Thanks for watching Let's Talk in English on this wonderful Saturday.
We want to let you look back at this week's conversations.
Do you remember what our friends were doing this week?
Our ACTIVITIES topic reminded us that Christmas is coming soon.
We also had a helpful LIFE topic this week.
It was about bad habits.
A special guest told us about some ways to break bad habits.
And we all have bad habits even if they are very different.
Ken and Mark have different bad habits.
Ken stays up too late and Mark snacks a little too much.
But I think this lesson helped both of them.
Maybe it can help you too.
Pay attention.
(Music).
Hi, Mark.
Hi, Megan. Hello, Susie.
Are you still working?
No, we aren't working.
Well... we are working on our Christmas cards!
Now? But Christmas is three weeks from now.
I know. But we're making our Christmas cards.
Then we write in them, put them in envelopes and mail them.
So we need a lot of time!
These are cool cards. How do you make them?
First we make the cards from paper.
Then we put other paper and things on the front.
Do you cut paper into different shapes?
Yes. We also use pictures and stickers.
Sometimes I use pictures from other cards.
So people send cards to you.
Then you cut out the pictures.
That's right!
Can I make a card?
Sure. We have a lot of paper.
And you can borrow some glue or tape.
You can use these pens and markers, too.
Great! Thanks.
Who is your card for?
It's for the best mom in the world.
Merry Christmas, Mom!
Hi, Megan.
What are you doing?
I'm making cards.
Shouldn't you be working?
I am working.
Carol asked me to make Christmas cards for local business owners.
Oh. That's nice.
This is a cute card!
So is this one!
They're all cute!
Thanks. Making cards is fun.
You're talented.
Not really. I often copy other people's cards.
These words look pretty. Did you write them?
No, I didn't. I used a stamp.
Oh! A stamp!
Do you want to make a card?
Sure! What do I do first?
You can glue something to the front of this card.
OK. Then can I use a stamp?
Sure. You can also color the card with these crayons or colored pencils.
Making cards is fun!
I told you.
How did you learn to make cards?
From the Internet.
And Carol showed me some things.
Also, I learn as I do it.
I see.
There really is no wrong way to make a card.
Um, Megan, my card won't open.
I glued it together.
Maybe there is a wrong way to make a card.
Hi, Carol.
Hi, Ken. Come in!
Please sit down.
Thank you. What can I do for you?
We have a problem.
What is it?
You. You are late to work.
Well, maybe a few times.
No, Ken. You are often late to work.
Really?
Yes, really. You were late three times last week.
I'm sorry. I have a bad habit.
I go to bed too late.
Why?
Because I'm on the computer late at night.
And you can't get up in the morning.
Well, I can. But I don't move very fast.
So you are late to work.
Yes. And other people are upset.
Yes, they are.
What can I do?
Go to bed before midnight.
But all my friends are online late at night.
Find them online another time.
OK. You're right.
Then you can get more sleep.
And you can get up early.
Then I can do something else, too.
What?
I can eat breakfast at home.
I usually don't have time!
Mark, are you snacking again?
Who, me?
Yes, you. I see those potato chips.
Susie, this is my first bag today.
Will it be your only bag today?
Uh... maybe.
You want to stop snacking. You asked me to help you.
I know. Snacking can be a bad habit.
It is for me.
And habits aren't easy to change.
Hi, Susie. Hi, Mark.
Oh! Potato chips. Can I have one?
Sure. Have more than one. I eat too many of them.
Thanks. You do snack a lot.
I know. Susie is trying to help me stop.
There are worse habits than snacking.
You could smoke.
Or you could be late all the time!
Yes. But I shouldn't snack too much.
I'll gain weight!
You need a good habit, Mark.
Then you can stop the bad one.
I do. What do you suggest?
Get regular exercise.
I do that.
Read good books.
I do. I'm reading one right now.
Then you have some good habits.
I do. Maybe I can have one bad one?
I can keep snacking.
But not too much.
(Music).
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Do you have any bad habits?
What are some ways that we can break our bad habits and make good ones?
Well, here to give us some tips is my special guest, Dr. Hans Habit.
Welcome to the program, Dr. Habit.
Thank you, Rob. I'm glad to be here.
We all have habits we want to break.
How can we do that?
Well, first decide the habit you want to break.
Write it down.
And then?
Ask your friends to help you break the habit.
Try to find someone who wants to break the same habit.
Then you have a partner to work with.
Next, find something you can do instead of the habit.
For example?
Maybe you don't want to smoke anymore.
When you want to smoke, do something else.
Like have coffee with a friend or go for a walk?
That's right.
What other tips do you have?
Be patient with yourself.
You did not form your habit in one day.
Don't expect to break it in one day, either!
You can break a bad habit.
First, decide which habit you want to break.
If possible, find a partner who wants to change the same habit.
Then you can help each other.
Next, find another activity to do instead of the habit.
For example, if you want to smoke, have coffee with a friend or go for a walk.
And be patient with yourself.
You did not form your habit in one day.
So don't expect to break it in one day, either.
Hello again, friends.
Do you hear that?
I... I know Chris is here. I... I hear him inside his tree.
But I... I don't know what he's doing inside.
(Background Noise).
All done!
Oh! Hello, Nathan.
I guess I finished just in time.
Well, what did you finish?
What are all these little pieces of paper?
Oh... I was just... Wait!
Can't you see what I was doing?
What were Susie and Megan working on this week?
Oh. They were working on Christmas cards.
I know that one.
Oh. So you were cutting paper for Christmas cards, too!
That's right. Good job, Nathan.
So what is your next question for me, Chris?
Oh. I'm asking the questions this time?
Well, uh, I do have another question.
I was trying to remember something.
What did Dr. Habit say you should find to break a habit?
Oh. Well, that is a great question.
You need to find two things.
A partner that you can work with, and you should find something else to do
instead.
So I should look for a friend that...
I mean... I don't need to.
I was just giving a review question.
OK, wait, Chris.
Are you trying to stop a bad habit?
What? No. I don't have any bad habits.
Well, I don't think you're telling the truth, Chris.
Everyone has bad habits.
Well, not me.
I don't want to talk about this.
Leave me alone.
No, Chris, you don't have to leave.
I was just trying...
I think maybe we should take a break, friends. OK?
Chris.
No.
Come on.
No.
You don't haveto do this.
