Welcome back, everyone.
We have a WEATHER lesson that we're talking about today.
And we have learned so far that rainy days can really make some problems.
There are a few problems in the LTE office.
That's right.
There are some puddles and leaks in the office, and they're trying to clean it
up before everything gets wet.
So let's find out what happens next in Conversation C now.
Why is there a bucket on the floor?
The roof has a leak.
There is too much rain.
Oh, no. There are leaks everywhere!
Really? Where else?
Well, I helped Jim with a leak in the office.
Carol had a leak in her office, too.
We need more buckets!
We need less rain!
Now before we took our break, we were going to talk about how you can stop a
leak.
And it's not always easy to fix a leak.
But what can you do, Katie?
Well, first, you need to find the reason for the leak.
Usually, leaks are in a roof.
And a roof is on the top of a house.
Have you ever worked on a roof, Nathan?
I have worked on roofs.
Now every few years you need a new roof so that leaks or other problems don't
start.
And I've helped make new roofs on a few houses.
Oh, that sounds like it would be a hard job.
I've seen people doing that before.
It looks like it would be easy to fall off the roof.
Well, you do need to be careful.
And the work does make you tired, but it's not very hard to do.
It just takes some time.
If you want to stop a leak, though, you need to fix the roof.
But it's usually just easier to put a bucket under the leak.
The water will drop in the bucket instead of making other things around it wet.
Now a bucket looks like this.
It's a little like a big cup, but it usually has something on it to make it easy
to carry.
And when you put a bucket under a leak, you don't need to carry it around with
you.
But we often use buckets for other things.
Sometimes you just need to take a lot of water somewhere.
And buckets make that job much faster.
What else are buckets good for, Katie?
What else?
Rob said that, too.
Are there other things that buckets are good for?
There are!
If you put water with soap in a bucket, you can use it for cleaning.
Yeah.
And then you can take the bucket everywhere for cleaning.
Hey, everywhere.
The next thing that Christina wants to teach us is one way to use that word.
(Chinese).
I know a way to use that word now.
Now we have key words everywhere.
And that means it's time for us to do some review.
Will you say the words with us now?
raincoat.
raincoat.
It's raining.
Wear a raincoat, Katie.
rainy.
rainy.
The weather is rainy and cold.
wet.
wet.
The paint is wet.
Don't sit down!
leak.
leak.
There is a leak in the bucket.
rain.
rain.
Rain is important for plants.
OK, everyone, those are all of our key words that we learned for today.
They're very important.
And now you can probably talk about rainy days.
So make sure that you practice them.
Right now we're going to review all of today's conversations again.
Good morning, Carol.
Oh. I love your raincoat.
Thanks, Megan.
It's so pretty!
I really like it, too.
It's great for this rainy weather.
I agree.
You need a raincoat today.
I love spring.
But it rains too much.
Oh, no!
There's a big puddle in the corner!
I'll get a mop!
Hi, Susie.
Hi, Jim.
Where's Mark?
Do you know?
No. Maybe he's in a meeting.
He has a big interview tomorrow.
OK. Thanks.
Why is the floor wet?
I don't know...
Uh-oh. There's a leak.
There are papers on this desk.
They're getting wet.
Let's move them!
Let's move everything!
(Music).
Hey, look, Ginger.
Is that a puddle?
Yeah, it's a puddle.
On rainy days, there are lots of puddles.
True.
But puddles should be on the outside.
Why is there one on the inside?
Oh, the roof is leaking.
Oh, the roof leaks?
Yeah.
Oh. Well, somebody should fix the roof.
Yeah, somebody that can climb on the roof.
Why are you looking at me?
Because you can climb on the roof.
Yeah. But... but...
Ginger, please go climb on the roof and fix the leak, OK?
I can't. It's raining.
It's too wet on the roof.
That's true.
We'll just wait for a sunny day and then you can fix the leak, OK?
But then I won't need to fix it.
What do you mean?
If it's a sunny day, the roof won't leak!
Now let's Answer It!
Question one is:
Why is there a bucket on the floor?
Why is there a bucket on the floor?
That answer is in Conversation C.
The roof has a leak.
OK. Here is question two.
Do you like rainy weather?
Why or why not?
Do you like rainy weather?
Why or why not?
Let's hear some answers from our friends.
(Music).
Do I like rainy weather?
I really don't like rainy weather.
First, most rain jackets and rain boots don't look nice.
Moreover, rainy weather limits the types of clothing and shoes I can wear.
For example, materials like leather and suede are not suitable for the rain.
And if the rain is heavy, I don't like walking around with wet feet all day.
Also, if my clothes get soaked, I need to send it to the dry cleaners.
And that costs extra money.
I prefer sunshine to rain any day.
Does the Monkey Man like rainy weather?
Well, there's a difference between rain and rainy weather, right?
Rainy weather means rain for a long period of time.
And no, I don't like that.
Too much rainy weather makes it difficult to get around in the jungle.
Now having said that, I do like a nice rain shower once in a while.
The rain cools things down, cleans things off and makes the banana trees grow.
Do I like rainy weather?
Well, where I'm from, it doesn't rain very often.
So when it does rain, I am very happy.
So I love rainy weather.
I like it when the rain cleans the air and the air is really fresh.
It makes me feel good.
It gives me energy.
I love rainy weather.
Do I like rainy weather?
Well, I like rainy weather when I'm inside.
Then I can stay dry.
I like to listen to the rain on the roof.
That's a very nice sound.
I like to read on a rainy day.
But I don't like rainy weather when I'm outside, especially if I don't have an
umbrella - because then I get very wet.
That's no fun at all.
Well, some people like it and some people don't.
We hope that today has been a good lesson and that we see you next time here
on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye.
(Music).
