Hello, friends.
Let's play a game called I Know It!
I Know It!
Do you know it?
All right, I will talk about one of our key words.
When you know which key word it is, say, "I know it!" and tell me what it is.
OK, this key word is...
Well, when something is too long or slow, you use this key word.
Well, when something's not very interesting, you use this key word.
I know it! I know it! I know it, Kevin.
What is it?
You are talking about the key word "boring." If something is too long or it's
not interesting, it's boring.
Well, our conversations are not boring.
We learned a lot from them together.
So let's review today's conversations right now.
Goodbye, Susie.
I'm going home.
That's nice.
I can't go home yet.
Why not?
It's after 5:30.
I still have work.
You must have a lot of work.
I'm sorry.
I don't have a lot of work.
I have a problem!
What is your problem?
Trent Simons.
He's a new reporter.
He talks too much!
I know him.
He's just a friendly guy.
He's too friendly.
He talks all the time.
But he's fun.
He tells funny stories.
And I laugh.
I don't.
Some of his stories are boring.
And I'm busy.
I am busy sometimes, too.
So I don't let Trent talk to me then.
That's not easy.
I try.
He doesn't take a hint.
I know.
Trent bothers me sometimes, too.
He bothers everyone.
He talks to everyone.
He talks all the time!
He doesn't talk all the time.
Yes, he does.
I'm serious, Ken.
I can't do my work.
He's always bothering me.
We can talk to Carol about him.
Maybe she can do something.
I hope so!
Hello, Monkey Man.
Hi, Ginger.
How are you?
Good.
I'm fine. Thank you.
Well, Ginger, I have a problem.
Do you know someone who is too friendly?
Well, you see...
Do you know someone who talks too much?
Well, actually...
Everyone has a friend like that, telling funny stories... hahaha, makes you
laugh.
Yes, well...
And telling boring stories... boring.
Do you know anyone like that, Monkey Man?
Well, yes, I...
Someone who talks all the time and bothers you?
Huh? Do you? Huh? Do you?
Well, you do talk a lot, Ginger.
Me?
No, no, not me.
Seriously, she doesn't know how to take a hint.
Hey, me?
Hello.
(Chinese).
Calendar Phrase.
He's a friendly guy.
He's a friendly guy.
(Chinese).
I like Mike.
Yes. He's a friendly guy.
Mike always says hello.
Yes. He's a friendly guy.
Mike is always nice.
Yes. He's a friendly guy.
Everybody likes Mike.
Yes. He's a friendly guy.
Just like me.
No. Just like me.
Just like me.
Like me.
Friendly, like me.
He's a friendly guy.
He's a friendly guy.
(Chinese).
Let's Answer It!
Here is question number one.
What can Ken and Susie do about Trent?
What can Ken and Susie do about Trent?
Well, the answer is in Conversation C.
They can talk to Carol.
All right, question two.
Do people bother you? What do you do?
Do people bother you? What do you do?
Let's ask our friends.
Usually, I don't mind people at all.
I like to talk to people.
So when they come to see me, I always like to have a conversation.
But sometimes if I'm very busy and I can't talk to them, I will just tell them
right away:
I'm sorry.
I will have to talk to you later.
I am very busy right now.
But pretty soon I'll be able to talk to you.
Let's do it then.
Sometimes people annoy me a lot.
Like when someone makes too much noise when they eat, or if someone's playing
loud music when I'm trying to sleep, it drives me crazy!
But if I have to, I'd tell them politely to stop doing what they're doing.
I'd say: Could you please be a little more quiet?
I'm trying to sleep.
Or please don't chew so loudly.
Then it's OK.
Do people bother me?
Of course.
I think in any relationship, sometimes people will bother you.
What do I do?
Well, if it's a close friend or someone in my family, then I will talk to them.
I will try to understand why they did the things that they did.
And afterwards, we usually feel better.
Do people bother me?
Well, not usually.
I usually get along well with other people.
But sometimes when I'm traveling, I meet someone who I just don't understand.
They act in a way that does bother me.
When that happens, I try to be patient.
I try to ask them questions to understand why they're acting the way that they
are.
And I try to remember that I probably bother other people sometimes, too.
And they need to be patient with me.
Well, be sure to practice asking and answering these questions today.
And then join us again tomorrow right here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye.
(Music).
