Welcome back, friends.
Right now it's time for us to play a game together and see how well you know
today's key words.
And today's game is called I Know It!
I Know It!
Do You Know It?
OK. For this game I will talk about one of today's key words.
When you know which word I'm talking about, raise your hand and say...
I know it!
OK. Here we go.
This key word is something that I do.
When I do this, I need scissors.
And I need paper because I...
Katie, I know it already.
Because you said you need scissors, I know you are talking about the word cut.
That's right. The word was cut.
OK, friends, now it's time for us to review today's conversations.
(Music).
Hi, Mark.
Hi, Megan. Hello, Susie.
Are you still working?
No, we aren't working.
Well... we are working on our Christmas cards!
Now? But Christmas is three weeks from now.
I know. But we're making our Christmas cards.
Then we write in them, put them in envelopes and mail them.
So we need a lot of time!
These are cool cards. How do you make them?
First we make the cards from paper.
Then we put other paper and things on the front.
Do you cut paper into different shapes?
Yes. We also use pictures and stickers.
Sometimes I use pictures from other cards.
So people send cards to you. Then you cut out the pictures.
That's right.
Can I make a card?
Sure. We have a lot of paper.
And you can borrow some glue or tape.
You can use these pens and markers, too.
Great! Thanks.
Who is your card for?
It's for the best mom in the world.
Merry Christmas, Mom!
Hi, Monkey Man.
Hi, Ginger.
Look what I have!
What? Oh, what do you have?
These are Christmas cards.
Christmas cards! Already?
Well, yes. Christmas is coming.
So I'm making cards.
Wow! Those cards are cool.
How do you make them?
Well, I make them from paper. Then I decorate the front.
Ooh, ooh. That's fun!
Yes, it is. I cut paper into different shapes.
I also use stickers and pictures.
Ooh, ooh. That's fun!
And it's easy. Anyone can do it.
Hey! I want one!
Well, you'll have to wait until Christmas.
Then I'll send you one.
No. I want to make one.
Hmm, Ginger, I think it's too hard for you.
Hey, you said anyone can do it.
Well, anyone can do it, Ginger.
Yay!
Except you!
Oh, Monkey Man. Please!
I'm sorry!
Hello.
(Chinese).
Calendar Phrase.
Can I borrow some?
Can I borrow some?

I have a lot of paper.
Can I borrow some?
I have a lot of markers.
Can I borrow some?
I have a lot of glue.
Can I borrow some?
Hey! Why don't you buy your own?
But I don't have any money. Can I borrow some?
No!
Can I borrow some?
Can I borrow some?
(Chinese).
OK, friends, today we are going to Answer It!
Here is question one.
Who is Mark's card for?
Who is Mark's card for?
You can see the answer in Conversation C.
His card is for his mom.
But here is question two.
Do you ever make cards? Why or why not?
Do you ever make cards? Why or why not?
Let's hear some answers from our friends.
Does the Monkey Man ever make cards?
On occasion, the Monkey Man does make birthday cards, get-well cards or goodbye
cards.
I think it's because he likes making things with his hands.
He likes using scissors to cut paper, markers to color things and glue to stick
things together.
Today there are websites that make creating digital cards quick, convenient and
easy to send.
But I think the Monkey Man will always enjoy making cards the old-fashioned way.
Do I ever make cards?
No. I don't ever make cards.
Sometimes I buy cards. That is easier to do.
But to make cards?
That sounds like a lot of work.
Buying cards is easier.
I go to the store; I look around. Oh, that card looks good.
I take that card, I buy it and then put it in an envelope, oh, and sign my name.
And that's it!
Do I make cards?
No!
Do I ever make cards?
No, I don't.
I actually don't like making cards because I'm not very good at it.
I'm better at writing a poem, writing a song, something other than having to cut
or draw straight lines.
My son tells me I'm horrible at it.
But other people like it.
Well, like I said, I could sing you a song like "What a good day today is." I
could write a nice poem for a card.
But making a card... I don't think so.
I don't like making cards.
Do I ever make cards?
Yes, I do.
I always make cards for friends, especially during the holidays.
Cards are a great way to say hello to your friends if you don't get to see them
very much.
Making cards is definitely a good habit.
If you are trying to quit smoking, make cards for your friends when you want to
smoke.
OK, friends, that's all the time that we have for today.
But be sure that you join us again tomorrow.
We'll be here right here on...
Let's Talk in English. Bye-bye.
(Music).
