Welcome to another Saturday review show here at LTE TV.
My name is Katie, and I am glad you're here.
This week Megan wants to bake a cake for Mark's birthday.
So Susie tells her what she needs.
What kind of cake did they bake for Mark?
Then Megan planned her dream home.
What is your dream home?
And what are some ways to save space at your home?
Listen for the answers as we review.
Susie, you bake a lot of things.
Yes, I do.
I need a cake!
You can bake one.
No. I can cook. But I can't bake!
I can help you. You can bake a cake.
No. I can buy a cake from the store.
That's easy!
No. You can make a cake.
That's easy, too!
I need the cake for Mark's birthday party.
When is Mark's party?
I didn't know about it.
On Saturday.
What kind of cake does he like?
He really likes lemon cake.
OK. I have a yummy lemon cake recipe!
Good! What do I need for the cake?
Flour, sugar, eggs, lemon... what else?
You need butter and a few other things.
What do I do first?
Come to my baking class. I can show you there.
Where is your baking class?
The class is at my church! My first class is tonight.
OK! Why didn't you tell anyone about your class?
I don't know.
Why didn't you tell me about Mark's party?
I don't know.
Hey, Susie! How was your baking class last night?
Well, it was my first class, so I was nervous.
But it was a good class! The students learned a lot.
What did they bake?
We made chocolate cookies and...
And a lemon cake for me!
Don't worry. I already know about the cake.
Megan told you about your birthday cake?
Yes, and thanks for helping her!
Well, your cake isn't ready yet.
It's not? What's the problem?
Megan mixed everything together well, but she had a little trouble.
What? Did she forget the sugar? The lemon?
She didn't measure some of the ingredients well.
Oh, no!
We took the cake out of the oven, and it was really dry!
But don't worry. We can make another cake before your party.
OK. But I'm sorry about this one.
It's OK! Megan learned a good lesson.
In baking, be very careful when you measure.
True. Well, she didn't burn it!
That's good!
Yes. But another student burned some cookies.
Oh, well! Your next class will be better!
Hey, Megan. What are you reading?
This is a magazine about houses.
I'm planning my dream home.
Are you shopping for a house?
No. I'm just looking at the pictures for fun!
May I see?
Sure! There are a lot of ideas in here.
You're right.
So what does your dream home look like?
I can show you.
That's a big house!
It is! This house has three stories!
The yard is huge!
There is a pool behind the house, too.
I love swimming pools.
This is my dream home. Find another home!
Look at this other house.
It has an indoor pool.
Nice! You can swim in the winter.
My dream home has a game room!
My dream home has a big balcony!
Well, my dream home has a big garage!
It is big enough for five cars!
My dream home has a huge closet!
I can walk around in it!
When can you buy your dream home?
Not soon. I need more money. A lot more!
Hi, Megan. Hi, Mark.
You two look busy.
Hi, Ken. We're looking at a magazine.
It has all kinds of photos of unusual houses!
Take a look. This house looks like a UFO!
Cool! The house is round!
And look at this one. Someone made an airplane into a house.
That's amazing!
Look at this "Walking House." The house has legs.
It can walk around!
You're kidding!
No! It really can. It gets power from the wind and sun.
My favorite house is shaped like a ball!
How could you live in such a small house?
It is pretty tiny.
It has power, water and a bedroom.
What else do I need?
I always wanted to live in a treehouse.
I had a treehouse when I was young!
I played in it for hours!
I want a big treehouse, high above the ground.
It will have bedrooms, and a kitchen, and...
Won't you get tired of climbing up and down every day?
Maybe. But if I had a great treehouse, I might never leave.
(Music).
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
I have a question for you.
What kind of place do you live in?
Well, today we are going to talk about some very special apartments.
Please help me welcome my guest, Ms. Ava Apartment!
Welcome, Ava Apartment!
Thank you, Rob!
I'm excited to be here.
A lot of people live in cities.
Many of these people have to live in small apartments.
Yes, because rent is expensive.
But living in a small apartment isn't bad.
There are many ways to save space.
Give us an example.
Store your things on shelves in your closet or drawers under your bed.
Then you'll have more space.
There are some pretty tiny apartments in the world.
That's right.
These are called "micro-apartments." They are around 200 or 300 square feet.
But some are even smaller!
Why would someone want to live in such a small place?
Large cities can be very expensive and crowded.
A micro-apartment saves money and space.
And it often still includes a kitchen and bathroom.
I guess every inch counts in a micro-apartment!
Bigger apartments usually mean higher rent.
So some people save money by living in micro-apartments.
In these apartments, every square foot counts!
One girl in New York lives in an apartment that is 90 square feet!
Another apartment in London is only 80 square feet.
But it still includes a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
People who live in micro-apartments have to save space.
They store their things in lots of drawers and shelves all around their homes.
Last week we learned all about baking.
Susie can bake and Megan can cook.
Katie, are you going to talk about food?
Because I'm hungry!
I could use a snack.
Uh, Chris, we're in the middle of the show.
Can't you get a snack later?
I guess, Katie. But let's make this quick.
I am so hungry!
All right, all right. Friends, we should probably hurry.
So here is the first question.
What did the students in Susie's first baking class make?
Katie, why do we have to talk about this?
You know I'm hungry!
Uh, Chris, I know you are hungry.
But we have to help our friends review.
So answer the question.
What did the students bake?
Fine! The students made chocolate cookies and a lemon cake. Mmm.
I'm so hungry, Katie.
I must eat soon!
Well, we just have a little bit more to do, Chris, and no more talking about
food.
Last week Megan was planning her dream trip... her dream home.
Oh. I know what my dream home would be, Katie.
Would you like to hear about it?
Well, Chris, I thought that you were so hungry.
Don't you want to hurry?
Oh. Oh, uh, right. OK, then.
I'll tell you about my dream home later.
Carry on.
Thank you, Chris. OK, here is our next question.
Megan and Mark also looked at pictures of unusual houses.
What was the Walking House?
Oh! This house sounds cool!
I'd like to visit it.
Well, I would, too. But can you answer the question?
Yes, absolutely. I can.
The Walking House is a house that has legs.
It can walk around. Wait, Katie! That doesn't sound right.
How can a house walk around?
Well, that's a good question.
It gets its power from the wind and the sun.
That's how it moves.
Wow! That's so cool!
I want to live in a Walking House.
Well, me, too!
OK, Chris, let's get you some food now.
Friends, we're going to take a short break.
We will be right back.
(Music).
