Hey, everyone, and welcome to the Saturday show of Let's Talk in English right
here at LTE TV.
My name is Gabe.
Now what did we learn about this week?
You learned how to talk about a job interview in English.
Are you going in for an interview anytime soon?
Well, remember to be friendly.
Say true things about yourself.
Don't lie.
You also learned about Susie's home.
Now where do you keep things in your home?
Do you ever lose things like Susie did?
Maybe you have too much stuff.
It's not easy to stay neat.
Maybe you should organize your home, go through your house.
And if you don't use something, give it away.
Well, pay attention.
Listen carefully because Ginger will be here soon.
And we will have some questions just for you.
Let's review this week's lessons.
"Sure, I can come for an interview.
...Friday at 10:00 is fine with me.
...Thanks! Bye!".
Amber, why do you have an interview on Friday?
I have a job interview.
What? You might leave the LTE TV station?
I might.
Did you tell anyone about this other job?
No. I'm waiting until after the interview.
I might not get the job.
So what is the job?
A secretary at a big company.
Why do you want that job?
I am a good secretary.
I can answer the phone.
I can help my boss.
You do those things here.
I know.
We need you here.
Thanks, Ken.
And why do you want to work for a big company?
I like the company.
They do good things.
I can learn many new things there.
What about the other workers there?
Do you know any of them?
No. but I'm friendly.
I can meet new people!
I don't understand.
Why are you looking for a new job?
The job is in River City.
I have a lot of family there.
You might move?!
Amber, I just heard your news from Ken.
What? I told him not to tell anyone!
I know.
He was so surprised about your news.
He forgot about not telling.
Oh, Ken.
So your interview is on Friday?
Yes. What if I don't give the right answers when they interview me?
The right answers?
Just be honest.
Give them true answers.
Well, I'm not going to lie.
But what if they don't like my answers?
What if they don't like me?
They'll like you.
Amber, don't worry.
Be confident.
You're right.
I have to be confident.
Do you want me to help you practice for the interview?
Sure, that would be great!
OK.
Amber, why are you interested in this position?
I like to work with people, and I can keep track of a lot of things.
Tell me more about your strengths.
I'm friendly and I'm a hard worker.
I love to learn new things.
That's great.
And your weaknesses?
Well, sometimes I'm too helpful and that bothers some people.
I see.
And I sometimes forget things.
But I always correct my mistakes as soon as possible.
Great! We'd love to hire you!
I hope they say that!
Hi, Susie. You're late today.
I know. I'm sorry.
I could not find something at home.
What was that?
My left shoe!
Where do you keep your shoes?
I keep them under my bed.
Do you keep all your shoes there?
Yes. I don't own a lot of shoes.
I keep my shoes by my front door.
I don't wear them in the house.
I don't, either.
But I don't like a pile of shoes beside the door.
Mine aren't in a pile.
They are in a line.
Mine would be in a pile.
I'm a little messy!
So you don't always put things away.
That's right.
Do you lose a lot of things?
Well, I don't lose them.
They are in my apartment.
I just can't find them!
Take my friend's advice.
"A place for everything, and everything in its place.".
That is good advice.
There's just one problem.
What's that?
I don't have enough places for everything.
So I just make piles!
Carol, can I ask you a question?
Sure, Susie. What?
Is your house neat?
Yes, most of it.
How do you keep it neat?
Well, I have a place for everything.
And I put things away.
I want to do that.
But I have too many things.
Then give some of your things away.
But they are good things!
If it's good stuff, other people can use it.
Give it to a thrift store.
I could do that.
You'll have more room in your closets and your drawers.
You can keep them neat.
They're full of stuff now, so they're not neat.
When did you last use most of that stuff?
Uh, a year ago?
Then give it away.
You don't need it.
As soon as I give something away, I need it.
If you think like that, you'll never give anything away!
I know. I can't shut my closet doors now.
So take things to the thrift store!
Just be careful of one thing.
What's that?
When you go to the thrift store, just give away your stuff.
Don't buy more stuff!
That won't be easy.
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
On today's show, you'll learn how to organize your home!
Let's welcome Nancy Neat.
Thank you, Rob.
I'm glad to be here.
So tell us, Nancy, how can we keep our closets or wardrobes neat?
My advice is, "If you haven't worn it in a year, give it away.".
Really? What if the clothes still fit?
If you don't wear them, why keep them?
That's a good thought.
Look through your desk or dresser drawers, too.
If you don't use something, give it away.
I should do that.
And don't forget your shelves!
Take the stuff off them and go through it.
I have books on my shelves that I won't read.
Give them away!
Then I'll have room for new books!
Just be sure they're ones you will read!
Do you have too much stuff?
You should give some of it away and organize your house!
Look through your closet or wardrobe.
Give away clothes that don't fit.
And if you don't wear it, don't keep it.
Look through your dresser drawers and do the same thing.
Take everything off your shelves.
Then give away things you don't like or don't use.
Giving away stuff will make you feel better!
Oh hey, everybody.
Well, I am here with Ginger and...
And I am here with Gabe.
Yes, you are.
And we have some questions just for you.
Were you paying attention and listening carefully?
Good.
Here's question number one.
Who has a job interview for the position of secretary at a big company?
Uh... Oh, let's see.
So the question is: Who has a job interview for the position of secretary at a
big company?
Uh... Uh... Amber does.
That's right, Ginger.
Amber does.
Very good job.
Now do you have a question for us?
Uh, yes.
Rob interviewed Nancy Neat on Let's Talk yesterday.
What was her advice?
Hmm, Rob interviewed Nancy Neat on Let's Talk yesterday.
What was her advice?
Well, we have some choices for you.
A. If you haven't worn it in a year, buy another one.
B. If you haven't worn it in a year, give it away.
Or C. If you haven't worn it in a year, make Ginger wear it.
Hey!
I like that answer.
That's not the right answer.
Well, what could the correct answer be, Ginger?
The correct answer is B.
Yeah, if you haven't worn it in a year, give it away.
Very nice job.
Friends, you did a good job, too.
Right now it's time for us to take a break.
