Welcome back to the show, friends.
Right now it's time for a key word game.
Today's game is called I Know It!
I Know It!
Do You Know It?
In this game I will talk about one of today's key words.
Which key word am I talking about?
Well, that's the question that you need to answer.
Here we go.
This key word is something that you wear.
Maybe you wear it for work or for school.
And all of the people at work or at school also wear the same thing.
Nathan, I know it.
I know the answer.
You said that this is something you wear and it's the same as everyone else's.
That is a uniform.
That's right. That was one of today's key words.
Uniform.
Now let's review today's conversations together.
(Music).
Hi, Ken. Are you watching something?
Yes. I'm watching a parade on YouTube.
Are you watching a Thanksgiving Day parade?
Yes. I like holiday parades.
Which parade are you watching?
I'm watching last year's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York.
You must like parades.
I do!
There are so many exciting things in them.
I like parades, too.
I like all the floats.
I like all the marching bands.
I played in a marching band in high school.
Really! Were you in any parades?
Yes. I was in several parades.
Do you go to parades now?
Yes. I like the soldiers in parades.
Their uniforms are great.
I like the candy at parades, too.
Ken, people throw candy to children at parades.
You're an adult.
I know. But I still catch a piece or two!
I look for the fire trucks in parades, too.
They make a lot of noise!
And sometimes parades have really old cars.
I like those.
I like everything about parades!
(Background Noise).
Monkey Man!
Oh. Hey, Ginger.
What are you doing?
I'm practicing the trumpet.
The trumpet? Well, please stop!
Stop? Why?
You're making my ears hurt. Ouch.
Well, Ginger, I am sorry, but I can't stop.
I have to practice.
What for?
Well, I want to play in the Thanksgiving Day parade.
In the marching band?
Yes! I think I'll look pretty good in a uniform.
But will you sound good? No!
Well, that's why I'm practicing, Ginger.
(Background Noise).
Oh, no!
Hello.
(Chinese).
Calendar Phrase.
I like parades.
I like parades.
(Chinese).
I like parades.
Yeah. I like marching bands.
I like parades.
Yeah. I like all the floats.
I like parades.
Yeah. I like the fire trucks.
Hey! What do you like about parades?
Everything! I like parades!
I like parades.
I like parades.
(Chinese).
Today we get to Answer It!
Let's look at the first question.
What is Ken watching?
What is Ken watching?
You can find the answer in Conversation A.
He is watching a Thanksgiving Day parade.
Here is question two.
Do you like parades? Why or why not?
Do you like parades? Why or why not?
Let's hear some answers from our friends.
(Music).
Do I like parades? Yes.
They're really exciting. There's so much happening.
There's food and music, and lots of things and people to see.
But in the summer, parades are really hot.
I don't like them then.
But in the fall, like for Thanksgiving, I love parades.
That's one of my favorite things to do when the weather is a little bit cooler.
Does the Monkey Man like parades?
Well, you probably already know that parades tend to be noisy and crowded
events.
And well, noise and crowds are two things the Monkey Man usually likes to avoid.
Now one way he does that is by spending his free time in the jungle, listening
to the sounds of nature with some of his good friends, like the monkeys.
But if there was ever a parade in the jungle, I think the Monkey Man would
probably go and take a look.
Do I like parades? Why or why not?
My name is Sam, and I do not like parades.
Sure, parades are very exciting.
But parades are also very noisy.
And I live downtown, so Saturday morning when a parade comes, it wakes me up.
So I do not like parades.
Do I like parades?
Well, not really.
Where I come from, the sun is really bright and really hot.
If I were to go to a parade, I would be sweating and I would be really hot.
I don't like that!
But do I watch the parades on television?
Well, not anymore.
I've seen them for so many years that, well, they're not very interesting to me
anymore.
Well, we've talked a lot about parades today.
But there is still a lot more to learn.
Please come back tomorrow and the next day for more lessons in English and some
more fun.
We hope to see you again right here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Bye-bye.
