Welcome back, everyone.
This is the second day of our WEATHER lesson.
And we're talking about rainy days.
We learned yesterday that rainy days can cause problems, but they can be very
good, too.
Right.
Rainy days are good for doing some things that you may not usually have time
for, like reading or watching a movie or playing games.
Well, let's see what happens in Conversation C now.
If I'm with family or friends, I like to play board games.
Or video games!
I love video games.
Stormy nights are perfect for scary movies, too!
Or making crafts!
What about you, Mark?
What do you like to do on rainy days?
I like to sleep.
You're always sleeping!
Well, it's always raining!
(Music).
Oh, wow! There are so many things that rainy days are good for.
Do you think we can talk about them all, Nathan?
Oh, no problem.
First, Megan thinks they are good for board games.
What is your favorite board game like, Katie?
Well, it's like a word game, where you have to make words out of all the letters
that you have.
But everyone, you can only play board games if you are with your family and
friends.
Right.
No one plays board games by themselves.
But Katie, what you said sounded a little like today's Use It sentence.
(Music).
It's time to learn how to use the pattern:
If I'm with someone, I like to do something.
For example:
If I'm with my mom, I like to shop.
Or... If I'm with Bruce, I like to watch movies.
Friends, don't forget to use it.
Well, thanks for all your help, Elizabeth.
If I'm with you, I like to learn.
So, let's keep going.
Rob and Mark both think that rainy days are good for video games.
Hmm. Well, I don't play many video games, but some people really like them.
What about you, Katie?
What about me?
Wait! What about you?
What about... Calendar Phrase?
What about you?
What about you?
(Chinese).
I'm hungry.
What about you?
Yeah. Me, too.
I want fast food.
What about you?
Yeah. Me, too.
I want a hot dog.
What about you?
Yeah. Me, too. But I don't have any money.
What about you?
No. I don't have any, either.
What about you?
What about you?
(Chinese).
I forgot that was our Calendar Phrase today.
We use it all the time on the show.
But what do you think about video games, Katie?
Well, I think that they can be fun, but I don't want to spend a lot of time
playing video games.
But we need to keep moving to talk about the other things you can do on rainy
days.
And stormy nights are perfect for scary movies.
Oh, that is perfect.
Lots of scary movies have stormy nights in them.
So if you watch a scary movie on a stormy night, you might feel like you're in
the movie.
Woo, and then it will be even scarier.
But Megan likes making crafts on rainy days when she has extra time.
Nathan, do you remember her craft vlog?
Oh, yeah. She makes videos about crafts to put online.
Maybe she does that on rainy days, too.
But Mark just sleeps.
The sound of the rain is good for sleeping.
Yes. But don't sleep too much because you'll miss all the time to do other
things, like practicing your key words.
We can do that now.
So say them with us.
fresh.
fresh.
Does this shirt smell fresh?
rainbow.
rainbow.
There are seven colors in a rainbow.
blanket.
blanket.
It is cold.
Use a blanket.
board game.
board game.
Monopoly is my favorite board game.
stormy.
stormy.
The stormy weather was scary.
I hope you can remember all of those key words so that you can use them later.
Right now it's time for us to review today's conversations.
Thanks for talking with me, Julie!
No problem, Jim.
It rains a lot in April.
Do you like rainy days?
I do! I love rainy days.
I love the fresh smell after it rains.
What is your favorite thing about rainy days?
Rainbows!
They're so pretty!
They sure are!
We may see one soon!
Is it still raining?
Yes! It's rained every day this week!
Rainy days can be fun.
You can do many different things on rainy days.
That's true.
What kind of things do you guys do on rainy days?
I love to sit under a blanket and read a good book.
Rainy days are good for listening to music, too.
(Music).
Ginger, it's another rainy day!
Rain, rain, go away!
Come again another day!
So you don't like rainy days, do you?
No, no, no, no, no!
Well, I do.
I like the fresh smell.
I don't smell anything.
Well, I also like the rainbows.
They're so pretty.
I don't see any rainbows.
Ginger, rainbows are outside, not inside.
Yeah. And we're inside.
I want to be outside.
But you can do many different things inside.
Like what, Monkey Man?
Well, you can read under a blanket.
That's strange.
Or you can listen to music.
Huh, boring!
Or you can play board games.
Now what do you want to do?
Go outside!
Welcome to our show, everyone.
Let's Play!
Today's players are:
I'm Patty.
And I'm Jen.
Patty, Jen and... ah, right, our third player is...
Sorry, everyone. Sorry.
I'm Roger.
The weather outside is really bad.
That's why I'm late.
Hi! What's your name?
I'm Jen, and I'm going to win!
Jen, you'd better try hard.
You wouldn't guess it, but Roger always wins.
Well, he's never played with Jen.
Well, let's play Yes or No!
You can ask me questions about today's word right here on this card.
Um. The ladies first.
Patty?
Oh, is the word about weather? There were a lot of key words about weather
today.
And yesterday, too.
It is about weather, Patty.
OK, the next question.
Can you believe how weather was outside, Jen?
It was really wet.
Wet. Hey. Is the word wet?
Uh, no. Not wet.
But not a bad answer.
I mean... it's not just wet.
It's rainy out there.
Oh, that's a good one.
How about rainy?
Well, you're getting closer.
No more questions?
Well, is it about bad weather?
It is, Patty.
Good job.
You know what?
Rainy isn't right for today's weather, either.
I mean it's just...
It's.... it's stormy!
Wait, wait.
Oh, I know.
Stormy.
Jen, thank you.
But Roger did say it first.
So Roger wins again.
Amazing!
Patty, Jen, thank you for playing.
And of course you, too.
Come back and see us again on...
Let's Play!
Did you know that there are so many things to do on rainy days?
Reading, playing, watching, sleeping, you can do it all.
That is a lot.
But Katie, I think we missed something.
Really?
We talked about so many things.
What did we miss?
Well, rainy days are good for singing.
I'm singing in the rain.
I'm singing in the rain.
What a glorious feeling I'm happy again.
Uh, yes. We did miss that.
But Nathan, you think that any time is good for singing.
Oh, that's true.
Singing makes everything better, even rainy days.
But there's no time left for singing today.
It's time to say goodbye.
And see you next time here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Bye-bye.
