I like iced coffee in the summer.

There's a little cafe near my house.
They sell the best smoothies.
I love fruit smoothies.
I do, too!
But I really like another kind of smoothie.

Yes. Sometimes I work faster here than in my office!

What are you drinking?
My second glass of iced tea.
And I already drank two cups of hot tea!
What kind of tea is it?
It's black tea.
That is my favorite kind of tea.
It has more caffeine than other teas.
I know. It helps me think faster!

Are you having a drink or some food?
I just want a drink right now.
I'm really thirsty.
What drink do you want?
You can take my menu.

I like tomato juice better.

I'm watching a soccer game.
It's exciting!
What? No. Soccer is boring.
Soccer is not boring!
The players just run and kick a ball.
The players do run a lot.
But then someone scores a goal!
That's exciting!
But the team only gets one point.
The game might end 1-0.
That's boring.
Do you watch many soccer games?
No. I like other sports.
I don't watch soccer.
Why not?
Soccer is boring!
And I don't really understand it.
What don't you understand?
Well, why can't you use your hands in soccer?
It's one of the rules.
You kick the ball with your feet.
Or you hit it with other parts of your body.
But the goalie can use his hands.
Why can't everyone use their hands?
It's just the rule!
Maybe I can watch more soccer.
Then I can understand it.
We can watch soccer together!

Soccer may not be exciting.

Football players have more talent than soccer players.

They have to be strong, fast and smart.

Yes, they have to remember a lot of plays.
Soccer players are fast, too.
And they get a lot of exercise, so they're in excellent shape!
So are football players.
A soccer team works together to score goals.
Every player is important.
Every player is important on a football team, too.
Soccer players have a lot more skill than football players.
I don't think so.
Soccer players can kick the ball in any direction.
Can you do that?
No, especially not inside!
Ken, we just don't agree on the best sport.
I agree.
So, Ms. Runner, I understand you are training for a big race.

I'm really excited about running a marathon next week.
You do know that a marathon is over 42 kilometers, don't you?
Yes! It's a long distance, but I've run two marathons before.
Great!
So why do you enjoy running so much?
Running makes me feel good... especially when I finish!
How long have you trained for this marathon?
About four months.
I've run longer and longer distances each week.
Do you think you'll win the race?
No. But I might be the winner of my age group.
I see.
Even if I don't win, I always try to beat my best time.

There are races every week in different cities around the world.
Runners train for many months before a race.
They can train with others or they can train by themselves.
They might win the race or be a winner in their age group.
Or they can just try to beat their own best time.
