Hello again, friends.
Right now we want to tell you a key word story.
That's when we use all of the day's key words to tell a short story.
There are five key words today.
See if you can count them all.
And here is our story.
Ben was trying to think how he could solve this problem.
His neighbor kept complaining that he made a lot of noise.
Ben thought the first step was to find out how he was making noise.
But Ben was very quiet.
Still, he tried to be polite when his neighbor came.
But he was always very angry.
Sometimes he said he would contact the police.
Ben started to get angry, too.
But he knew that was childish.
He just tried harder to be quiet.
So what would you do if you were Ben?
That's a hard question.
Think about that while we review today's lesson.
(Music).
Hello, and welcome to Let's Talk!
Have you ever had problems with your neighbors?
Well, how did you handle that?
Our guest today is here to help us talk about noisy neighbors.
Please help me welcome Mr. Leo Law.
Welcome to our program, Leo.
Thank you, Rob.
Let's talk about noisy neighbors.
They are a common problem when people live close together.
But it's not an easy problem to solve.
No. But the first step is to have a polite conversation with the neighbor.
What should you say?
Say, "I'm not sure you're aware..." and tell them about the noise.
Then ask them if you make noise that bothers them.
What if your neighbor gets really angry when you talk about the problem?
Then don't contact them again.
Tell your landlord.
Let him talk to them.
Can you make noise to bother them because they are bothering you?
No, that is not a good idea.
That is childish and won't solve anything.
So what if they still make noise after the landlord talks to them?
Then you call the police.
When people live close together, noisy neighbors can be a problem.
The first step to solve the problem is talking to the neighbor.
Be polite when you explain the problem.
If they get angry, do not contact them again.
Let your landlord talk to them.
But don't make noise to bother them just because they bother you.
That is childish and will not solve the problem.
If you've tried everything and the neighbors still makes noise, call the police.
Well, today we're talking about noisy neighbors, like Ginger.
I'm not a noisy neighbor.
I'm a noisy monkey.
Yes, a noisy monkey that plays the drums at night.
Yeah, drums are fun.
Drums are noisy.
And I can't sleep when you play it.
Well, you can play the drums, too.
That's a good idea.
I'll play when you want to sleep.
And I'll make a lot of noise.
Monkey Man, that is so childish.
It won't solve anything.
You're right.
I'll write a letter to you.
Or I'll call the landlord.
Or...
Or I'll call the police.
Oh, never mind.
Don't call the monkey police.
I'll stop playing the drums.
I promise. Please! Please!
They'll come over and take you away.
No!
Hello.
(Chinese).
Mom...
Peter? Why are you still awake?
I'm scared.
Why are you scared?
There's a big, scary monkey hiding under my bed.
Oh. Did you see it?
No.
But that's when...
That's... that's when I'm... I'm scared...
When I...
Lights are off...
I need Super Sentence Man.
I am Super Sentence Man.
I'm glad you asked for me.
The super sentence is:
What if something happens when something else happens?
Like this: What if the big monkey comes out when I turn the light off?
Yeah. What if the big monkey comes out when I turn the lights off?
Excellent question.
Now before you go back to bed, do you have another way to use this super
sentence?
I think so.
What... what if you run out of water when you're hiking?
What if you run out of water when you're hiking?
Great question.
What about you?
Oh. Uh, sure.
What if it starts raining when you're on a picnic?
What if it starts raining when you're on a picnic?
These are great questions.
Now what question do you need to use with your mom?
What if the big monkey comes out when I turn the lights off?
And that's how you use a super sentence.
Say it with me, everybody.
A super sentence every day will make your English great.
Now Peter, if there's one thing that monkeys are scared of, it is super
sentences.
What about the big elephant in my closet?
Calendar Phrase.
Tell your landlord.
Tell your landlord.

(Chinese).
Now it's time for some Answer It questions.
Here's question one.

What is the first step to solve a problem with a neighbor?
Well, the answer is in Conversation A.

I hope you got that one right.
Number two.

How can you be a good neighbor?
Well first, I think you should try to be friendly.
You want to be friends with your neighbors.
Second, you should try not to be too loud yourself.
Do you do those things?
I hope so.
It was good to see you today.
And we hope you see... to see you again here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye.
Bye-bye.
