Hi, everyone.
Welcome to Let's Talk in English right here at LTE TV.
My name is Susie.
Well, we had a busy week, didn't we?
We talked about the two M's.
Do you remember?
Music and mothers - both start with M.
Music is fun.
You can play music or just listen.
We also talked about mothers.
And that's another letter M.
Mothers are so special.
And Mother's Day is tomorrow.
Anyway, let's review today's lessons.
And I want you to listen carefully because later we have some questions just for
you.
So listen and watch.
Hi, Susie! What instrument are you playing?
Hi, Joe! This is my ukulele.
It's so small!
Is it very heavy?
No, it's really light!
How do you play a ukulele?
Like this.
I can show you.
Nice! You're good, Susie!
Can I try it?
Of course!
I don't sound very good.
It's OK. You just need practice!
I do!
Do you practice a lot?
Yes, I play my ukulele every day.
Watch.
You're very good!
Can I learn?
Sure! I can teach you right now.
Thanks, Susie.
Maybe I can learn some cool songs.
Then I can play them for everyone!
Look at the ukulele.
It has four strings.
I see.
What's next?
I play chords with my left hand.
I use my fingers like this.
What about your right hand?
It makes the music!
How do you play a song?
I just read the music!
How do you do that?
I can teach you in your next lesson!
You play the guitar, Susie?
I didn't know that.
I don't play very well.
I'm still learning.
I used to play the guitar.
I played it when I was a teenager.
But you don't play now?
No. I quit playing.
Then I forgot everything!
Maybe you should start playing again!
The guitar is fun.
Maybe I will!
Playing the guitar is a good hobby.
Hey, Susie, you're playing the guitar!
Don't you play the ukulele?
I play both now.
I started to learn the guitar a few months ago.
Really! Are the two instruments similar?
Yes, actually, a ukulele is a kind of guitar.
But they sound different.
A ukulele only has four strings, right?
Yes. But a guitar usually has six!
Is the guitar harder to play?
Yes. Playing the chords is harder.
Why do you play both instruments?
Isn't one enought?
No! One is never enough!
More instruments are more fun!
Well, I have an instrument, too.
I use it a lot.
Try to guess it!
A ukulele?
The flute?
No! Guess again!
We give up.
What is it?
My voice!
Hey, Ken. Are you going home?
Yes. But first, I'm going to a department store.
I need a gift.
Is the gift for your girlfriend?
No. It's for my mother.
Mother's Day is Sunday.
Oh! That's right.
What are you giving your mother for Mother's Day?
I'm not sure.
My mom is very special.
She needs a special gift.
What does your mom like?
My mom likes books.
She reads a lot.
Then get her a book.
I get a book for her every year.
I want something different for her this year.
Does she like flowers?
Yes. But everyone gives flowers.
I'm looking for something unique.
How about chocolates?
Those aren't unique, either.
And my mom doesn't like sweets.
Do you have a good photo of your family?
Yes. Why?
Find the photo.
Make it large.
Then print it.
Then my mom can hang it on her wall.
Yes! It's something different.
And it is unique!
That's the perfect gift.
Thanks, Joe.
No problem.
Now I need something for my mother!
Hey, Rob.
Carol asked me to give you these papers.
Oh. Thanks, Megan.
What are you working on?
I'm preparing for tomorrow's show.
Who is the guest?
Mrs. Sarah Mere.
What does she do?
She's a housewife and a full-time mother...
That's great!
...of seven kids!
Seven?! Wow. That's a lot of kids.
You're right!
How does Mrs. Mere take care of seven children and not go crazy?
I don't know.
Her job isn't easy.
I'm sure!
Kids need a lot of love and attention.
They do. Moms work hard.
You're right.
Tell me about your mom.
My mom is amazing.
My dad traveled a lot for business.
So my mom raised my siblings and me alone most of the time.
You must really admire your mom.
I do.
My mom is the smartest, most generous woman I know.
She's my hero.
Does she know that?
I don't know.
Mother's Day is Sunday.
You should tell her.
You're right, Rob.
I will tell her.
(Music).
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to Let's Talk!
Sunday is Mother's Day.
So today we are going to talk with a supermom.
Please help me welcome Mrs. Sarah Mere.
Hi, Sarah! How are you?
I'm fantastic, Rob.
Great!
So Sarah, you are a full-time mother.
I am. I have seven children.
Seven! That's terrific!
How old are they?
I have two sets of twins.
They are 10 and 8.
Those are fun ages.
Yes. And my other children are 5, 3, and this is my youngest, Hannah.
She is 18 months old.
Hi, Hannah! Welcome to the show!
Sarah, it's rare these days for people to have so many children.
What is it like to have such a big family?
It is great, Rob.
Our house is always full of activity.
I'm sure!
But don't you ever get tired?
Being a mother does take a lot of energy, but I enjoy my family.
I spoke with some of your friends.
They call you a "supermom." What do you think about that?
I just love my family, Rob.
Each child is precious.
And I do my best to treat them that way.
Well, I think you are a super mom, Sarah.
Happy Mother's Day.
Thanks, Rob!
And happy Mother's Day to every mom.
We appreciate you!
Well, here we are. We're back.
Yes. Did you know the answers to the questions?
Well, let's find out.
Question one.
Which instrument usually has six strings?
Hmm, which instrument usually has six strings?
The guitar. right?
Right you are.
Now you ask me one.
Question two.
Who is Megan's hero?
Who is Megan's hero?
Oh, her mother!
That's a great answer.
Is that your answer, too, Susie?
Well, my hero is not Megan's mother.
But my hero is my mother.
Oh, good job, Susie.
Well, everyone, it's almost Mother's Day.
Hooray! I always enjoy Mother's Day.
Me, too!
And here's something else to enjoy.
Really? What's that?
A nice little break.
Do you need a break?
I know Ido.
