Well, it's Saturday again here at LTE TV.
My name is Katie.
And it's time for our review.
Yes, we're going to see how much you learned.
Hello, everyone.
My name is Nathan.
And we are glad that you joined us today.
Yes, and this was an exciting week.
Susie found a cute, little kitten.
And she brought it to the studio.
Do you know if Carol wanted to hold the kitten?
And Ken got stuck in terrible traffic.
That is never a fun time.
Getting stuck in traffic is very inconvenient.
Yes.
I don't like getting stuck in traffic.
Do you know how many accidents Ken saw on the way to the studio?
Hmm... I think I remember.
Friends, think about these questions while we review today.
(Music).
Hi, Susie.
What do you have there?
It's a kitten.
A kitten?
Why did you bring a kitten to the station?
I found it outside the station.
It's so little.
And it's cold.
Does it have an owner?
Does it have a home?
I don't know.
But this kitten is lost.
And it's hungry!
Can we feed it something?
Do you have any milk?
No.
But we can get some from the Jungle Cafe.
Can you go and get some?
I can find a box for it.
It can stay by my desk.
It may not stay in the box.
It may run around.
I hope not!
How can we find its owner?
I can put an ad online.
Maybe it doesn't have an owner.
Then I can take it to the animal shelter.
Or do you want it?
It's really soft and cute.
But I can't have a pet in my apartment.
Maybe we can keep it in the office!
Well, ask Carol!
Hi, Carol.
Will you be in your office this afternoon?
Yes. I have lots of work to do.
Why?
Can you keep something for me?
I have to go out now.
Keep what?
This.
Do you want to hold it?
A kitten!
Why do you have a kitten in the office?
I found it outside this morning.
Does it belong to anyone?
Or is it a stray?
I'm trying to find out.
I put an ad online.
You should make some signs, too.
I will.
We can't take care of a kitten at the station.
I know.
You should take it to the animal shelter.
I will take it there after work.
But can you keep it for now?
All right.
It can stay here.
Does it make much noise?
No, it's pretty quiet.
It sleeps a lot.
But...
But what?
It likes to sleep in your lap.
My lap?
I don't want cat hair on my clothes!
Don't worry.
It can sleep in the box.
Good.
If I hold it, I may want to keep it!
(Music).
Hi, Ken.
Where were you this morning?
I didn't see you.
I was late.
The traffic was terrible!
Really?
I took the subway this morning.
Why was the traffic so bad?
A tree fell across North Street during the storm last night.
Some men were working to get it off the road.
I see.
Yes, a tree will stop traffic!
That's not all!
I took the bus, and we passed four accidents!
Four?!
The roads are icy because of all the snow.
Some drivers couldn't control their cars.
When the roads are slippery, drivers should be extra careful.
I know.
Most people were driving very slowly.
That's good.
But the subway is much safer today.
Maybe the traffic will be better tonight.
I don't want to be in two traffic jams in one day!
Just take the subway.
There are no traffic jams there!
The closest stop is still a long way from my apartment.
How far?
I need to walk 15 minutes.
How long were you stuck in traffic?
Two hours.
You're right.
The subway is better.
Are you celebrating tonight, Mark?
Yes, I will go out and get dumplings.
Where are you going?
I'm going to Tang's Jiao Zi House.
I love that place!
Can I go with you?
Sure!
We can celebrate together.
Uh, what are you celebrating?
Chinese New Year!
Tonight is Chinese New Year's Eve.
But Chinese New Year is in February.
Not always.
Sometimes it's in January.
Oh, right.
The lunar calendar isn't the same every year.
That's right.
And next year will be the Year of the Horse.
Will it be a good year?
I think so.
I was born in the Year of the Horse!
I think about my family at this time of year.
Me, too.
My family gets together at Chinese New Year.
Mine, too.
And my mom cooks a big dinner!
What does she cook?
She cooks lots of good food.
We always have fish.
Why?
Some foods are lucky for Chinese people.
Fish is one of them.
Why is fish a lucky food?
Well, the Chinese word for fish is "yu." That sounds like the Chinese word for
"riches.".
Oh! So people want to have riches in the new year.
That's right.
And children do get riches.
They do?
Yes!
Children get red envelopes from their parents and other adults.
The envelopes have money in them!
Chinese New Year is a fun holiday.
I really loved it as a child.
Why?
Because you got red envelopes?
Yes. And because we could stay up really late on Chinese New Year's Eve.
And we had firecrackers at midnight to start the New Year.
Was it really loud?
Oh, yes!
Everyone had firecrackers.
It was lots of fun.
Some cities have parades at Chinese New Year.
Yes. There is usually a really big dragon in the parades.
Right!
People carry it and make it move.
That's fun to watch.
Too bad there isn't a parade in our town.
I know.
But we'll still have fun celebrating.
We'll eat dumplings.
Want to join us, Susie?
Sure!
I love dumplings, too!
(Music).
Well, now that you've seen the conversations again, let's review.
Susie found a kitten this week.
And she's trying to take care of it.
She wants to find the owner.
So here is the first question.
Where does the kitten like to sleep?
I know.
The kitten likes to sleep in your lap.
Oh, that's so cute.
You're right, Nathan.
And yes, that is cute.
I like it when cats sleep in my lap.
But like Carol said, the cat hair would get all over your clothes.
That's not so good.
Oh, yeah.
That's true.
So our friends at the station could not keep the kitten.
But at least Susie tried to find the owner of the kitten.
Yes, that was nice of her.
Now here's another question for you.
Ken was stuck in a traffic jam.
How long was he stuck in traffic?
Ugh, I know the answer to this question.
Ken was stuck in traffic for two hours.
That's right.
And poor Ken.
Getting stuck in traffic is never fun.
Yes, I do not like getting stuck in traffic.
And Ken was late to work.
That's even worse.
But at least he had a good reason.
He was stuck because the weather was bad.
Yes. We talked this week about being careful when you drive if the weather is
bad.
You should drive slowly if the roads are icy.
That's important.
That is important.
Now we're going to take a short break.
We'll beright back.
