Hello, friends, and welcome to our Saturday review show.
My name is Katie, and I'm so glad that you are here today.
This week, Susie got a new style.
But why does she want a haircut?
And who does she ask for advice?
Later in the week, we see that Megan is back.
And where did Megan stay while she was in France?
And we learned some great things from Rob's guest.
What is couchsurfing?
These are some important questions.
So I hope that you pay attention and find out the answers as we review this
week's lessons.
(Music).
Hi, Susie.
What do you have there?
This is some information about a salon.
A salon?
Do you want a haircut?
I'm thinking about one.
Your hair is nice now.
Why do you want a haircut?
I just need a change.
Do you want really, really short hair?
No, I do not!
Why don't you color your hair?
That's too crazy for me.
I'm not talking about blue or green hair!
Pick a pretty brown color.
The hairdresser can help you.
Maybe.
I'm not sure.
Look at some magazines.
You can see a lot of different haircuts and hair colors.
Great!
I can choose a good picture.
Then you can show the picture to the hairdresser!
Yes. Now I need some magazines.
I have some!
You can also just ask the hairdresser for advice.
Oh, OK.
He can suggest a new style.
I'm a little worried.
He might suggest something crazy.
Then tell him, "No, thank you." He can suggest something else!
Hi, Rob.
I need some advice.
Hey, Susie.
Advice about what?
I need hair advice.
I'm getting a haircut soon.
Oh, nice!
Get a haircut like mine!
No, no, not that short.
I just want something simple.
You want something simple but stylish.
Right.
This is a magazine about hair.
I like that haircut.
That style will look good on you.
I can't decide about the color, though.
I like my own color.
Then don't change it.
There are other ways to change your style.
Like what?
Check out these other beauty tips.
Wow!
I can get a manicure!
I didn't think about that!
My sister loves to get her nails done!
Fun!
And I do need a manicure.
The magazine talks about a foot spa.
Look.
What's a foot spa?
It's a special treatment for your feet.
Someone on my show talked about it once.
What a great idea!
I can try that too.
But, Susie, a foot spa won't change your style.
No.
But it will feel good!
And that's important, too!
Megan! You're back!
How was your trip?
It was so much fun!
But I have jet lag today.
Oh, no!
What's the time in France now?
It's 5 in the evening.
France is six hours ahead of us.
I see!
Your body wants dinner!
And soon, my body will want sleep.
My body is confused!
It sure is!
So what did you think of France?
France is such a beautiful country! But it's very crowded this time of year.
Summer is tourist season!
You're right.
Where did you go?
I went to Paris for two days and Nice for seven days.
Nice?
Where is that?
It's in the south of France.
Is France very expensive?
Yes, it is.
Everything there costs a lot of money.
Did you travel alone?
Yes.
It was fun!
Were you lonely or bored?
No!
I read a lot.
I finished five books during my trip!
You had a great vacation!
Maybe I can plan a trip soon!
Tell us about France, Megan!
What was it like?
Really fun!
There's a lot to see and do there!
Did you visit the Eiffel Tower?
Or the Louvre?
I did!
I visited those in Paris.
Then I went to the beach in Nice!
Were your hotels nice?
I didn't stay at hotels.
I stayed in hostels!
Hostels?
That's an interesting choice.
It was!
The hostels weren't fancy.
But they were cheap!
Why not stay at a motel?
Even the motels in France are expensive!
Did you have to share a room with strangers?
Not in Paris.
But I shared a room with four people at my hostel in Nice!
Wasn't that dangerous?
Did they steal anything from you?
No.
They were just people like me.
Were they friendly?
Yes, very friendly!
There were two sisters from China and a couple from England.
That sounds safe.
Still, you should always be careful at a hostel.
I never left my money or camera in the room.
That was smart.
(Music).
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to Let's Talk.
Do you like to travel?
But maybe you don't have a lot of money.
Well, one way that you can save money when you travel is to couchsurf.
And here to tell us all about couchsurfing is Ms. Christy Couchsurfer.
Welcome, Christy!
Tell us, what is couchsurfing?
You can couchsurf when you travel.
You stay in someone's home for free!
Do you sleep on their couch?
Sometimes!
Or you might sleep in a bed.
Is it safe to stay with a stranger?
Usually!
It's best to choose a host who has a lot of good reviews.
And you find these reviews online?
Yes, they're on the couchsurfing website.
So if I want to couchsurf, where do I start?
First, go to the website.
Search for hosts in the places you're traveling.
OK.
Then what?
You'll see a list of hosts.
Look through their profiles.
How do I contact a host?
Message them. Tell them a little about yourself, your trip and when you want to
stay.
It sounds interesting.
But I think I'd rather stay at a hotel!
Couchsurfing is a good way to save money when you travel!
Hosts offer a couch or bed to someone - for free!
If you want to couchsurf, go to www.couchsurfing.org.
Search for a host in the place where you want to travel.
Check out their profiles.
When you find a good host, message them.
But be careful - couchsurfing means staying in a stranger's home.
A hotel is sometimes easier and safer.
So which would you rather do?
Think about it!
Hello, friends, it's time to review this week's lessons.
And lucky for all of us, I have my friend Chris, the Jungle Cafe bird here.
Yes, I am here to help.
I love answering questions.
Well, that's good, Chris, because I am full of questions.
Are you ready?
I am always ready, Katie.
All right.
Here we go.
We learned this week that Susie wants to change her style.
But why is Susie worried?
Hmm. Good question, Katie.
Well, thank you, Chris.
Now what's the answer?
Right, right, right.
Susie is worried because the hairdresser might suggest something crazy!
You are right!
Good job!
Susie says she needs something else, too.
What does she need?
Susie needs a manicure.
You're right!
Chris, you are on a roll.
Katie, I'm Chris the bird.
I am always on a roll with questions.
Well, let's not get too carried away.
You still have to answer another question.
Another question?
Of course.
This is review time, Chris.
Oh, OK, OK.
Well, uh, let's hear it then.
OK. This is a good question.
Where did Megan stay when she was in France?
Katie! That's such an easy question!
Well, then tell me the answer.
Megan stayed at hotels!
Ha, ha, I'm right.
Actually, Chris, you're wrong.
The answer is...
(Background Noise).
She didn't stay in a hotel? That's crazy!
No, she stayed in a...
Wait!
I remember! I remember!
Megan stayed in hostels.
That's right.
Good job, Chris.
I knew you could do it.
OK, friends, it's time to take a shortbreak.
