Welcome to the show.
We're so glad that you can spend part of your day learning some English with us.
My name is Nathan.
Thanks for joining us.
And I'm Katie.
We have a review show every Saturday.
We get to look back at all of this week's lessons today.
That's right.
We hope it will help you remember everything we've learned this week.
Do you remember what our first lesson was about this week?
Well, of course I do.
Ken and Susie got lost on the way to a big news story.
Don't worry, I won't tell you what happened in the end.
Yes. Please don't tell the end.
It's time to watch it all again right now.
So remember as much as you can, everyone, while we watch today's review.
And let's get started right now.
(Music).
Are you ready?
I am!
Let's go.
Do you have your camera?
Yes.
Do you have the directions?
No. But we can find the place.
OK.
This is a really important story.
Right.
Let's hurry.
Are we taking your car?
No. Let's take the station's truck.
Ken, where are you and Susie?
You're lost?
OK. I can talk to Carol and call you back.
They're lost?
Yes. This is a really important story, too.
It's about a big accident.
They need to get there fast!
Tell them this: Go east on Spring Road.
Look for Bob's Gas Station.
Turn right at the gas station.
OK. I'll tell them.
Are we on the right road?
Where are we?
We're on Spring Road.
I think.
Look for the gas station.
Hey! There it is!
Did Megan say "Bob's Gas Station"?
This is Bill's Gas Station.
I... can't remember.
Let's turn right there.
This is probably the street!
OK...
I just talked to Ken and Susie.
Are they still lost?
Yes. They made a wrong turn.
Oh, no!
Now they're on Windy Road.
They aren't too far away.
Tell them to drive north on Windy Road.
The place is at Windy Road and Green Street.
OK, I'll call again.
Maybe they won't be too late!
We found the place!
Yeah! We took a long time.
But we're here now.
Next time, let's get good directions.
And bring a GPS!
Well, let's go.
We've got a story to do!
Yeah!
Uh... Ken?
Yes, Susie?
Do you know how to get back home?
No, but don't worry.
We can find our way!
I'll never go anywhere again without a map.
I won't, either.
We got lost... on our way home!
I can't believe it!
We turned left, but we needed to turn right.
We passed our street... twice!
We needed to get directions.
But we're here now.
Next time, we'll know better.
Yes. We'll bring a map and GPS!
Hi, Rob.
Who are you interviewing today?
I'm interviewing a flight attendant.
She should be here any minute.
A flight attendant's job must be fun.
Why do you say that?
Flight attendants get to travel a lot.
True. But they also work hard.
I know.
They have to keep passengers happy!
And that's not always easy!
Besides serving passengers, what do flight attendants do?
I'm not sure.
I'm going to ask Jen.
She's the flight attendant.
Ask her to tell you about some unusual experiences, too.
I will.
Flight attendants meet lots of people.
And many of them are nice but some are not.
Right. Some people can be quite rude.
Well, here comes Jen!
OK, I'll see you later!
Hello, Jen.
Welcome to the program.
Thank you, Rob.
I'm excited to talk about my job as a flight attendant.
Great!
What is a flight attendant's job?
We serve passengers, and we try to keep them safe.
So safety is your number one job.
Right. We talk about safety before every flight.
And passengers should listen.
Yes, they should!
Flight attendants do more than serve passengers, don't they?
Oh, yes.
Our job starts hours before the passengers get on the plane.
What do you do?
Well, the flight attendants have a meeting with the captain.
He gives us information about the flight.
Things like the number of passengers?
Yes. We hear about the flight's route and get a weather report.
We also check the plane's supplies.
You make sure you have enough food and drinks?
Yes, and other things to make passengers comfortable.
We also check the safety equipment.
That's good.
Then we get the plane ready for passengers.
When they start to board, we greet them and help them find their seats.
And you try to get them in their seats as fast as possible?
Yes. Then the flight can leave on time.
Can you share an interesting experience with us?
Well, some passengers travel with their pets.
Right. The pet must be in a carrier.
And the pet must stay in its carrier during the flight.
But...?
One passenger's pet cat got out of its carrier.
And we had to try to catch it!
Being a flight attendant isn't easy.
No. But most of the time it's fun!
Why are you laughing, Ken?
Hi, Susie.
I'm reading some riddles.
Can you tell me one?
Sure. Here's a silly one.
Why was the math book upset?
Hmm... why?
Because it had so many problems.
That's funny!
Here's another one.
What is the longest word in English?
I don't know.
"Smiles." There's a "mile" between the first and last letter.
Ha, ha.
How about this one?
Why is six scared of seven?
Hmm... I'm not sure.
Why?
Because seven ate nine.
Oh, I get it.
Ate sounds like the number eight in "seven, eight, nine.".
Right!
What four letters is a thief scared of?
Hmm... I don't know.
What letters?
"O, I, C, U." Get it?
Oh, I see you.
That's a good one.
Do you know any more jokes or riddles?
Sure.
What has a face and two hands, but no arms or legs?
Hmm... What has a face and two hands but no arms or legs?
I don't know.
What?
A clock!
Oh! You're right!
That's very clever!
I love jokes and riddles.
Now I'm in a good mood.
Me, too.
Thanks, Ken!
That was fun.
(Music).
OK. Let's see how much you remembered.
Get ready for some review questions.
First, we have a picture to show you.
Oh, this is a picture of one of our key words this week, right?
That's right.
You need to tell us what key word this is.
And I think Katie might know what it is.
Oh, yes, I do know it.
But how about you at home?
Do you know?
How about we say it together?
It's a truck!
Ken and Susie were driving in a truck this week.
That's right, very good job.
Now are you ready for a review question, Katie?
Well, yes. I'm always ready for review questions, Nathan.
Well, really?
I guess I should ask a hard question then.
Let me think.
Ah. Here is the question for Katie this time.
What is a flight attendant's number one job?
Oh, that is a little hard.
Do any of you remember?
Well, I guess I'll give Katie a little bit of help.
They talk a lot about this when the flight starts.
When the flight starts...
That's when they talk....
Oh, that's when they talk about safety.
Great job.
Well, I hope you were right, too, everyone.
Now it's time fora little break.
