Welcome back, friends.
It's a great time on our show.
It's time to play a game.
And today's game is called Fill in the...
Blank.
That's right.
I will say a sentence that is missing a word.
You have to tell us what key word should go in the blank.
Are you ready?
Here we go.
OK.
What (blank) do people speak in India?
Oh, so this sentence is a question.
What (blank) do people speak in India?
I know.
What language do people speak in India?
I think they speak many languages in India.
Don't they, Katie?
That's true.
I know a few languages.
I know they speak English and Hindi.
But there are many other languages they speak in India.
OK, good job, friends.
Try the game at home.
And now let's review today's conversations.
(Music).
Hey, Ken. Is Rob here?
No. He's not here yet.
Oh. He is going to the foreign film festival next week.
I have his tickets.
Why do you have his tickets?
We ordered them together.
Oh. OK.
Are you going to the festival, Ken?
Yes. I'm going with my girlfriend.
She loves foreign films.
Do you like foreign films, Ken?
Not really.
I am only going for my girlfriend.
Why don't you like foreign films?
I don't understand them.
Well, the films are in foreign languages.
I know that.
I can understand the words.
There are subtitles.
But you don't understand the stories.
Right. I don't understand the cultures, either.
I see.
And some of the movies are really boring.
True. But some of them are really interesting.
Maybe.
Where are the films from this year?
They are from around the world.
There are films from Russia, China and a few other countries.
Hmm. Maybe I can read about the films first.
Then I can understand the stories.
Good idea!
Hahaha... Look what I have!
Ooh! A funny hat?
No. I have tickets.
Hooray! We're going on a trip.
No, Ginger. These are not tickets for a trip.
Then what are they for?
These tickets are for a foreign film.
A foreign film?
That's right.
Hooray! We're going on a trip.
No. I told you.
These tickets are movie tickets.
Movie tickets to a foreign film, right?
Yes, that's what I said.
A foreign film is far away.
Hooray! We're going on a trip, Monkey Man.
Yes, a short trip to the movie theater.
Hey, that's not very foreign.
So...
Hello.
(Chinese).
(Music).
Calendar Phrase.
Where are the tickets?
Where are the tickets?
(Chinese).
It's time for the movie to start.
I can't wait.
Where are the tickets?
I have the tickets.
You do?
Where are the tickets?
I have the tickets.
Where?
Where are the tickets?
The tickets are... in your bag!
Oops. Ha, ha. I have the tickets.
Where are the tickets?
Where are the tickets?
(Chinese).
I think many of you probably watch movies in Chinese and in English.
Nathan, can you understand Chinese movies without English subtitles?
Well, I can understand a lot of it, but not all of it.
So I would rather watch Chinese movies with English subtitles.
It's just a little easier.
I agree.
I could never watch a Chinese movie without subtitles.
Now friends, it might be hard.
But watching an English movie is probably good practice.
You can learn a few words and phrases from watching movies.
It's a good help if you're trying to learn a different language.
Well, we really hope that you think this topic is interesting because tomorrow
we have part two of our lesson.
So make sure that you come back and join us for more right here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye.
(Music).
