All right, friends, we are going to play a fun game called: I Know It!
I Know It!
Do you know it?
Now I'm going to talk about one of our key words.
And when you think you know it, raise your hand and say, "I know it!" Ready? OK.
This is something that helps you tell time.
You can put it on a wall.
You can put it on a table.
And a watch has one.
I know it!
Kevin, I know it.
You are talking about a clock.
That's right, I am talking about a clock.
Now let's review our conversations right now.
Hey, Susie.
What time is it?
I don't know.
I'm not wearing a watch.
Where's your cellphone?
Look at that.
My cellphone is in my desk.
Why can't you look at your cellphone?
I can't find it.
Where could it be?
Well, my phone might be at Stella's Restaurant.
I was there last night.
Call the restaurant and ask.
I can't.
The restaurant isn't open.
It opens at 5 o'clock.
Oh. Well, there is a clock in Rob's office.
OK, I can check that.
Why do you need the time?
I have a lunch meeting with Carol at 11:45.
I can't be late.
I know. Carol is always on time.
What time is it now?
Is it after 11:00?
It's around 11:15, I think.
Go look at Rob's clock.
OK. Maybe I can see it from here.
Can you see the clock?
Yes, I can.
Uh-oh. It's five minutes after 12:00.
I'm late!
Hurry! Run to your meeting!
I'm going! Bye!
Uh, Ginger, what time is it?
I don't know.
Well, you have a watch.
What does it say?
It doesn't say anything.
You have to look at it.
Ginger, please look at your watch.
OK, I'm looking at my watch.
Now tell me, what time is it?
Uh, it's time to get a new watch.
This one is broken.
Ginger, forget the watch.
Do you have a smartphone?
Yes. All smart monkeys have smartphones.
Well, please find it and tell me what time it is, OK?
OK. Oops, I'm sitting on it.
Hmm, it's time to get a new smartphone, too, huh?
Yeah. And it's time to go.
Hello.
(Chinese).
Calendar Phrase.
I can't be late.
I can't be late.
(Chinese).
Hurry up. I can't be late.
I'm brushing my hair.
Please hurry. I can't be late.
I'm putting on my shoes.
Let's go. I can't be late.
I'm looking for my keys.
Oh, no! Now I'm late!
See? You can be late!
I can't be late.
I can't be late.
(Chinese).
Let's Answer It!
Here is question number one.
Where is Ken's cellphone?
Where is Ken's cellphone?
Hmm, the answer is in Conversation A.
It might be at Stella's Restaurant.
All right, question number two.
Do you wear a watch? Why or why not?
Do you wear a watch? Why or why not?
Let's ask some of our friends.
Yes, I do.
One reason that I wear a watch is because it was a gift from my uncle.
So I wear it and I think of him.
But I also think that wearing a watch is more convenient than taking your
cellphone out of your pocket to check the time.
You can just look at your hand, and the time is right there.
Also, I think wearing a watch looks nice.
Do I wear a watch?
No. I don't like to wear a watch.
I think watches are uncomfortable.
But because I love to travel, I do have to wear a watch sometimes.
It can be confusing when you travel.
Because when it's 8 o'clock in one part of the world, it might be 12 o'clock in
another part of the world.
So even though I don't really like to wear watches, they are very useful when I
travel.
Do I wear a watch?
Well, yes, as you can see, I do wear a watch.
One of the reasons is fashion.
I think watches are very fashionable, especially the ones with a large face.
Easy to see.
And another reason I like to wear watch is I'm the boss, and I must make sure
everyone is on time, including myself.
Everyone should have a watch.
I always wear a watch.
I love watches.
Watches come in all different kinds of colors, sizes and styles.
I can buy many watches, and wear them with lots of different things.
And I like to know what time it is all the time.
When I don't wear a watch, my arm feels empty and weird.
So I always wear a watch.
You should try them, too.
Well, those were some great answers.
Be sure to share your answer with someone today.
And then come back again tomorrow.
We will continue our lesson called What Time Is It here on...
Let's Talk in English.
Goodbye.
(Music).
