Hi, friends.
Now today we have a fun game to play with you.
We're going to use all of today's key words to tell you a key word story.
Why don't you start, Katie?
OK, I will.
Carla the cat had many things she like to eat, such as fish.
But Carla had a problem.
All the food was on the top shelf.
She needed to find something useful so she could get to the food.
Then she found something valuable - a ladder.
She could climb to the top of the shelf.
You know what this means, don't you?
Carla can eat the fish.
OK, friends, that is our key word story.
And now let's review today's lesson.
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Now there's a question that I've been asking myself.
It's a question about libraries.
Are libraries still important?
Well, to help us answer this question, I have a very special guest here.
Please help me welcome Ms. Lisa Librarian.
Welcome to the show, Lisa Librarian!
Thanks, Rob.
So Lisa, are libraries still important in this digital age?
I think so!
And I'm not just saying that because I'm a librarian.
But many people read books online or with an e-reader.
Do we really need libraries?
We do.
Libraries provide communities with many useful services.
Such as letting people borrow books and DVDs for free?
That's right.
What else do libraries provide?
Libraries have computers and free Internet.
They usually also offer helpful classes and children's programs.
Those are valuable services.
They are.
Also, people just enjoy looking through the shelves and finding books.
I enjoy that.
And these days, many people want to borrow e-books, not buy them.
That's true.
So you know what this means, don't you, Rob?
Libraries are still important.
We live in a digital age.
People go online to read, or they use e-readers.
So what does that mean for libraries?
Are they still important?
Many people think so.
People still like to go to a library and look through books on the shelves.
Also, libraries provide useful services, such as free Internet, helpful classes
and children's programs.
These services are valuable to many people.
Hello, Monkey Man.
Monkey Man! I said hello!
Sorry, Ginger. I'm a little busy right now.
Busy doing what?
I'm downloading books from the library.
You're getting more books?
Mmhm. Why not? They're free.
And I'm downloading DVDs from the library, too.
You're getting more movies?
Why not? They're free.
Wow! Libraries are useful.
They sure are.
Libraries have free Internet.
I like free things.
Yeah, most people do.
Uh, most monkeys do, too.
Do libraries offer anything else?
Sure. Sometimes they offer classes and children's programs.
Ooh, and monkey programs, too.
Wow, libraries are important.
Yes, they are very important.
Just like me! I'm important, too.
Yeah.
I hope they have monkey programs.
They do.
Hello.
(Chinese).
(Music).
Calendar Phrase.
I enjoy that.
I enjoy that.
(Chinese).
I like watching TV.
I enjoy that.
I like reading good books.
I enjoy that.
I like eating pizza.
I enjoy that.
But I don't like waiting in lines.
No one enjoys that.
I enjoy that.
I enjoy that.
(Chinese).
This has been a great week and month of learning.
We hope that you enjoyed it.
But Nathan, let's answer a question first.
I want to know what you think.
Do you think libraries are still important?
Well, yes, I do think that libraries are still very important.
Because if there weren't libraries, I don't think that we would find other books
that we are interested in very easily.
That's true.
I think that libraries are important because you can find many books there.
And they are for free.
Now friends, what do you think?
Do you think libraries are still important?
Maybe you should see what your local library has to offer.
It may be very useful to you.
And we hope our show is useful to you as well.
Now join us again tomorrow right here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye.
Visit your local library.
