Hey, this is LTE TV, and you're watching our Saturday review show.
My name is Nathan, and I am one of your teachers here on the show.
And my name is Katie.
It's great to be here.
We had a great week learning together.
Do you remember what we talked about?
I remember a few things.
Carol had a meeting with a guest earlier this week.
But what did the guest look like?
Did they ever find her?
And do you know what an artist does?
Do you know who Mei-Lian is?
She is a smart woman and she's really good at art.
At the end of the week, Mark and Susie went to see a movie together.
Listen to hear which movie they went to see.
Right now we're going to review this week's conversations again.
(Music).
Megan, I have a guest today at 3:00.
But she's not here.
See if you can find her.
Sure, Carol.
What does she look like?
Her hair is brown.
She has an oval face.
Does she have short hair?
No. Her hair is shoulder-length and curly.
OK. Does she wear glasses?
Yes, she wears black glasses.
Hi, Mark.
Can you help me?
Sure, Megan.
I'm looking for Carol's guest.
He or she?
She.
What does she look like?
Does she have long hair?
She has shoulder-length, brown hair.
Her face is oval.
She also wears glasses.
Does she have fair skin?
I'm not sure.
I can ask Carol.
Hi, Megan.
What are you doing?
Hi, Rob.
I'm looking for someone.
She is Carol's guest.
What does she look like?
She has fair skin.
She has shoulder-length, brown hair.
She also wears black glasses.
Are her glasses round?
I think so.
Sorry. I don't see her here.
Look in the Jungle Cafe.
Hi, Jim.
Hi, Mark.
Are you looking for someone?
Yes. Megan is looking for Carol's guest.
I'm helping her look.
What does the guest look like?
She has an oval face and fair skin.
Her hair is shoulder-length and brown.
That girl has shoulder-length, brown hair.
It is in a ponytail.
Is that the guest?
I don't know.
I'll ask!
Hello. Are you a guest here?
Yes. My name is Lily.
Are you looking for Carol?
Yes! Can you help me find her?
What does she look like?
Carol has a round face and shoulder-length, black hair.
Carol loves to smile.
She has dimples in her cheeks.
She sounds like a nice person.
Yes. Carol is very friendly.
She's a great boss.
Megan, I found Carol's guest.
Her name is Lily.
She's not Carol's 3:00 guest.
She's not?
No, she's not.
Carol's 3:00 guest has curly hair.
Lily has straight hair.
Then who is Lily?
Lily is Carol's 4:00 guest.
She's a student.
She's interviewing Carol about her job.
Carol is a great person to interview!
She is.
She has a lot of experience.
(Music).
Hi, Megan.
Hi, Carol.
What are you looking at?
We're looking at a book about art.
It has pictures of paintings by a special woman.
Those are beautiful paintings.
But why is the woman special?
She is disabled.
She can't talk or walk well.
But she can really paint.
Wow! That's great!
Her story is really interesting.
It's all in this book!
The artist's name is Mei-Lian Huang.
When she was born, a doctor wasn't careful and hurt her.
So she has trouble talking and getting around.
When she was young, other children didn't like her.
She didn't have any friends.
But Mei-Lian was smart.
Her parents knew that.
She worked really hard to learn to do things.
And she succeeded!
When she was young, a teacher saw her paintings.
The teacher said, "If you practice every day, I believe you can become a great
artist.".
And Mei-Lian practiced!
She worked hard for years.
She got a Ph.D. in art in the U.S.!
Now Mei-Lian is a famous artist.
She also teaches art classes in Taiwan!
Wow! What an amazing artist!
(Music).
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to Let's Talk!
Today our show is all about art.
Please help me welcome my special guest, Mr. Aaron Artist!
Welcome to the show, Aaron Artist!
Aaron, you're an artist and an art teacher!
I am! I teach art to young children.
It's such a great job!
What do you like about it?
Well, I teach kids about different kinds of art.
They can try drawing, painting, sculpting... anything!
How fun!
You can't know what you're good at until you try it!
My favorite kind of art is photography.
Some of the photos I see are amazing!
But I'm not good at photography.
You're good at another kind of art - drawing!
That's right.
I draw things I see around me, like people or buildings.
Do you draw with a pencil?
Sometimes! I also draw with pens.
And I'm trying something new - digital drawing!
Like drawing on a computer?
Right!
You sell your drawings, too, right?
If I'm lucky!
My drawings are in some cafes and coffee shops.
Sometimes customers see them and want to buy one.
I would buy one!
They all look so real!
Thank you, Rob!
Are you working on any big art projects now?
Yes, with my class.
We're making sculptures out of metal!
Wow! There are a lot of different kinds of art!
(Music).
Hey, Susie.
Do you have plans for tonight?
Yes. I plan to see a movie.
There's a new theater at the mall.
How about you?
I don't have any plans.
I guess I'll just go home.
Why don't you see a movie with me?
It will be fun!
Sure! That sounds great.
What film are you planning to watch?
I haven't decided.
Any ideas?
I want to see that new movie, The Car.
It looks good.
Who is in it?
It has Jessica Jenson in it.
She's a great actress.
She's very popular.
Cam Chang also has a new movie out.
He's one of my favorite actors!
Let's decide when we get to the theater.
We don't want to be too late.
You're right.
Let's go.
There are a lot of people here.
We should buy our tickets.
We should choose a movie to watch first.
Let's watch Cam Chang's drama.
I don't like dramas.
Let's watch an action movie.
OK. You win.
Oh, no!
That guy bought the last ticket.
Yay! Now we can watch Cam Chang's movie, can't we?
(Music).
OK, friends, you know how we do this.
Katie and I will ask you some questions from our lessons.
Are you ready?
Ooh, I'm ready.
And here is my first question.
One of Carol's guests is a girl named Lily.
Why did she want to see Carol?
Oh, I know.
She is going to interview Carol and ask her questions about her job.
Carol is a great person to interview because she has a lot of experience.
You're right.
Lily can ask Carol what she does for a job and if she likes her work.
I think that will be a good interview.
OK, let's ask another question.
This week we also learned about a woman named Mei-Lian.
She's an artist, remember?
But why is she disabled?
Oh, I think I know this.
She's disabled because when she was born, a doctor wasn't careful and he hurt
her.
That's right.
But even though Mei-Lian is disabled, she still does a lot of great things.
She's very talented.
Yeah. It's really cool that Mei-Lian is still such a great artist.
And we also talked to another artist - Aaron.
He teaches young children art.
They learn a lot of things like drawing and sculpting and painting.
So, Katie, tell me about this picture.
Is it a sculpture or a drawing or a painting?
Oh, that's a painting.
It's a very, very famous painting and there are so many beautiful colors in it.
That's right.
OK, friends, we're going to take a short break now.
But we'll beright back.
