Let's Talk in English.
Hi, everyone, and welcome to LTE TV.
We're very glad you could join us today because you are our true friends.
My name is Gabe.
And my name is Andrea.
Yes, you are our true friends.
You join us here at the studio every day, you work hard, you study, and you use
what you learned.
Well, the title of our lesson today is: True Friends.
And when you have true friends, you have a very special gift.
True friends are not dishonest.
They trust each other.
True friends are considerate.
They're not selfish.
Well, I just used some of our key words.
And you'll see them in today's lesson.
I hope you enjoy it.
Let's begin.
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Are you a true friend?
Well, our guest today is here to talk all about what it means to be a true
friend.
Let's welcome her.
Welcome to the show, Miss Friendly!
Thanks, Rob!
You wrote a book called True Friends.
Tell us about it.
In True Friends, I talk about 25 qualities of a true friend.
Tell me one.
A true friend is always honest.
I've had friends who were dishonest before.
They weren't really my friends.
Right. You need to be able to trust your friends.
True friends are always honest with you.
Well, Miss Friendly wrote a book.
The name of her book is True Friends.
And she tells us about it.
Rob asks her to.
He says, "Tell us about it." Now when you want to know about something, use this
phrase.
Tell us about it.
Well, you went on a vacation recently, Andrea.
Tell us about it.
I had a great vacation.
Good.
You went out last night.
Yeah.
You saw that movie.
Tell us about it.
Well, yeah. I saw that movie.
It was kind of boring.
Oh.
Yeah, sorry.
OK.
Well, but I told you about it.
Well, thank you for being honest.
Yeah.
Let's look at our key word here.
It is not "honest." It is "dishonest." Now when you are honest, you tell the
truth.
But when you are dishonest, you do not tell the truth.
You are not honest.
These three letters, "D-I-S," mean not.
Dishonest - not honest.
So it's important to be honest.
Don't be dishonest with people.
You want people to trust you.
"Trust" is our next key word.
When you trust somebody, that means you believe what they say, and you know that
they want the best for you.
That's right.
You want to trust your friends.
And you want your friends to trust you.
True friends are always honest with you, so you can always trust them.
Well, let's continue to learn from Miss Friendly in Conversation B.
What's another quality of a true friend?
True friends are considerate.
They think about what you want, need or like.
They think about you instead of themselves.
They aren't selfish.
That's right.
It's important for a friend to be humble, too.
If you're not humble, it's easy to become too proud.
Can you tell us more qualities?
Not today, Rob.
Your viewers will have to buy my book!
Well, don't be selfish.
Share your snack with your brother as we talk about this key word.
selfish.
If you are selfish, that means you usually just think about yourself.
You do things only for yourself.
You don't think about what's best for other people.
Right. You think about yourself.
You are selfish.
Well, a true friend is not selfish.
True friends are considerate.
You want to be considerate.
You want to care about others.
Are you a considerate person?
Well, "considerate" is one of our key words.
It's kind of a big word.
Say it with me.
considerate.
It's important to be considerate of other people.
You want to be considerate of how they feel.
That means you think about them.
You think about what they will like and what is best for them.
You are a considerate person.
So if you are considerate, then you are not selfish.
Well, all of these words can be used to talk about qualities that people have.
And we have a couple more qualities to look at.
Some qualities.
Well, one of them is humble.
Are you a humble person?
Well, then it's no problem for you to keep learning every day.
Learn this key word with me.
Say it.
humble.
Excellent.
If you are humble, then maybe you do many things well, but you never talk about
yourself.
You never want other people to think that you're the best person.
Right. When you're humble, you always think that other people are better than
yourself.
You're not the best person.
You know, it's beautiful to see a person who is humble and hard-working and does
their best at all things.
Like Andrea.
Andrea, I... I'm being seriously.
You are a very humble person.
And I enjoy working with you.
Oh, Gabe, you're so kind!
I also appreciate that you are not proud.
"Proud" is another key word.
Now when someone is proud, they think that they are very good, that they do
everything the best, that everything about them is very good.
And if you are not humble, it's easy to become proud.
So let's all try to stay humble, friends.
Right now it's time for us to continue with our Read It paragraph.
Do you have many true friends?
A true friend is someone you can trust, so he is never dishonest.
Being considerate is another quality of a true friend.
He will always think about you and your feelings first.
He won't be selfish.
True friends are also humble, not proud.
They don't think they are more important than you.
A friend loves at all times.
A friend helps at all times.
A friend trusts at all times.
A good friend lasts a lifetime.
Well, yes, we have learned a lot about true friends.
So let's review some of the things we learned together.
A true friend is honest, not dishonest.
A true friend is humble, not proud.
A true friend is considerate, not rude.
A true friend is loving, not selfish.
You know, these are good things to remember about a true friend.
And they're also good to remember so you can be a true friend.
It's not always easy to be loving.
Sometimes we're all a little selfish, aren't we, Gabe?
Well... Well yes, I agree.
Sometimes we are a little selfish.
It's important to try to remember to remain humble.
Yes, and be the best friend you can be.
Now let's go and learn from Ginger and the Monkey Man.
They're great!
Hello, true friend.
What did you call me, Ginger?
I called you a true friend.
Oh. And... and what is a true friend?
