Let's Talk in English.
Hi, everyone, and welcome to our show.
My name is Andrea.
And my name is Gabe.
And today I'm too busy!
So I'm going to go and get some work done.
Uh, Gabe, excuse me.
No, no, no... You are not too busy to teach.
This is your job.
Well, of course! I'm... I'm not too busy to teach.
But uh, well, today we do have an important lesson called I'm Too Busy.
Are you too busy to watch Let's Talk in English?
I hope not.
This is very important.
You need to learn some of the things we will teach you today.
We have many good words to learn.
And of course, we have lots of other things to talk about.
Are you too busy?
Well, no.
Open up your magazine, and let's get started in Conversation A.
Hi, Ken.
Hi, Susie.
What time is the meeting this afternoon?
Do you remember?
The meeting is at 1:30.
Oh, really?
The meeting is in five minutes.
Let's go.
I'm not going.
You aren't going to the meeting?
No. I'm really busy.
But the meeting is for everyone.
I know.
But I have too much work.
Ken is telling Susie to go to the meeting, but Susie doesn't want to go this
afternoon.
Well friends, Ken says the meeting is for everyone.
It's for everyone.
Does that mean everyone in the world?
No. This means everyone at LTE TV.
The meeting is for everyone.
But what did Susie say, Andrea, after Ken said the meeting is for everyone?
Well, she says, "I know." She knows the meeting is for everyone.
But she has too much work.
Too much work.
Too much work.
Friends, do you have too much work?
Well, thank you for using some time today, taking some time to learn with us.
Now this is a very important word - work.
If you have work, that means you have a job to do.
So Susie has too much work; she has too many things she needs to do for her job.
I think we all might feel like we have too much work sometimes.
You might say: I had too much work.
I can't go to the party.
Or you might what more work and ask someone: Can I help you with your work?
I don't have a lot of work right now.
I have lots of work to do.
Or I need to get some work done, so I can't go to the meeting.
Well, friends, our next key word is meeting.
Susie can't go to the meeting.
That means she can't go and meet with other people about something.
So a meeting is when people come together to talk or discuss something.
Right.
And if you work at a place, you probably have many different kinds of meetings.
At some meetings, maybe your boss is sharing information with you.
At some meetings, you might need to tell other people about your ideas.
That is my favorite kind of meeting, a meeting where you can share ideas with
the people you work with.
Well, what kinds of meetings do you go to?
Talk about that in English.
Right now it's time for us to continue with Conversation B.
What work do you have?
I just finished some interviews.
I need to write about them.
You can do that after the meeting.
I don't have enough time.
I have lots of other work.
What else?
I need to look for information on the Internet.
Why is that work?
So I can prepare for my next interview!
Susie needs to look for information on the Internet.
That's what she tells Ken.
But Ken has a question.
He says, "Why is that work?" Why is looking for information on the Internet
work?
Well, Susie says so she can prepare for her next interview!
Now Gabe what kind of things does she need to prepare?
Well, she needs to get some things ready.
She needs to look for some information on the Internet.
So she is going to prepare for an interview.
Now sometimes your work is looking for information about something.
That is work, too.
It takes time.
It's not always easy, it's work.
Yeah. So work includes many different kinds of things that you do.
Well, Susie says that she doesn't have enough time.
Well, we do have enough time to talk about this key word.
It is "enough." Now when you say I don't have enough time, that means you need
more time.
There's not enough time to do something.
Well, you can use this word to talk about other things.
You could say: I don't have enough money to eat at that expensive restaurant.
Or I don't have enough energy to go out with you this afternoon.
I'm too tired.
I don't have enough money.
I don't have enough energy.
I don't have enough food for lunch.
I didn't bring enough food for lunch.
I'm still hungry.
I need to buy more food.
Well, friends, we do have enough time to talk about our next key word.
It is "Internet." Susie is looking for information on the Internet.
Now if you don't have enough information on something, the Internet is a good
place to look.
The Internet is a place that has lots of information.
You usually use a computer or a cellphone to go on the Internet.
And if you can't get on the Internet at work for some reason, you might say the
Internet is down.
The Internet is down.
Well, friends, when you are talking about the Internet, remember, you always use
the word "the," the Internet.
The Internet.
An Internet is always a word that we spell with a big letter.
The "I" is always big - the Internet.
Well, let's continue now with Conversation C.
(Music).
Susie, meetings are fun.
Everyone gets together and shares their ideas.
I also need to answer emails and call people back.
You can do those things after the meeting.
No. I can't go to the meeting.
I'm too busy!
"Hello? Oh, hi, Carol.
That's right.
Yes, I was coming OK. Bye.".
Ken, I'm going to the meeting.
Great! Let's go.
(Music).
Wait. Wait. Wait a minute.
I thought that Susie was not going to go to the meeting.
In Conversation A, she does not want to go.
In Conversation B, she won't go.
What happened in Conversation C?
Why will she go to the meeting?
Well, Susie got a phone call.
Carol called her.
Now remember, Carol is Susie's boss.
And I know that it's important to listen to what your boss says, so.
What do you think Carol said on the phone?
Well, Carol probably said: Susie, this meeting is very important.
We want to hear your ideas.
We want to hear you share some ideas.
Well, friends, we have a key word to share with you.
It is "share." If you share your ideas with somebody, that means you are talking
about them.
They were in your head, but now they came out of your mouth.
You are sharing your ideas.
Yes. At a meeting, your boss might ask you to share ideas.
Please share your ideas with everyone.
Or if somebody would like some tips on something, they might say: Can you please
share some tips?
And then you share things that you know that can help them.
I like it when my friends share their snacks or their food with me.
So there are many things that you can share.
Right now it's time for us to go and learn something with Ginger and the Monkey
Man.
Let's see what they have to share with us.
Hey, Monkey Man.
Mmhm.
What are you doing here?
I'm talking to you.
I know. But you have a meeting now.
Oh. I'm not going to the meeting.
I'm too busy.
You're not busy.
You're talking to me.
Right! I'm busy.
I'm working.
You're not working.
You're talking.
Well, yes. Talking with you is my job.
What?
Yeah. We talk about the show.
That's what I do.
So that's why we talk?
Yes. I'm talking and I'm working.
Well, I'm not working.
So I'm not talking.
Ginger!
Oh, maybe... maybe I'll go to the meeting then.
Hello, friends.
Thank you for joining our meeting, the meeting where we review the key words.
The first one is: meeting.
meeting.
The meeting is in Paul's office in 10 minutes.

I can finish my work. Then I can play.

Don't buy more clothes.
There isn't enough room in your closet.

Please share some things.

Right now it's time for us to take abreak.
