It's time for a game here on Let's Talk in English.
You know what we're going to do for a game today?
We're going to sing the hokey pokey again!
Just kidding.
Actually, we're going to play a game called Fill in the...
Blank.
That's right.
You've played it before.
I will say a sentence with a blank.
And you need to figure out what key word goes in the blank.
Here's the sentence.
I learned lots of great (blank) about America at the history museum.
Hmm. I learned lots of great (blank) about America at the history museum.
What's the key word?
Oh, the key word is "facts." Am I right?
Of course you are right.
The sentence would be: I learned lots of great facts about America at the
history museum.
Museums are a great place to learn some facts.
Now let's review today's conversations.
(Music).
Hi, Susie.
What are you reading?
I'm looking at some information from the history museum.
I'm doing a story on their new exhibit.
The museum has a new exhibit?
Yes. The museum gets a new exhibit every six months.
It does?
I don't go there very often.
What is the exhibit about?
It's about the history of shoes.
Shoes? Who cares about shoes?
Lots of people.
There are many fun facts about shoes.
Tell me one.
Let's see...
Long ago in Europe, shoes had really pointy toes.
Really? Why?
I don't know.
Go to the exhibit and find out!
You can learn a lot of things at a museum.
You can!
Tell me another fact.
There were no left or right shoes until 1818.
Before that, both shoes were the same.
Really!
How long is the exhibit at the museum?
It's at the museum until December.
Maybe I can go to it.
Shoes are fun.
Who knew?
I didn't.
But now I do!
Ginger, why do you have all of these shoes?
This is my new exhibit.
New exhibit?
Yeah, I'm making a museum.
And this is my first exhibit.
A shoe exhibit. Hmm.
Uh, Ginger, who cares about shoes?
Oh, lots of people care about shoes!
There are many fun facts about shoes.
Fun facts.
OK, tell me one.
Uh, some shoes are small.
Well yes, these shoes are small.
What else?
Uh, some shoes are red.
OK, these shoes are red.
What else?
Uh, some shoes are smelly.
That's true.
These shoes are really, really smelly.
Yeah.
Where did you get these shoes?
Those are your shoes, Monkey Man.
(Music).
Hello.
(Chinese).
We are so glad you can study English with us.
And we care about you very much.
(Music).
Calendar Phrase.
Now I know.
Now I know.
(Chinese).
Guess what.
Bob is quitting.
Bob is quitting!
Now I know.
Mike is going on vacation.
Mike is going on vacation!
Now I know.
And Mary will be the new boss.
Mary will be the new boss!
Well, now I know.
Now everybody knows.
Now I know.
Now I know.
(Chinese).
Museums are a great topic.
There are so many interesting museums to visit, no matter where you are.
Do you have a favorite museum, Katie?
Well actually, my favorite museum is the Fine Arts Museum in Taipei.
It always has interesting exhibits.
And the art is beautiful.
I love to look at photographs and paintings.
And "exhibit" is a word that we talked about today.
I like the human body exhibit that I went to see several years ago.
It's very interesting and tells you a lot about your body.
For practice, try to ask your friends a question about today's lesson.
Practice speaking with each other.
And join us tomorrow for part two of our lesson, Do You Like Museums?
See you next time here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Bye-bye.
(Music).
