Well, hey, everybody.
Welcome to the Saturday show of Let's Talk in English.
I'm glad you made it here today.
My name is Gabe.
Now today is a review day.
Do you remember what we talked about this week?
Well, you learned how to talk about Christmas gifts for some special kids.
Do you like to receive gifts?
Well, how about this?
Do you like to give gifts?
Are you a generous person?
Some of our friends here at LTE TV gave some gifts to some special kids this
week.
You also learned how to talk about different kinds of people.
Now, can you describe your friends and family in English?
Who is smart?
Who is hard-working?
Who is funny?
Who is curious?
Who is too curious?
Who is talkative?
Well, me, I know, I'm... I'm pretty talkative.
Well friends, I'm going to stop talking right now.
But pay attention as we review this week's lessons because Ginger and I will
have some questions just for you.
Do you wrap presents often, Amber?
You're fast!
I worked at a department store one summer.
I wrapped a lot of gifts for people!
So you have lots of practice.
And now we're wrapping these presents for poor children.
I know.
We can help others.
I'm happy!
Me, too!
Many parents can't buy Christmas gifts for their kids.
Tomorrow is Christmas Day.
The children can open these presents tomorrow!
I know!
Then they can play with their new toys!
Think of their joy!
I think about the children's smiles on Christmas morning.
Then I feel joy!
Me, too.
We're giving.
And that's better than receiving.
True. That's an important part of Christmas!
Right!
This doll is for Molly P.
Remind me again.
How did the TV station get the children's names?
We got a list of children's names from a church.
Oh, that's right!
Yes. The list has the children's ages, too.
It also has each child's Christmas wish.
So we can give the perfect gift to each child!
Hi, Carol. I'm here to help!
Great! Amber had to go.
We just need to wrap a few more gifts.
Good.
We can deliver the children's gifts before 5:00!
I was nervous about the deadline.
We had a lot of gifts to wrap in a short time!
And December is always a busy month at work.
But we're not too busy to help others.
That's good!
Did everyone at the TV station buy a gift?
Yes, and some people bought gifts for more than one child!
How generous!
That's wonderful.
Yes. We bought dolls, games, basketballs and more.
Everyone had fun!
I did!
I bought a stuffed dog for a boy named Aidan!
Fun!
My gift is for a girl named Emma.
I bought a doll with a beautiful dress.
Oh, I almost forgot.
Rob will help us deliver the gifts later.
Good. Then we can finish the job faster.
Yes. I'm going to church tonight and I don't want to be late!
I'm going to church, too.
I always go on Christmas Eve!
Me, too.
I love to hear the Christmas story and sing Christmas songs.
Christmas is such a joyful time of year!
Hi, Rob! What are you doing?
I'm looking at the TV station's website.
The poll is online now!
Oh! That's right.
The station does a poll every year.
Right. We ask our viewers about our programs.
Do our viewers like our programs?
Do they like us?
Do they say, "Rob is so handsome"?
Let's look at their answers!
What is the first question on this year's poll?
"What's your favorite program on LTE TV? Why?".
I can answer that.
Let's Talk!
Because you're very hard-working, Rob!
You're so kind.
But this poll is for our viewers.
I know. So what do people think?
Let me see.
Here's a very nice answer.
It's about you!
A nice answer about me!
What is it?
"Susie reports the news very well.
She's very funny, too!".
How kind.
Are there any answers about you, Rob?
Yes!
"Rob is very smart.
I learn a lot from him.
I enjoy his program.".
People really enjoy our work.
I know! I feel good!
Susie, you look sad.
What's wrong?
I was looking at our poll again.
Be happy, Ken. You aren't on TV!
What do you mean?
Our viewers said great things!
They said great things yesterday.
There are more comments today.
And some of the comments aren't nice?
Some of them are rude!
I'm sorry, Susie.
But don't worry about those comments.
But I read them.
And now I can't forget them.
Were the rude comments about you?
Yes, some of them.
One reviewer said, "Susie is boring." Another said, "Susie thinks she's clever,
but she's not.".
That is rude.
Yes. And there were comments about Rob and Lily, too.
Someone said, "Lily is very beautiful, but she's a little stupid.".
That's so mean!
And it isn't true!
Do you want to know one of the comments about Rob?
Yes! Now I'm curious.
One person said, "He's too talkative.".
He's a talk show host!
I know!
Listen, Susie.
Some people say mean things for no reason.
I know.
And they don't really know much about us.
Maybe they only watched a program once.
Or never even watched one!
You are all wonderful people.
Thanks, Ken.
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Are you a true friend?
Well, our guest today is here to talk all about what it means to be a true
friend.
Let's welcome her.
Welcome to the show, Miss Friendly!
Thanks, Rob!
You wrote a book called True Friends.
Tell us about it.
In True Friends, I talk about 25 qualities of a true friend.
Tell me one.
A true friend is always honest.
I've had friends who were dishonest before.
They weren't really my friends.
Right. You need to be able to trust your friends.
True friends are always honest with you.
What's another quality of a true friend?
True friends are considerate.
They think about what you want, need or like.
They think about you instead of themselves.
They aren't selfish.
That's right.
It's important for a friend to be humble, too.
If you're not humble, it's easy to become too proud.
Can you tell us more qualities?
Not today, Rob.
Your viewers will have to buy my book!
Do you have many true friends?
A true friend is someone you can trust, so he is never dishonest.
Being considerate is another quality of a true friend.
He will always think about you and your feelings first.
He won't be selfish.
True friends are also humble, not proud.
They don't think they are more important than you.
Well, hello, friends.
I am here with Ginger.
And I'm here with uh... What's your name?
Ginger, I'm your friend Gabe.
You're here with Gabe.
Hahaha. That's right.
And I'm here with Ginger.
Ah, Ginger. Yes.
Well friends, Ginger and... Gabe... that's me.
We have some questions just for you.
I hope you were listening to this week's lesson review.
Number one.
What does Carol say is better than receiving?
Ooh! Haha, I know!
What does Carol say is better than receiving?
Mmhm.
It's giving.
Giving is better than receiving.
That's right, Ginger.
Giving is better than receiving.
So I will give you this banana...
Thank you!
... after you give us question number two.
Oh. Well uh, OK.
What did Rob say this week?
OK, what did Rob say this week?
A. If you're not humble, it's easy to become loud.
Oh.
Or B. If you're not humble, it's easy to become proud.
OK.
Or C. If you are not single, it's easy to become a crowd.
Yeah, what is the correct answer?
Ginger, do you know?
Oh, uh....
Well, is it B?
It is B.
If you're not humble, it's easy to become proud.
B for banana.
Ginger, you get a banana.
Thank you.
I got that right.
I'm so proud!
You'd better stay humble, Ginger.
Right now, friends, it's time for us to take abreak.
