1. The students are lack of vocabulary.
2. They don’t often use English to express and
communicate with others.

are afraid of making mistakes.

Step 1. Lead-in
Before reading the story,ask Ss whether
they heard about the story “The Fisherman
and the Fish”. If they have,talk about the
story in Chinese
1.Ask and answer about the story:
(1) Do you know this story?
(2) what’s the meaning of this story?
2.Ask students to read through the story
and check if the main idea of the story they
talked about is correct
Step 2 Presentation
1.Show the PPt and let the stuednts watch it.
2.Listen to the tape about this story and think
about some easy questions:
(1) Who is kind ?
(2) Who is greedy?
3.Read the story
4.Then listen to the tape again and answer
these questions
(1) What were the fisherman’s wife’s four
wishes?
(2) What was the weather like when each of
her wishes was made?
(3) At last, what happened to the fisherman
and his wife?
(4) what can we learn from the story?
(5) what would you wish for if you found the
golden fish?
5. Read together with the tape.
6. Retell this story by himself/herself.

• Do exercises in workbook on page 65
Step 4 Oral practise
1. Make up a dialogue with partner to scan this
story
2. Talk about : what would you wish for if I
catch this golden fish?
3. Talk about : what can we learn from the
story?
4. Ask the students to act out this story.

write a composition about the greedy story.
