Unit 26 Mainly revision 一、教学目标与要求 通过本单元复习,使学生进一步熟悉在本册书中所出现的语法项目和日常 交际用语。复习中,以学生的语言实践、口笔头练习为主,尤其注重笔头的落实。 通过对课文的学习,使学生了解世界上一些地区贫富悬殊的情况。学生用自己的 语言,描述这篇感人的故事。 二、教学重点与难点 1.重点词汇 live(adj.);realize;persuade;provide;sail;turn down; call back;ringoff;start doing something;come to 2.重要句型 1)His greatest success has not been in singing but in organizing othersingers to sing for him—for free!2)He persuaded all the world-famous pop stars to come andsing at one of these concerts for free.3)By the end of the year,the total money collected hadcome to over 92 million dollars,all of which were sent to Africa. 3.语法复习第 21至 25单元出现过的语法项目。 4.日常交际用语复习第 21至 25单元出现过的日常交际用语项目。 三、课型 (一)对话课 Ⅰ.教具 录音机,投影仪,电话机。 Ⅱ.课堂教学设计 1.教师通过以下步骤,导入本课: 向学生提出下列问题:1)Do you like to listen to pop music?2)Can you tell me some ofthe famous singers of pop music?3)Do you know that some singers collect money for thepoor? 2.准备放对话录音。借助投影片打出以下听前提问:1)Why does Bob Geldof make aphone call to Rik?2)When and where will the concert be held? 放录音一至两遍,请学生回答上述问题,教师予以必要订正。 Key:1)Because he wants him to play in a concert for him.2)The concert will be heldon July 13th in London. 根据本课对话内容,教师再提出一些问题,检查学生的理解程度。1)What was Rik doingwhen Bob made a phone call to him?2)Why does Rik say that he will ring back later?3)What does Bob say about the concert held on July 13th? 4)Who do you think Paula is? 3.再次放对话录音,学生跟读。将学生分为两人一组练习对话。数分钟后, 请两、三组同学到前面表演。 经数分钟练习后,教师可请几位同借助电话机学到前面进行表演,教师予 以讲评。提醒学生在打电话时不可对视。 4.教师指导学生归纳在本课中有关打电话的常用语句(见下表)。也可为 学生设计一些情景,启发同学运用这部分语言编小对话。 1)Hello.Is that…?2)Hello.Can I speak to…,please? 3)Yes,speaking.4)Justa minute,please.I’m sorry,he’s not here right now.5)Who’s calling?6)Yes,it’s…here.Can you ask him to call me back?7)Will you give him a message,please?8)Can youring me back right away?9)Sure.Later this evening.10)My number is….Tell him to askfor… or…OK? 情景 1:Someone is ill and does not go to school today.Now he is making a phone call toone of his classmates,asking about the lessons today and what they will do tomorrow. 情景 2:Someone has managed to buy two tickets for the women football match —Chinavs USA,for the champion—this coming weekend.She is making a phone call to her friend,telling her the news and planning when and where they are going to meet. 经数分钟练习后,教师可请几组同学到前面进行表演,教师予以讲评。也可 鼓励学生自己用其他情节编写对话。 5.布置作业 1)预习第 102、103课;2)完成练习册中安排的练习。 (二)阅读理解课(Ⅰ) Ⅰ.教具 录音机,投影仪。 Ⅱ.课堂教学设计 1.检查生词及短语。 2.教师通过以下提问导入正课:Now tell me,what do you think a successful singershould be.Or what does he/she have to do if he/she wants to become a successful singer? 让同学们发表自己的看法。借此机会可以复习有关单词和短语。 3.准备阅读An Interesting Life(Ⅰ)教师给出读前提问:1)Who is Bob Geldof?2)Whenand where was he born?3)How much money did he collect from selling the records for thepoor people in Africa? 教师给学生数分钟,要求学生快速阅读课文。之后请同学回答上述问题。 Key:1)Bob Geldof was one of the most famous pop stars of the twentieth century.2)He was born in Ireland in 1954.3)He collected 8 million pounds altogether. 4.放课文录音,学生跟读一至两遍。教师用投影仪打出以下 statements,要 求学生判断其正误。并对错误的 statements进行修改: 1)Bob Geldof is one of the most famous pop stars of the nineteenth century.2)BobGeldof was born in 1954 and his parents died when he was seven.3)After he left school heworked first as a worker building roads and later in a food factory.4)In Canada he began towrite about music for a newspaper and became interested in pop groups.5)Bob Geldof’s popgroup was the top one from 1979 to 1982.6)Bob Geldof’s life changed one October eveningbecause lots of copies of his record were sold and he earned a lot of money.7)The record“DO THEY KNOW IT’S CHRISTMAS”was a great success.8)When he reached Africa,herealized that hunger was the only problem in the African countries. In 1985 on July 13th,two big pop concerts were held on the same day,one in Englandand one in the USA.By the end of the year,the total money collected had come to overmillion dollars,and all this money was sent to Africa. 5.布置作业 1)准备总复习;2)完成练习册中安排的练习。 四、难句分析 1.His greatest success has not been in singing but In organizing other singers to sing forhim—for free!他的最大成功不在于他个人的演唱,而在于组织别的歌手 为他唱歌,而且是免费演唱。 1)句中的 not… but是一个连词词组,作“不是……而是”解,连接两个 并列的成分,表示意思上的转折。例如: Mr.Brown is not a lawyer but a doctor.布朗先生不是法官而是个医生。(连 接两个表语) The servant can’t read and write in English,but can speak English fluently. 这仆人不能读英语和写英语,但能流利地说英语。(连接两个谓语) They need not money but helpers.他们不需要钱,而是需要帮手。(连接两 个宾语) Not the students but the teacher is hoping to go there.不是学生而是老师希望 去那儿。(连接两个主语,注意:谓语动词要和紧靠它的主语在人称和数上一 致) 2)for free=for nothing(不计报酬地或免费地)作状语,修饰 to sing。短语 for free中的 free是形容词,形容词作介词的宾语较少见,但也不是没有,例如: His pronunciation is far from perfect.他的语音不是完美无缺。 2.If they managed to sell lots of copies,then the money from the record sales could bespent on food and other things for Africa.如果他们设法卖出大量的唱片, 那么卖唱片得来的钱就可以给非洲买食物和其他物品。 manage to do sth.是“设法完成”的意思。例如: Though the box is very heavy,I think I can manage to carry it.虽然这箱子是 很重,不过我想我可以设法把它运走。 注意:manage to do sth.有两层意思,一是设法完成,二是完成的是困难 的事情,不要把它和 try to do sth.混淆,try to do sth.是设法去做,未必成功。 试比较: He managed to catch up with the others.他设法赶上了别人。 He tried to manage to catch up with the others.他设法要赶上别人。 3.He persuaded all the world famous pop stars to come and sing at one of these concertsfor free.他说服了所有举世闻名的流行歌星来参加其中一个演唱会,进 行义务演出。 persuade sb.to do sth.(成功地)劝说某人做某事。例如: The organizer persuaded Dr.Baker to give a talk on ENT instead of the main speaker.(会议)组织者(成功地)劝说贝克博士代替大会发言人做一个关于 耳鼻喉科疾病的报告。 He did not do his homework carefully enough.I persuade him to do it all over again.他没有认真的做作业,我劝他把作业重新做了一遍。 注意:如果表示“劝说”,而不一定成功时,使用 try to persuade。例如: I tried to persuade the headmaster to allow us to play football at school,but I failed.我试图说服校长允许我们在学校踢足球,但是没成功。 此外,persuade+that clause表示:使……相信。例如: The naughty boy persuaded his mother that he was telling the truth.这个淘气 的男孩使他妈妈相信他讲的是实话。 4.By the end of the year,the total money collected had come to over 92 million dollars,all of which were sent to Africa.到那年年底,募集的钱数达 9200万美元,这些钱全部送往非洲。 1)the total money collected中的 collected是过去分词,作定语,修饰 the total money,相当于一个定语从句。 2)come to“达到,共计”。例如: The food I bought came to 50 yuan.我买的食物共计 50元。 In all,they come to 325 000 Chinese characters.总共有汉字 325 000个左右。 3)all of which were sent to Africa是由“不定代词+介词+关系代词”引导的 定语从句,类似的句子有: I watched a lot of American TV programmes,some of which impressed me deeply.我看过许多美国电视节目,其中有一些给我留下的印象很深。 Last week,Father gave me 50 yuan,most of which was spent on books.上周 父亲给我 50元,其中大部分用来买书了。
