Hi, everyone.
And welcome to Let's Talk in English.
My name is Andrea.
And we're glad that you joined us for the last day of February.
Now today we are going to continue to learn about TECHNOLOGY.
And we have part two of our lesson about Sharing Pictures.
We are going to keep talking about ways that you can share pictures.
Now yesterday we already learned a lot, right, Kevin?
We sure did.
We learned that there are cameras inside some phones.
Hello, everybody. My name is Kevin.
Thanks for joining us today.
Now before we get started, we are going to go through our Let's Begin reading.
Now you can find this reading in our Let's Talk in English magazine.
All of our key words are in there.
So let's begin.
Many people save digital pictures on their computer.
They can also store them on a website.
To print their pictures, they can order them from that website.
People can share their photo albums online by sending a link to friends or
family members.
So let's start off with Conversation A.
(Music).
Welcome to the show.
So what do you do with all your digital photos?
Well, our guest has some advice about that.
Let's welcome her. Ms. Frannie Photo!
Welcome to our show, Ms. Frannie Photo.
Thanks. I'm happy to be here, Rob.
You're going to talk about storing pictures, is that right?
That's right!
Many people have a lot of digital photos.
And they aren't sure what to do with them.
Can they just save them on their computer?
Is that good enough?
It's a good start!
People can also save their photos online.
Ms. Frannie Photo is the guest on Let's Talk today.
And what is the topic of the show, Kevin?
Well, the topic of the show is storing pictures online.
That's right, storing pictures or storing photos.
Well, let's talk about our first key word here.
It's the verb: store.
Now when you store photos somewhere, that means you keep them somewhere so you
can look at them again,
or so you know where they are when you want to use them.
When you store something away, you plan on putting it there for a little while,
but you do want to look at them again sooner or later.
So you can store some of your old clothes, and bring them back if you want to
wear them again.
Right. So you can store photos on your computer.
Or you can store photos that you print in a special book.
And like Kevin said, you can store other things.
I store clothes that I'm not wearing in a box.
Or maybe you store some things in your pockets.
Well, let's take a look at our next key word here.
It is also a verb.
It's the verb "save." Now when you save photos on your computer, that means you
keep them there.
So when you save photos, it's kind of like you are storing them.
That's right.
You can save other things on your computer.
You can save your files.
You can save your music.
You can save your homework.
Exactly. And it's always a good idea to save anything that you are working on.
You don't want to lose what you're working on.
And if you save it, it should still be there.
Well, at the beginning of our conversation, Rob welcomes Ms. Frannie Photo to
the show.
Frannie says, "I'm happy to be here." Now when someone welcomes you to a place,
it's nice to say: I'm happy to be here.
When we start our show, we say, "Welcome to Let's Talk in English." So you can
say, "Hey, I'm happy to be here." Kevin, I am glad you're here.
Welcome to our show.
Well, thank you.
I am happy to be here.
OK. Well, I am happy that we have more to learn together.
So let's go to Conversation B.
Tell us about that.
There are many websites that allow you to store photos for free.
So you can upload all your photos to one of those websites?
Yes. But check if there is a limit.
If you upload more than the limit, you might need to pay.
Why do websites let you store photos for free?
They hope you'll order pictures from them.
When they print your pictures, they make money.
I see.
In Conversation B, we can learn that we can upload all our pictures onto a
website.
When we say "upload," we mean give computer files somewhere.
But we have to be careful and check something.
Isn't that right, Andrea?
That's right, because some websites have limits.
Now when we say "limit," we mean that something will stop at one point.
There is a limit to how much you can run.
There is a limit to how much, well, I can eat.
Some stores will have a limit to how many on-sale items you can buy.
Andrea, why do these websites let you store your photos for free?
Well, Fran says they hope you'll order pictures from them.
Then they make money when they print the pictures for you.
Hey, there is a key word there.
And that is "to print." Now when you print something, you use a machine to put
words or pictures onto a piece of paper.
For example, Jackson went to the store to print some pictures.
Or you can say: Sherry asked me to help her print her homework.
So as Kevin said, you can print photos or print pictures.
You can print things that you write.
As students, some of you probably have to print many things for your teachers.
And we have to print our Let's Talk in English magazines, which I know you all
love.
Now let's move on to Conversation C.
When you create an online photo album, decide who you want to share it with.
Do you have to share it?
No. But many people want to share their photos with friends or family members.
So how do you share the album?
You email a link to them.
Just check your settings to be sure that not everyone can see your album.
Good idea.
Thanks for the advice!
Conversation C starts by talking about online photo albums.
Frannie says, "When you create an online photo album, decide who you want to
share it with." Well, I hope you decide to look at this key word with us.
It is the word "album." Now you can create an online album.
This is a place where you store all of your photos.
You can put many photos together in one album.
That's right.
But there are also albums you can actually touch.
Those are the albums that maybe your mother and your father are used to.
My mom likes to still use the albums that... that are like books.
You put real photos in them.
Right. So you print your pictures, and then you put them in an album.
Hey, Andrea, I just made an online photo album.
Would you like to look at it?
I can send you a link.
Oh yes, Kevin, please send me the link.
I always like when people share albums with me.
And you just used a key word that we want to talk about.
It is "link." Now someone can email you a link.
Or you can find different links online.
When you click on a link, it will take you to a website.
One thing that I like to do is click on lots of links.
I'm looking at one website, and they link me to another.
And I think that's interesting, and so I want to click some more.
And I find myself spending a lot of time on the Internet clicking links.
Well, if you visit our Studio Classroom website, www.StudioClassroom.com, you'll
find many links that can help you use and practice English.
Now Frannie Photo gave us a lot of good advice.
So at the end of our conversation, Rob says, "Thanks for the advice!" Now it's
always nice to say "thank you" to someone.
And it's nice to say "thank you" for something specific.
Thank you for the advice.
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for learning with us.
And thank you for practicing your key words with us because we are going to do
that right now.
The first one is: store.
store.
Kyle stores his photos on his computer and this website.
save.
save.
Save your work often on your computer.
print.
print.
We can print these pictures on our printer.
album.

Mom printed her pictures and put them in an album.

Great job.
We'll be rightback.
