Music).
Today we're going to learn how to use the pattern:
I'm joining someone for something.
For example:
I'm joining my parents for dinner.
Or... I'm joining my coworkers for a barbecue.
Now don't be afraid to use it.
Thank you, Elizabeth.
Now, friends, do you ever join people for something?
You can join your friends for a movie.
You can join your parents for dinner one night like Elizabeth said.
That's right.
It's fun to join people for fun things to do.
But Mark is going to join everyone for lunch.
Carol invited him to go.
Inviting someone is a good pattern for everyone to know.
If you invite someone to do something, you ask them to do something or go
somewhere with you.
Maybe you invite your friends to your party.
You want them to come to your party.
Or maybe you invite people to go on a trip with you.
You don't want to go alone, so you can invite them to go with you.
So Carol invited Mark along.
She wants him to go.
But Megan does not know if she can change the reservation now.
OK. That's true.
Sometimes you can't change your reservation.
Sometimes the restaurant is too busy and there are no other tables there.
Well, I guess we'll see if Megan is able to change the reservation later.
I hope it works out.
But right now we need to finish our teaching for today and move on to practice
our key words together.
Say them with us.
Here's the first key word.

All right, everyone, those are all the key words that we have for you today.
Make sure that you practice them because they will help you if you go to a
restaurant.
Right now we want to continue our lessons and look back at our conversations.
Megan, can you call The Blue Fish for me?
Sure, Carol.
Do you want to order food?
No. I want to make a reservation.
I have an important guest today.
OK. So I can make a reservation for two at...
Make a reservation for three at 1:00.
Rob will come, too.
OK.
I can call right now!
Hi, Megan.
What are you doing?
I'm looking for the phone number for The Blue Fish.
Here it is.
Oh, I love The Blue Fish!
A lot of people like the food there.
Are you ordering lunch?
No. I'm reserving a table for Carol.
That's a good idea.
The Blue Fish is crowded at lunch.
(Music).
Hey, Monkey Man.
Who are you calling?
I'm calling The Blue Fish.
You're calling a fish.
That's just silly!
No. I'm calling a fancy restaurant.
It's called The Blue Fish.
Oh. Why are you calling a fancy restaurant?
I'm making reservations.
Reservations?
Yeah. I'm making reservations for tonight.
Reservations for two.
Hooray!
We're going to a fancy restaurant. Yeah!
Uh, sorry, Ginger.
I'm going to a fancy restaurant.
But you made reservations for two.
One, two, me and you.
No, Ginger.
I have a date.
One, two, but not with you.
Hello, Blue Fish?
Yes, yes.
OK, everyone, today we are going to Answer It!
Here is question one.
What time is the reservation for?
What time is the reservation for?
You can find the answer in Conversation A.
The reservation is for 1:00.
OK. Question two.
What is your favorite restaurant?
Tell someone about it.
What is your favorite restaurant?
Tell someone about it.
Now let's hear what our friends have to say about this question.
My favorite restaurant is an Indian restaurant.
I love Indian food, especially the curry.
There are different kinds of curry such as the red curry, yellow curry and green
curry.
These different curries have different flavors.
Each curry is made with many spices, so the flavor is very strong.
I also love naan.
Naan is a piece of flat bread served with the Indian food.
Besides the plain naan, I also like the garlic naan.
Naan and curry taste perfect together.
What is my favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is any restaurant where someone inside needs my help -
because I am Super Sentence Man,
and people always have trouble with their English.
So I can come to help them and give them a super sentence.
I will go to my favorite restaurant to do that.
I hear someone calling from a great restaurant right now.
I'm coming to help you!
What is my favorite restaurant?
Any place with great food and low prices.
I especially like hamburgers and fried chicken and French fries.
But my favorite place also has decorations all over.
It has toys on the wall.
It has pictures to look at.
It's a lot of fun.
And the waiters are friendly, too.
Sometimes they sing songs.
I love that place.
What is my favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is a place called Mica's Diner.
Why do I like the diner?
Because they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And they serve both Western food and Chinese food.
That way, I can have pancakes for lunch and I can have fried rice for dinner.
I love Mica's Diner.
Friends, we're glad that you joined us for our lesson today.
Make sure that you come back for part two tomorrow right here on...
Let's Talk in English. Goodbye.
