Hi, everyone.
It's great to see you today here at LTE TV.
We have a great lesson for you.
My name is Nathan, and I am one of your teachers here on the show.
Today we have a new topic: NATURE.
And the title of our lesson is A Lost Kitten.
A Lost Kitten.
Katie, do you like kittens?
Well, Nathan, I think everyone knows I really like cats.
So of course I like... no, I love kittens.
Hi, everyone.
My name is Katie, and I'm your other teacher here on the show.
I'm really excited for today's lesson today.
And we hope you're excited to practice your reading.
Find your Read It in your magazine and read it with Katie now.
Susie found a kitten outside the station.
It is cold and hungry.
Susie and Megan can feed it some milk.
Susie can find a box for it.
Megan likes the kitten.
It's soft and cute.
But she can't keep a pet in her apartment.
Susie may take it to the animal shelter.
Wow. What an exciting day at the station.
You don't find a lost kitten every day.
Aw, that's true.
But it would be kind of fun to find a kitten.
You could take care of it like Megan and Susie are doing.
That's true.
But it's a lot of work to take care of a kitten.
You have to find a place for it to sleep and find food for it and play with it,
and you have to buy a lot of...
But Nathan, kittens are so cute.
They're soft.
It would be OK.
Well, if you think so, Katie.
But right now I think we need to look at our key words with our word lady,
Christina.
(Chinese).
(Music).
Hi, Susie.
What do you have there?
It's a kitten.
A kitten?
Why did you bring a kitten to the station?
I found it outside the station.
It's so little.
And it's cold.
Does it have an owner?
Does it have a home?
I don't know.
But this kitten is lost.
And it's hungry.
Like we found out earlier, Susie found a kitten.
Katie, have you ever found a kitten before?
Well, yes. When I was little, I found kittens a couple of different times.
And my family really likes cats, so my mom and dad let me keep them.
Wow, that is cool! But that was a lot of work, right?
Well, yes. I found the kittens outside, and they were really dirty.
So I had to wash them.
And then you had to find food for them and a place for them to sleep, too.
Well, yes, that's true.
But it's nice to help out a little animal if it's lost.
I suppose so.
Now Megan asks Susie a good question:
Why did you bring a kitten to the station?
Well, that is a good question.
Why did you do something?
Like, why did you go to that place?
Or, why did you make that mistake on your test?
Why did you decide to paint your room?
Why did you buy those clothes?
Well, those are great questions to ask.
So maybe you can ask someone why they did something today.
Now, Megan wants to know why Susie brought the kitten to the station.
A kitten probably should not be at a TV station.
Well, I think you're right about that, Nathan.
But the kitten is so little and it's cold outside.
Well, Megan also wants to know if the kitten has an owner.
And an owner is someone who owns something.
Yeah. So I have a pet cat.
I'm his owner.
If you have a pet, you are a pet owner.
If you have a car or a scooter, you're the owner of that thing.
If you have a house, you're a house owner.
Well, that's a great point, Nathan.
Now, if you find an animal, it's very important to find out if that animal has
an owner.
You need to know if it has a home.
And sometimes when you find an animal, you can take it back to its owner.
That's a really nice thing to do.
Well, that is nice.
But sometimes you can't find the owner.
So if you can't find the owner, you say the animal is lost because you don't
know where to take it.
So what should you do when you don't know where the animal should go?
It's a good question.
But right now Christina wants to teach us something else about the sentence:
What do you have there?
(Chinese).
(Music).
Can we feed it something?
Do you have any milk?
No. But we can get some from the Jungle Cafe.
Can you go and get some?
I can find a box for it.
It can stay by my desk.
It may not stay in the box.
It may run around.
I hope not!
Well, like I said earlier, you have to do a lot of things if you have or find an
animal.
You have to find food for it so that you can feed it.
But you have to be careful with what you feed a kitten.
A kitten can't eat a lot of food.
It's like a baby.
Oh, that's right.
Kittens need soft food so they don't have to chew so much.
Or sometimes milk is great for kittens to drink.
Oh, that's a good idea.
And that brings us to today's Use It.
Let's find out about the sentence "Do you have any milk?" right now.
(Music).
Today we're going to learn how to use the phrase:
Do you have any (something)?
For example:
Do you have any money?
Or you could say:
Do you have any pets?
Meow.
Woof, woof, woof.
OK, friends, remember to use it!
(Music).
Well, thanks for the help, Elizabeth.
That is a great question to ask someone.
You can use it if you need to borrow something from somebody.
That's true.
So, Susie wanted to know if Megan had any milk.
But they can get some from the Jungle Cafe instead.
Well, Megan can get it.
But Susie needs to keep the kitten near her desk.
So she could keep it in a box.
Yeah, I guess that's a good idea, but it's hard to make kittens stay in a box.
Well, yeah, that's right.
Kittens like to run around, so that might be hard.
Kittens are very playful.
They always like to race around and explore the rooms they're in.
And kittens really like to play in boxes.
So it will probably want to play if it's in the box.
Yeah, you're right about that.
Wow. That will make a lot of work for Susie.
Having an animal is hard work, right, Nathan?
That's what I've been saying.
If you find an animal, you have to watch it all the time.
You don't want it to get lost again.
Well, yes, that's true.
But maybe, maybe this kitten will fall asleep in the box.
My kittens always like to sleep in boxes.
So keeping the kitten in the box might not be a terrible idea.
Hmm, well, that's right.
Well, do you think it'd be a lot of hard work to take care of a lost animal?
Would you keep one if you found a lost animal?
Well, I think it would be kind of hard if I found a lost animal, so I would have
to think really hard if I... decided to keep it or not.
Well, friends, right now it's time for us to take a short break.
But we will be right back after that.
