Well friends, it's that time again.
Let's play a game and see how much you learned today.
Let's play Two in One.
One of us will say a sentence with two key words in it.
You have to guess which key words are in that sentence.
Katie, it's your turn today, right?
That's right.
Here is my Two in One sentence.
I want to check out that huge bookstore.
I want to check out that huge bookstore.
Oh, "check out" is a phrase, but it's a key word.
And so is "huge".
You're right, Nathan.
Good job!
Friends, I'm sure that you were right, also.
Say your own two-in-one sentence at home with a friend.
Or try to make a three-in-one sentence.
It's great practice.
But now let's review today's conversations.
(Music).
Hi, Ken. Hi, Megan.
You look busy.
Hi, Susie.
I'm planning my trip to France.
Ken is helping me.
Nice!
But this website is about London.
Oh! You're flying through Heathrow.
Yes. I have a long layover there.
How long?
Four hours.
Wow! That is a long layover!
Right. I don't want to be bored!
But what can you do at an airport?
Lots of things, actually!
Heathrow is huge!
We're checking out the Heathrow website.
There are more than 80 stores in the airport!
And more than 40 restaurants.
Is four hours enough time?
I'm sure it is.
Let's find your terminal, Megan.
Then we'll look for restaurants and things to do there.
My flight to France leaves from Terminal 5.
What's there?
Well, there are more than 40 stores.
You can shop.
Great! Are there lots of restaurants, too?
Yes. Do you like art?
I guess. Why?
Terminal 5 has an art gallery!
Wow! You won't be bored at all!
Not at this airport!
Monkey Man, what are you doing?
Well, I'm checking out a website.
A website about bananas?
No. It's a website about airports.
Airports?
Mmhm.
Why do you want to know about airports?
Because I'm planning a trip.
It's important to know about airports.
Yeah. Yeah.
So tell me about airports, Monkey Man.
Well, this airport is huge.
It has 80 stores.
Oh, 80 stores. Wow!
And that's not all.
It also has 40 restaurants.
Wow!
Yeah. And that's not all.
It has an art gallery.
Hooray! Well, let's plan a trip.
OK. So where do you want to go?
To the airport! Yeah.
OK.
Hello.
(Chinese).
eREPORT.
Ah, it's summertime.
And do you know what that means?
It's time to be outside and enjoy a barbecue!
I'm Anna.
And this is eREPORT.
And today we're going to be outside seeing how Americans have a barbecue.
Many places around the world cook meat.
In America, cooking meat outside is fun.
Many families have barbecues in the summer.
A cook uses a grill or barbecue to cook the meat.
You can cook many kinds of meat.
Beef is the most popular.
Many people cook hamburgers or steak.
But you can also cook hot dogs or chicken.
People also cook vegetables on the grill.
Many people grill corn or peppers.
Some people also grill fruit.
It is very good.
A fire in the grill cooks the food.
Be sure to cook the meat carefully.
Don't let the fire get too big.
And don't cook it too long.
The meat may burn.
When the meat is cooked, it is ready to eat.
People then eat the meat with other things.
They can also eat salad, chips, cookies and fruit.
People have barbecues in many places.
Some people have them in their backyards.
Other people go to parks or the beach for a barbecue.
Mmm... Everything tastes delicious.
I love eating meat off the barbecue grill.
It really tastes good.
Thanks for joining us.
This is Anna for eREPORT at a barbecue.
Calendar Phrase.
What's there?
What's there?
(Chinese).
I'm going to the convenience store.
What's there?
Lots of snacks.
Hmm.
Then I'm going to the mall.
What's there?
A big sale.
Oh.
Then I'm going to Grandpa's.
What's there?
Grandpa!
Oh, yeah. Ha, ha,. Yeah.
What's there?
What's there?
(Chinese).
Well, today's lesson has been fun.
I really hope you liked it.
We talked a lot about travel today, and about the trip Megan will go on.
And we learned some interesting things about Heathrow Airport.
That's right.
Now Nathan, how long is Megan's layover at Heathrow?
I can find that answer in Conversation A.
She says she has a layover for four hours there.
That's a long layover.
But at least there are a lot of things for her to do.
She can go shopping and eat at a restaurant.
And go to an art gallery.
Wow! That layover doesn't sound too bad.
Well friends, come back tomorrow.
We will talk more about travel.
See you next time here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye.
See you later.
(Music).
