Oh hey, everybody.
Welcome to the Saturday show of Let's Talk in English.
My name is Gabe.
And I'm very glad that you could join us here today at LTE TV.
It is a review day.
Are you ready to review? Good.
You learned how to talk about being too busy this week.
Do you have a lot of work to do?
Are you too busy to help other people?
Well, sometimes we have projects that can make us pretty busy.
It is important to take breaks.
Now, you also learned how to talk about problems with our lesson.
What's the matter?
Sometimes we get headaches or stomachaches or we burn ourselves.
We experience pain in different ways.
Well, what's the matter with you?
I hope nothing is the matter.
I hope you are OK because right now we're going to review our lessons from this
week.
And well, Ginger will be here soon.
We have some questions just for you.
So pay attention.
Here we go.
Hi, Ken.
Hi, Susie.
What time is the meeting this afternoon?
Do you remember?
The meeting is at 1:30.
Oh, really?
The meeting is in five minutes.
Let's go.
I'm not going.
You aren't going to the meeting?
No. I'm really busy.
But the meeting is for everyone.
I know. But I have too much work.
What work do you have?
I just finished some interviews.
I need to write about them.
You can do that after the meeting.
I don't have enough time.
I have lots of other work.
What else?
I need to look for information on the Internet.
Why is that work?
So I can prepare for my next interview!
Susie, meetings are fun.
Everyone gets together and shares their ideas.
I also need to answer emails and call people back.
You can do those things after the meeting.
No. I can't go to the meeting.
I'm too busy!
"Hello? Oh, hi, Carol.
That's right.
Yes, I'm coming.
OK. Bye." Ken, I'm going to the meeting.
Great! Let's go.
Hi, Susie.
Hello, Lily.
You weren't at yesterday's meeting.
Do you want to borrow my notes?
You took notes?
Great! Thanks.
Sorry I missed the meeting.
I almost missed it, too.
Were you out of the office?
No. I just had too much work to do.
I felt the same way!
Hey, it's 3:00.
Do you want to get something to drink?
I would love to, but I have too much work to do.
Can't you take a quick break?
I really can't.
You'll be able to finish more work after a break.
That happened to me after the meeting.
No. I can finish more work if I keep working.
But your mind is tired.
If you take a break, your mind gets a break, too.
I know that, Susie.
But you don't understand.
What don't I understand?
Rob asked me to finish a project for a program next week.
When does he need it?
He needs it by 4:00 on December 19th.
That's today!
Today is the 18th.
Oh. Then I do have time to take a break!
Great! Let's go.
Hi, Amber.
Hi, Lily.
Are you OK?
No. I don't feel good.
What's the matter?
I have a headache.
I'm sorry.
Do you often get headaches?
No, I don't.
Can you go home?
No. I have a meeting with Carol in 30 minutes.
And I have other work.
But your head hurts.
You can't do your work well.
I know.
My head hurts so much!
I can't even think!
What do you usually do for a headache?
I usually take some medicine.
Did you already take some?
No. I don't have any medicine at the office.
I don't have any here, either.
Maybe someone else has some.
I can just rest here for a few minutes.
You can lie down in Carol's office!
She has a sofa there.
I can't lie down in Carol's office.
She's my boss!
And she is a very nice boss.
Let's go ask Carol.
Then I can ask other people about the medicine.
Thanks, Lily.
Hey, Ken, do you want to finish my French fries?
I can't eat any more.
Uh, no thanks.
What? You never say "no" to food.
I know.
I love food. But not today.
Is something wrong with you?
Yes. My stomach hurts.
Oh. Did you eat too much junk food?
No. I didn't eat any junk food today.
Something is wrong with you.
You must be sick.
I don't feel well.
Do you have the flu?
I don't think so.
When I have the flu, my whole body hurts.
But only your stomach hurts now?
Right. I came here to get some ginger ale.
Sometimes that helps my stomach feel better.
Good idea. That helps me, too.
What else do you do when you have a stomachache?
I lie down.
Rest always helps me feel better.
Hey, you could lie down in Carol's office.
No, I can't!
She's my boss.
I know, but she let me lie down on her sofa yesterday.
What was wrong with you?
I had a headache.
Maybe I'll ask her after I drink my ginger ale.
Thanks, Amber.
What's the matter, Rob?
I just burned my hand.
How did you burn it?
I was trying to put away an iron.
I didn't know it was still hot!
Burns really hurt.
Let me see your hand.
It's just a minor burn, but we should still treat it.
Oh, I'll be OK.
First, put your hand in some cool water.
I'll be right back.
Do you have any butter?
No. I have a first-aid kit.
I'm going to put a bandage on your burn.
My friend puts butter on her burns.
Butter keeps the heat inside.
Cool water cools the burn, which will help the pain.
Then shouldn't I put ice on it?
Wouldn't that be better?
No, ice can cool your skin too much and damage it.
Do you want some pain medicine?
No, I'm fine.
Thanks, Susie.
If you have a first-aid kit, you can treat minor problems.
People touch hot things like stoves or irons and burn themselves.
Here's how to treat a burn:
1. Put cool water on the burn.
This cools the burn and helps the pain.
Don't use ice!
It can cool the skin too much and damage it.
2. Put a bandage on the burn to protect the skin.
3. Take pain medicine if the burn hurts a lot.
Well friends, I am here with Ginger and...
And I am here with Gabe.
Yes.
And we, of course, have some questions just for you.
I hope you were paying attention.
Here's question number one.
Who did a project for Rob this week?
Who did a project for Rob this week?
Yeah.
Well, uh, it was a lady.
It was a lady, Ginger. Yes.
A lady named Lily.
That's right, a lady named Lily.
Yes, our friend Lily did a project for Rob.
Now do you have another question for us?
Yes, I do.
Who had a stomachache this week?
Who had a stomachache this week?
Well, we will give you three choices, friends.
Was it A, Rob?
Was it B, Amber?
Or was it C, Ken?
Who had a stomachache this week?
Uh, it was... Ken.
Wait. Ginger, why are you laughing?
That's not funny.
A stomachache hurts.
Yeah, that's true.
I'm just happy it wasn't me.
Oh, yeah, I'm happy it wasn't you, too.
Well friends, you're doing a great job.
Right now why don't we take a littlebreak.
