Unit 4 In my classroom(A) (Edition: Primary English for China, Book 3) Teaching aims: Language aims: 1. to learn the numbers from 11- 20 2. have fun in learning English and love English learning Teaching procedures: Steps Aims Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Mediums I. Sing a song Ten little Indians Warm up and revise the numbers from 1-10. Play the flash and sing with the Ss. Sing the song together. Computers, TV. II. Revise the numbers from 1-10. Prepare for the new learning. Show the number cards one by one. Students say loudly together. Number cards III. Presentation Teach the numbers from 11-20 (pronunciation) 1. Pretend to be the Math teacher and ask Ss a question: what is 10 and 1? Write on board: 10+1= Teacher says eleven clearly. Teach the rest of numbers by the same way: 10+2=12 10+3=13… (Books closed) Watch and listen. S1(confident one): eleven The whole class follows. Help students to spell the new words and learn the sounds. 2. Say eleven and write on board e_e_en The same way with the other new words. The students try to tell the missing letters according to the word’s pronunciation. Read the word while recognizing its spelling. 3. Use several ways to make students to read after teacher, e.g., using different tones to read the words, playing the game 1.2.3 Bomb. Say after teacher. Use the opposite tone of teacher’s saying. Play the game. (If teacher says the word correctly, follow, if teacher makes mistake, keep silence. The one who gets wrong would be bombed.) Play the Cassette. (Books open) Students repeat after the beeps, pointing to the words. Tape recorder IV. Practice To say and use the numbers freely. 1. Prepared 20 pencils and have students count. Ss: one , two,… nineteen, twenty 20 pencils. 2. Play a guessing game. Teacher grasps a bundle of pencils and has Ss guess how many pencils there are. Students guess how many pencils there are (group competition) S1: eight S2: eleven S3: fifteen… 20 pencils. 3. Put the number cards on board in correct order. Wipe off some of the numbers. Do the same with the words. Students tell what is missing. Number cards. One side is the number and the other side is the words. V. Production Finish the workbook exercise on page 16.
