Unit12 English programmes 一、教学目标与要求 本单元的教学目标是使学生熟练掌握有关提出建议的常用语句,并运用到 日常交际中。能根据各种不同的情况,使用得体的语言,提出各种建议;并对他 人提出的建议予以正确应答。学习并掌握动词不定式作主语的用法。通过对课文 的学习,了解有关英语广播及电视节目的一些常识。并运用所学语言,对上述内 容进行口头和书面形式的表述和描写。 二、教学重点与难点 1.重点词汇 inpossible;advice;international;service;special; explanation;wave;short wave;learner;the more…the…;give advice;China Radio International;BritishBroadcasting Corporation;on the air;the World Service;write to;pick up;once again;such as 2.重要句型 1)What do you find hardest in English?2)The more you listen to Eng-lish,the easier it becomes.3)If you do have difficulties,it is better to try once again anotherday.4)They are of great help to learners of English. 3.语法 动词不定式作主语:1)Sometimes it is impossible to understand.2)Is it ex-pensive to buy a short-wave radio?3)It is not easy to pick up BBC English programmes. 4.日常交际用语 建议(Making suggestions):1)The more you listen to English,theeasier it becomes.2)Why not buy some English tapes/books? 3)You’d better see moreEnglish films.4)Why don’t you watch more English programmes on TV?5)Well,you justneed a lot of practice. 三、课型 (一)对话课 Ⅰ.教具 录音机,投影仪。 Ⅱ.课堂教学设计 1.教师通过以下步骤导入本课:向学生提出下列问题:1)Do you find English difficultto learn?If you do,please tell me why.2)If you want to improve your listening,whatshould you do?3)We don’t have foreign teachers in our school.If we want to listen to na-tive speakers speak English,what should we do? 通过学生的回答,引出本单元的标题。 2.准备放对话录音。借助投影片打出以下听前提问:1)What does Zhou Lan find reallyhard?2)What does Bruce ask her to buy? 放录音一至两遍,请学生回答上述问题,教师予以必要订正。 Key:1)Zhou Lan finds listening really hard.2)Bruce asks her to buy a radio. 根据本课对话内容,教师再提出一些问题,检查学生的理解程度。 1)What does Zhou Lan find the most difficult in learning English?2)Why does Brucesuggest that Zhou Lan buy a radio?3)What other suggestion does Bruce give in order to im-prove Zhou Lan’s listening?4)Do you agree that if you find an English pen friend your writ-ten English will be improved?Please give your explanations. 3.再放对话录音,学生跟读。将学生分为两人一组练习对话。数分钟后,请 两组同学到前面表演。 4.要求学生将该课对话改写为一篇短文。教师可给予必要的提示。 提示语:1)Zhou Lan tells Bruce her trouble.2)Bruce gives her some advice.3)ask herto listen more 4)ask her to buy a radio 5)tell her to have a pen friend 将首句给出:Zhou Lan told Bruce that she found it very difficult to understand spokenEnglish. 要求学生根据对话,参照老师所给提示及首句,编写短文。 Model: Zhou Lan told Bruce that she found it very difficult to understand spoken English.Brucegave some advice to her and said that the more she listened,the easier English would be-come.He told Zhou Lan to buy a radio so that she could receive English programmes on theradio.When Zhou Lan said that she had some difficulty in her written English,Bruce sug-gested that she find an English pen friend. 5.教师指导学生归纳在本课中有关提出建议的常用语句(见日常交际用语 部分)。也可为学生设计一些情景,启发同学运用这部分语言,为别人提出建议 Samples: 1)Someone’s English is very poor.He/She can’t understand the English teacher.Please give some suggestions and advice.2)Someone can not read the English text aloud verywell.Whenever he reads the text aloud,he has to stop very often and he can never give acomplete sentence.Please give some advice.3)Someone’s spelling is very poor.Wheneverhe/she writes in English,he/she will make a lot of spelling mistakes.Could you give somesuggestions? 6.布置作业 1)预习第 46课;2)完成练习册中安排的练习。 (二)阅读理解课 Ⅰ.教具 录音机,投影仪。 Ⅱ.课堂教学设计 1.检查生词及短语。 2.教师通过以下提问导入正课:1)Do you often listen to radio programmes?2)Do youlisten to English programmes?3)Does anyone know CRI,China Radio International?4)Doesanyone know BBC or VOA(Voice of America)?5)Do you listen to English programmesbroadcast by CRI,BBC or VOA?(注) 3.教师给出读前提问:1)What people is BBC English for?2)How can you pick up theBBC English programmes? 教师给学生数分钟,要求学生快速阅读课文。之后请同学回答上述问题。 Key:1)BBC English is for people who want to improve their English.2)If you use ashort-wave radio you can pick up the BBC English programmes. 4.放课文录音,学生跟读一至两遍。教师就课文内容提问,检查学生的理 解程度(可参阅练习册中所列出的问题)。 5.教师用投影仪打出以下 statements,要求学生判断其正误。并对错误的 statements进行修改。 1)Bush House is the home of BBC.2)The World Service broadcasts programmes in languages.3)There is only one special grammar programme from BBC English.4)There isa programme on BBC about the life in Britain.5)BBC English programmes for Chinese learn-ers have explanations in Chinese.6)It is impossible to find out information about BBC Eng-lish programmes.7)If you write to BBC English you can get a short-wave radio.8)Chinahas also lots of good English language programmes broadcast on TV or the radio.9)BBCEnglish has many good English language programmes for Chinese learners.For example:Radio English on Sunday,Follow Me and Follow Me to Science and so on.10)BBC pro-grammes never change. Green to drive Jim to school every day,for he sometimes had to go to other cities on business.A few days later Jim gothis new bicycle.He then had to practise riding the bike for some time.Since there are tens of thousands of people in the busy streets,Mrs.Green often said to him,“Remember,the more slowly you ride,the safer it will be.” 用自己的语言,描写第 47页的插图。 Model: Look at the picture.That’s Bruce over there.He has just bought a short-wave radio andhe is now listening to China Radio International.He wants to improve his Chinese.ChinaRadio International broadcasts all kinds of programmes on how to learn Chinese.Bruce istrying very hard.And he has got a book to go with the programmes.We hope he can speakwonderful Chinese one day. 4.教师用投影仪打出以下表格,组织学生俩人一组,利用课文中所提供的 信息填写表格。 Say something about BBC English programmes. 学生先在小组内交流并相互启发、补充,然后请学生根据填写的内容,用自 己的语言描述 BBC英语节目。 5.布置作业 1)预习第 13单元;2)完成练习册中安排的练习。 四、难句分析 1.The more you listen to English,the easier it becomes.你英语听得越多, 就会觉得越容易。 在汉语中我们常说“越……,就越……”。英语中相应的句式就是 The+比 较级…,the+比较级…。例如: The more,the better.越多越好。 The more I read the book,the more I liked it.这本书我越看越喜欢。 The easier the text is,the happier they will be.课文越容易,他们就越高兴。 2.And why not buy some English tapes and some books to go with them?你 不妨买些英语录音带并买些与录音带配套的书。 在这个句子中,go with…是“与……相配、相称”的意思。例如: That tie doesn’t go with your shirt.这条领带与你这件衬衫不相配。 Potatoes don’t go with ice cream.土豆不能与冰激凌一起吃。 3.It is necessary to use a short-wave radio to pick up the programmes.需要用 短波收音机才能收听到这个节目。 在这个句子中,pick up是“收听”的意思。接收广播、电视节目都可以用 pick up。这个短语有多种意思,如“拾起”、“得到”、“取”、“接某人(上 车)”等。例如:She saw a bag on the ground and picked it up.她看到地上有一 个包,就把它捡了起来。Where did you pick up that book?你从哪儿得到这本书 的?I’ll pick you up at the hotel at three.我三点钟到旅店来接你。At the next stop the bus picked up three more people.在下一站又有三个人上了这辆公共汽车。 4.Many of them are well received,such as Follow me,Follow Me to Science.其中许多节目,如《跟我学》、〈跟我学科学〉,都很受欢迎。 再列举一些东西作为例子时,常用 such as,相当于汉语中的“如、比如、例 如”等。例如: He has been to many countries,such as Japan,Australia,Canada,England and so on.他去过很多国家,如日本、澳大利亚、加拿大、英国等等。 5.They are of great help to learners of English.它们(那些节目)对英语学 习者是很有帮助的。 be of help相当于 be helpful。因此,上面这句话就相当于 They are very helpful to learn-ers of English.类似的结构还有 be of value,be of importance,be of use等。例如: This decision is of great importance.这个决定非常重要。 相当于:This decision is very important. That dictionary was of no use.那本字典没有用。 相当于:That dictionary was not useful.
