Welcome back to the show.
Today we've learned about a lot of interesting things.
One thing we talked about is what you do when you take a break.
Whenever I take a break, I usually go get a coffee and try to relax for a few
minutes.
Well, there are a lot of things that you could do on your break.
You could listen to the radio.
We have a radio show host on our show today.
And don't forget that the word "host" can also be something that you do.
You can host a person.
Right now, friends, we need to go see what happens next in Conversation C.
Yes! I love your show.
You talk about very interesting things!
Thank you. Your show is great, too!
Your interviews are very interesting.
Thank you!
Patty, are you ready to see Carol?
She should be available now.
Great, let's go.
Rob, it was very nice to meet you!
Perhaps I'll see you around later?
I hope so!
Wow, that is so cool.
Rob and Patty are fans of each other.
Yep, that is pretty interesting.
It would be really fun to meet someone you are a fan of.
Well, Nathan, who would you like meet?
Well, I am a fan of Elton John.
So I would really like to meet him.
It would be very interesting.
Well, Patty also says that Rob's interviews are very interesting.
Do you like to watch interviews, Nathan?
Yes, I do like to watch interviews especially of people that I like.
Now interviews are really great to watch because you can learn a lot if you
watch interviews on the news.
That's right.
Now I said earlier that it would be interesting to meet someone you're a fan of.
Have you ever met someone you're a fan of?
What did you do?
Now are you ready to teach our friends some great things, Katie?
Oh. Well, Nathan, that is a great question, too.
Are you ready to do something?
Are you ready to go to school?
Are you ready to go to the movie?
Are you ready to study for your test?
Now, friends, Patty still needs to see Carol.
And Megan finally says that Carol is available now.
And that just means that Carol has to meet with Patty now.
She is not busy.
Sometimes we might have to wait until someone is available to meet that person.
And if a person is not available, we say that they are unavailable.
Hey, Katie, are you available for lunch today?
Perhaps we can go and get some food.
Well, those are two... two of today's key words, Nathan.
And that's a great way to use them.
Well, you're right.
Now if you say perhaps, you mean maybe.
Like: Perhaps it will rain tomorrow.
Or perhaps we should go to Christina right now and learn something with her.
(Chinese).
OK, friends, now it's time for us to review today's key words.
Please say them with us.
This is the first key word.
coworker.
coworker.
TJ is my coworker. We work together.
believe.
believe.
I got an A in English! I can't believe it!
radio.
radio.
Do you listen to the radio often?
available.
available.
Mom isn't available now. She's busy.
perhaps.
perhaps.
Perhaps Katie will give us some cake.
Well, those are all of our key words for today, friends.
Now it's time for us to review all the conversations we have seen today.
This is the Jungle Cafe.
My coworkers and I take our breaks here.
They sell very good coffee.
I love coffee!
Oh, there's Rob!
Rob, I want you to meet someone.
Hi, Megan.
Rob, this is Patty.
She's here to see Carol.
It's so nice to meet you!
I love your show.
I'm pleased to meet you, Patty.
I can't believe it!
I'm talking to Rob!
You have a fan, Rob!
I guess so!
Patty, where do you work?
I work at a radio station.
I'm a radio show host.
Which radio show?
Good Morning Patty.
You're Patty from Good Morning Patty?
I listen to you on the radio every morning!
Wow, I have a fan, too!
I hope so!
(Music).
Uh, Ginger, we need to talk.
Hey, not now, Monkey Man.
I'm on the phone.
Uh, what are you doing on the phone?
I'm talking.
Hello. May I help you?
Ginger, we need to talk right now!
No, Monkey Man, I'm on the phone.
Secretaries talk on the phone.
Ginger, you're not a secretary.
Yes, I am.
And I'm busy talking on the phone.
Shh!
Ginger, please listen to me, OK?
Not now, Monkey Man.
I'm not available!
Oh, really?
You're not available?
No, I'm not.
Perhaps we can talk later.
OK! But I wanted to talk and have a banana.
A banana! Oh.
Perhaps we can talk right now.
Hmm, that's what I thought.
Yeah.
Well, you see...
(Music).
You are listening to Rick's Music Spotlight on WLTE Radio.
Next stop, a new song from the LTE singers, Give Me Ten!
I'm sure it will brighten your day.
Oh. Hi, there.
My name is Rick.
I'm a DJ here at WLTE Radio.
People don't see my face.
But they hear my voice.
I am on the radio every day.
My job is to find interesting songs and music for people to listen to.
During my program, I will introduce these songs and play them for my listeners.
Usually I record my programs live.
That means I am at the radio station when you hear my voice on the radio.
Sometimes if I am going on vacation, I will prerecord my program.
That means I will record my program before I leave.
Then the radio station can play it when I am not there.
I like to play pop music for my listeners.
Not all DJs play pop music.
Other DJs might play rock 'n' roll, jazz, hip hop, country, or classical music.
I love music.
So being a DJ is a perfect job for me.
I'm a DJ and this is my job.
Well, friends, it's time for us to finish up our SMALL TALK topic.
Did you learn a lot?
Well, I think that I did.
And I still can't believe that Patty and Rob are both fans of each other.
That is really cool.
Yes, that is so cool.
Now do you have a lot of coworkers?
Or do you listen to the radio often?
And here's another question.
How do you introduce your friends to each other?
Or who is your favorite TV host?
Nathan, do you have a favorite radio host?
Well, I don't listen to enough radio to know.
Have you ever hosted a show?
These are great questions to think about.
We're out of time for now.
But tomorrow we have a new lesson for you.
So join us then here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Bye-bye.
(Music).
