Well, like Nathan said a minute ago, you can go to many different kinds of
markets and buy different things.
They have clothes markets and food markets and other things.
But today we will talk about a flower market where you can see many different
kinds of flowers.
So, Nathan, do you think that you would like to visit a flower market?
I'm sure I would like to see a flower market.
It would be very beautiful.
I'm sure I would have a great time at a flower market.

Today Gabe is going to the Neihu Flower Market in Taipei.
This is a popular place to buy many flowers for a good price.
People get flowers for many events.
Flowers can make people happy or feel better when they are sad.
But different flowers can have different meanings.
So knowing a little about the flowers is important.
Red roses and lilies are good choices for friends or family.
These flowers can mean love and friendship.
Tulips are a good choice, too.
They make people think of spring and new life.
What about Orchids?
Orchids are usually used as gifts for hotels and new businesses.

Well, today is one of my favorite lessons.
We're going to learn about a special place in a part of Taipei called Neihu - A
flower market.
Yes. Our friends in eREPORT visited a flower market.
It's a great place for anyone to visit.
That's right.
So we start today with a question.
Who doesn't love flowers?
Nathan, do you know anyone who does not love flowers?
No. I think most people really like flowers.
Girls might like flowers more than boys, though.
But most people like to give flowers as gifts.
I think flowers make people happy, right, Katie?
That's right. Flowers are so pretty, so it's good to... give them to people.
And you can give flowers for any occasion.
Hmm. And an occasion is something special that happens.
Maybe you can give someone flowers for Valentine's Day.
And birthdays are also a good occasion to give your friend flowers.
Or when someone has a baby, you can send them flowers.
But the best occasion for flowers might be a wedding.
Oh, that is true.
I always see a lot of flowers at people's weddings.
So, Katie, what's something good about the flower market that we are learning
about today?
Oh, I know.
It is a popular place to buy flowers for a good price.
So a lot of people like to go to this place.
It's very popular.
Mmhm.
And a good price just means you will not have to pay a lot of money.
It's not too expensive.
And one other special thing about flowers is that many flowers have different
meanings.

So you might give somebody red roses to show that person that you really love
them.
That's right, and you can do that on Valentine's Day.

I don't really buy flowers often.
So I don't know a lot about flowers.
Finding the right kind of flowers can be a little tricky.
The color and smell is very important.
But flowers also have different meanings, right?
I don't want to buy the wrong kind of flowers for my friend.
I want to buy flowers that mean "I hope you feel better soon".
So what kind of flower should I get?
Sunflowers?
Roses?
Tulips?
I don't know.
At this flower market, there are many kinds of flowers.
There are roses, sunflowers, daisies, orchids and many other kinds of flowers.
Most flowers come from fields where farmers grow them.
A flower nursery is the place where many plants and small flowers grow.
The flowers are usually in a special glass house called a greenhouse.
At a flower market, there are often many people who work and sell the flowers.
Every day people come here to buy colorful flowers or plants.
Many flowers have bright colors and patterns which make them very beautiful.
Some flowers also have a strong smell.
Many flowers smell very good.
People like to put flowers in their houses or offices to make it smell and look
nice.

It really makes me happy, especially when the weather is bad outside.
