Welcome back, everyone.
Today we are finishing our lesson - A Fast Food Order.
Do you know how to use the word "order"?
It can be a noun or a verb.
And we also talked about changing our minds.
Sometimes if we're hungry, we cannot decide what we want to eat.
Do I want pizza or a hamburger?
I can't decide.
You might change your mind.
But right now it's time to finish our conversations with Conversation C.
I'm back!
I've got lunch!
You got pizza?
I thought we were getting lunch from Pete's Hamburgers.
Everyone's orders were too confusing.
I forgot all the details.
Pizza is easier.
Everybody can share!
Right.
I'm sorry about the other order.
But I just couldn't remember everything!
It's OK.
But that's a lot of pizza!
It is!
I remembered one thing:
Mark is really hungry!
And Susie is back.
But she didn't get lunch from Pete's Hamburgers.
She got pizza instead.
Well, pizza is a great idea.
But it's probably a big surprise for our friends at the station.
They thought they were getting lunch from Pete's Hamburgers.
Hey, that sounds like our Use It sentence from today.
Why don't we learn about it now from Elizabeth?
(Music).
Do you ever feel confused?
When you do, you can use the pattern:
I thought we were doing something.
For example:
I thought we were having a party at my house.
Or:
I thought we were going to see that new movie.
Friends, remember to use it.
Well, now we all know how to use that Use It sentence.
So why did Susie get pizza instead of food from Pete's Hamburgers?
Well, that's a good question.
And the answer is: Because everyone's orders were too confusing, she forgot all
the details.
And the details are the little things that she needed to remember.
Right.
When Susie said she forgot the details, she meant she forgot what everyone
wanted on their hamburgers or on their sandwiches.
That's right.
Everyone wanted different things with their food.
But we don't only use the word "detail" to talk about food.
There are a lot of details you have to remember at school.
You need to remember when a test is.
You need to remember where your class is.
Or maybe you need to remember what homework you have tonight.
Those are a lot of details every day.
And there are a lot of details to remember when you're learning a language.
If you're learning English, you have to remember all the spelling.
When I'm learning Chinese, I have to remember all the tones.
So there might also be a lot of details for you to remember at work.
Sometimes Katie and I have meetings at our job.
That's right.
So we have to remember where the meeting is, what time the meaning is, and what
we will have to talk about.
Mmhm. Those are all of the details of the meeting.
That's why it's a good idea to write the details down.
You can remember the details more easily that way.
That's right.
And now it's time for us to review our key words from today.
So say them with us.
Here's the first one.
order.
order.
Are you ready to order now?
My order is a hamburger and fries.
change one's mind.
change one's mind.
It's too late to change your mind.
ketchup.
ketchup.
Ellen puts ketchup on everything!
detail.
detail.
There are many details in the story.
pizza.
pizza.
I want extra onions on my pizza.
Can you remember all of today's key words?
I know you can.
Now let's review today's conversations.
Hi, Susie.
What are you working on?
I want to go and order lunch from Pete's Hamburgers.
But I can't remember everyone's orders!
You didn't write them down?
No.
I thought I could remember.
But everybody had a special order.
I see.
What can you remember?
Rob wants a chicken sandwich with extra lettuce and tomatoes.
And Mark wants two cheeseburgers.
Or were they hamburgers?
Oh, I'm so confused!
Mark! I'm glad you're here.
Can you tell me your lunch order again?
Two hamburgers, fries, a large Coke and apple pie!
Great.
I'm going to Pete's to order lunch in just a minute!
Wait!
I changed my mind.
Oh, no!
I want two hamburgers with extra ketchup, and two pieces of apple pie.
I'll try to remember that.
I'm back!
I've got lunch!
You got pizza?
I thought we were getting lunch from Pete's Hamburgers.
Everyone's orders were too confusing.
I forgot all the details.
Pizza is easier.
Everyone can share!
Right. I'm sorry about the other order.
But I just couldn't remember everything!
It's OK.
But that's a lot of pizza!
It is!
I remembered one thing:
Mark is really hungry!
Hi, Ginger. I'm back with our food.
Good. So where's my banana, Monkey Man?
Your banana is for dessert, Ginger.
First eat your hamburger.
I don't want a hamburger.
But you said you wanted a hamburger.
I changed my mind.
I want pizza.
OK, you can have my pizza.
I changed my mind.
Now I want a hamburger.
OK, you can eat your hamburger.
Run, run! Go, go, go ! Run!
Ginger, why are you yelling at your hamburger?
It's fast food.
I want to see it go fast.
Go, go! Run!
Um, very funny, Ginger.
Just eat your hamburger, OK?
I'll eat it fast.
(Music).
Good morning.
You have a package.
Hi, my name is Kevin.
And I'm a delivery person.
My job is to deliver things to people around the city.
I usually drive a big truck with many things to deliver.
Sometimes I deliver flowers to people.
I am very busy during holidays.
Everyone wants to send flowers to their mothers or girlfriends.
On other days, I deliver packages and letters.
Many people like to order things from the Internet.
So it is my job to bring those things to their house.
I usually meet people at their front door.
I hope people are home to get their things.
A delivery person will need a person to sign their name before they can get
their letter or package.
I also deliver things to businesses and offices.
I love this job.
I can drive around the city and meet many new people.
I'm a delivery man.
And this is my job.
Your package.
And that's the end of our lessons on fast food.
I think I'm ready to go get something to eat right now.
Oh. Me, too.
We should ask everyone in the studio if they want something to eat.
But we should make sure and write their orders down.
Oh, that is exactly right.
That way, we won't forget what they want to eat.
Friends, maybe you can try to write something down today.
Maybe you can remember something important that way.
Well, that's a great idea.
Now we're out of time for today.
Did you learn a lot?
Make sure that you join us again soon.
We'll have a great new lesson here for you tomorrow.
That's right.
Katie and I will see you then right here next time on...
Let's Talk in English.
Bye-bye.
(Music).
