Unit 12 Mainly revision
一、教学目标与要求
本单元是总复习。复习的要点为第 7至 11单元中出现的语法现象和日常交
际用语,并在学生理解的基础上,强调运用的熟练程度。学生能较为自如地运用
上述单元中出现的语言现象进行表达;在提高综合运用能力方面下工夫,尤其
是要落实到笔头方面;在理解课文的基础上,要求学生能用自己组织的语言复
述课文;正确完成练习册安排的练习;为全面总复习打好基础。
二、教学重点与难点
1.重点词汇 attack;frighten;pale;stare;bend;attract;flow;exact;
recent;the other day;for one thing;stare at;hold one’s breath;carry off;so
as to;fall over;suggest doing;speed up;run out of
2.重要句型 1)I suggest we go shopping together and look for a nice
tank.2)Is there anything else that I ought to get?3)She had the surprise of her
life.4)She was just about to open the window and shout at the dog to frighten

3.语法 复习第 7至 11单元中出现的语法项目。
4.日常交际用语 复习第 7至 11单元中出现的日常交际用语。复习表示提出
建议和应答。 1)I think you should get a tank if you want to keep the fish. 2)I
suggest we go shopping together and look for a nice tank.3)You ought to get a few
large rocks to put in the tank.4)You need to get some underwater plants.
三、课型
(一)对话课
Ⅰ.教具 录音机、投影仪。
Ⅱ.课堂教学设计
1.教师通过以下步骤导入本课:
向学生提出下列问题: 1)Is there anyone in our class who keeps fish at
home?2)What about your neighbor?Do they keep fish?3)Do you think that
some of the fish are very beau-tiful?4)Where do you keep the fish if you have
some?5)After learning the dialogue,please don’t forget to tell me whether you
would like to keep fish yourself.
2.准备放对话录音。借助投影片打出以下听前提问:1)Where do you think
the conversa-tion takes place?A.At a shop B.In a street market C.On their way
home2)What does Li Qun advise Kate to put in the tank?
放录音一至两遍,请学生回答上述问题,教师予以必要订正。
Key:1)C(It is the only probable answer.)2)Li Qun advises Kate to put
some large rocks and underwater plants in the tank.
3.再次放对话录音,学生跟读。根据本课对话内容,教师再提出一些问题,
检查学生的理解程度。

bowl?4)What does Li Qun suggest doing?5)Why is it a good idea to put some

4.学生再次练习对话。教师将学生分为两人一组练习对话。数分钟后,请两
三组同学到前面表演。
教师指导学生归纳本课中有关提中建议和应答的常用语句(见日常交际用
语部分)。组织学生两人一组,练习书上 Practice中听列内容。
5.要求学生摘出本课对话中有关向别人介绍如何养鱼的要点,逐一列出。
数分钟后,请几住回学向别人介绍如何养鱼,教师予以讲评。
Model:
1)First you should get a tank if you want to keep fish.Do not use a small
round bowl,otherwise the fish will not get enough air.2)The tank can be about 30
centimetres(cm)by 30 cm by 50 cm.Check the prices before you decide to buy
one tank.3)You ought to get a few large rocks to put in the tank.Because fish
love swimming round the rocks and through holes in them.4)You need to get some
underwater plants.Because they can keep the water clean and also they make the
tank look much prettier.
6.布置作业 1)预习第 46课;2)完成练习册中安排的练习。
(二)阅读理解课(Ⅰ)
Ⅰ.教具 录音机、投影仪。
Ⅱ.课堂教学设计
1.检查生词及短语。
2.教师通过以下提问导入正课:1)Have you ever been to the zoo?
2)What do you see there?3)Do you think some of the animals are dangerous?
Please give some examples.4)What might happen if a dangerous animal escapes
from the zoo?
鼓励学生积极用英语发表自己的看法。
3.准备阅读课文。教师给出读前提问:1)What did the radio ask the people
to do if they saw the lion?2)What did Mrs.Cousins do after the lion went into the
bush with the meat?
教师给学生数分钟,要求学生快速阅读课文,之后请同学回答上述问题。
Key:1)The radio asked the people to telephone the zoo and the police if they
saw the lion.2)Mrs.Cousins ran to the table,picked up her baby in her
arms,ran inside and shut the door.
4.放课文录音,学生跟读一至两遍。教师针对课文内容提问,检查学生的

5.课堂活动
组织学生两人一组,模仿Mrs.Cousins和她的邻居在电话中通话,
Mrs.Cousins把她亲眼所见告诉邻居。
学生先在小组内交流并相互启发、补充,然后请学生在班上交流,教师予以
讲评。
6.布置作业 1)复述课文;2)完成练习册中所安排的练习。

1.通过提问温习第 46课内容:1)What had escaped from Green Park zoo?
2)Was it dangerous?3)What should people do if they saw it?4)Why did
Mrs.Cousins carry her ba-by outside?5)What did she do after she put her baby
outside?6)Why did she suddenly have the surprise of her life?7)How did she
manage to get the animal away from her baby?
2.检查课文复述。
3.准备阅读第 59课,教师给出读前提问:Where did the police find the
lion?
教师给学生两分钟,要求学生快速阅读课文,之后请同学回答上述问题。
Key:The police found the lion in the bushes and it was eating the meat.放课
文录音,学生跟读一至两遍。
4.课堂活动 将学生分为 12人一组。每组内学生由A到 L编号。每个学生又
按其编号拿到由A到 L的纸条。在这些纸条上,分别写有以下句子:
A.Mrs.Cousins rushed out to pick up the baby into the house and shut the
door.
B.The lion which had escaped from the zoo got into her garden.
C.The next morning Mrs.Cousins carried her baby outside and left it alone in
a basket under a tree.

在学生拿到纸条之后,教师要求每个学生在短时间内记住自己的句子。然后
交回纸条。每个学生根据记忆说出自己的句子,并排成正确的顺序。各组可展开
竞赛。

2.教师从本单元词语中选择部分常用词语,配以例句介绍给学生。要求学
生反复练习这些例句,并请同学造句,教师予以讲评、订正。

3.书面表达练习
Suppose you are a keeper working in the zoo in southeast London.Say
something about the young lion that escaped from the zoo and how your colleague
(同事)and you caught the lion at last.Try to use the information from the reading
comprehension.

One possible version:
I’m a keeper working in the zoo in southeast London.This morning I drove to
our zoo to work as usual.When I arrived at the zoo,my colleague,Bob,told me
that a young lion had escaped from the zoo as a result of the hurricane the night
before.Charlie,the manager,told us to get our“pipes”ready and be prepared to
search for the lion at any time when needed.
At about 1:30 in the afternoon,we were told to go out immediately,for it
was reported that the lion had appeared in the bushes in a lady’s garden.We drove
our truck as fast as we could.When we got there,we found the garden had already
been surrounded by the police.And the lion could be seen in the bushes,eating
something.We walked quietly towards the bushes.As we got near,I pointed my
pipe at the lion and fired.The lion made a sudden an-gry noise and struggled to its
feet.After a moment,it fell over and lay still.In this way we caught the lion and
took it back to the zoo.

四、难句分析
1.For one thing they keep the water clean.Also they make the tank look much
pretti-er.一则它们(指水下植物)可以使水保持清洁,再者它们可以使水箱看
起来更加漂亮。
for one thing意为:首先,常用来举出理由,用在 For one thing…;for
another或 For one thing…also…的结构中,意为:首先……;其次……。例如:
For one thing there isn’t time;for another we haven’t enough money.首先,
没有时间;再者,我们也没有足够的钱。
I can’t go—for one thing I have no money,and for another,I have too much
work.我不能去。首先是我没有钱,其次我的工作太多。
2.She was just about to open the window and shout at the dog to frighten
it,when she stopped and stood quite still.她正准备打开窗户,大声吓唬一下那
条狗,这时她突然停住了,站着一动也不动。
be about to do sth.意为:正要做某事。例如:
Don’t go away.We’re about to start.不要走开,我们马上就开始了。
He met her in the doorway just as she was about to leave.正当她要离开房间
时,他在门口碰见了她。
be about to do sth.这一结构常和 when连用,表示:正在……时,发生了
……事。例如:
The headmaster was about to leave the office when suddenly a boy rushed in.
校长正要离开办公室,这时一个男孩冲了进来。
I was about to go to bed when there was a knock at the door.我正要去睡觉,
忽然听到敲门声。
3.Mrs.Cousins held her breath,and her body went cold.卡曾斯太太屏住
气,全身发冷。
hold one’s breath意为:屏住气;不出声。例如:
He held his breath as the runners rushed towards the finishing line.当赛跑运动
员向终点冲刺时,他紧张地屏住了气息。
She held her breath and dived.她屏住气开始下潜。
在 her whole body went cold中,went为连系动词,意为:变得。例如:
The milk has gone bad.牛奶变质了。
His black hair was going grey.他的头发变得花白了。
4.After a moment,it fell over and lay still.不一会儿,它(指狮子)就摔
倒在地,一动不动了。
句中 lay still可以看作是系表结构,lie(过去式为 lay)可以理解为
remain。lay still相当于 remained unmoving。除 lie以外,stand,sit等动词也可接
形容词作表语。例如:
He stood still without saying anything.他一句话不说,一动不动地站在那里。
She sat motionless,waiting for the decision.她坐着不动,等着做出决定。
