Lights.
Camera.
Let's Talk in English.
Hey, everyone and welcome to LTE TV.
My name is Gabe.
And my name is Andrea.
Thank you for joining us again today.
The title of our lesson is: What Are You Drinking?
What Are You Drinking?
Now are you drinking something right now as you are watching or listening to our
show?
Are you thirsty?
Maybe you are drinking a coffee or a tea or maybe some milk.
What Are You Drinking?
Now I just used our key words.
You'll see them again in today's lesson.
And then you'll be ready to use them every day.
So please open your magazine and let's begin.
Hi, Susie! How are you today?
I'm good, Carol.
But I need a cup of coffee.
Well, you are in the right place!
I know!
What are you drinking?
I'm drinking a cup of hot tea.
Is tea your favorite drink?
Tea is one of my favorite drinks.
I like tea. But I really like coffee.
Gabe, how are you today?
Oh, Andrea, I'm good.
I'm just uh, ready to get started teaching this conversation.
OK, you said, "I'm good." That's the same thing Susie said in our conversation.
So it is!
Yeah, Carol said, "How are you?" Susie said, "I'm good." Now you can respond by
saying "I'm good." You can say: I'm fine, I'm well.
They all mean the same thing.
Well, Susie is good.
But she needs something.
What does she need, Gabe?
She needs something to drink.
She needs something that can help her wake up.
She needs a cup of coffee.
And we need to look at that key word.
coffee.
A coffee is something that you can drink.
Many people enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning.
Some people need coffee to have a good day.
Well, I do like coffee.
And I like all kinds of coffee.
Sometimes I just like a nice black coffee.
I don't need to add milk or anything else or sugar.
I just need coffee that will help me wake up.
Well, Susie needs a cup of coffee.
But she asks Carol, "What are you drinking?" She sees that Carol is drinking
something.
What are you drinking?
Let's look at our key word.
drink.
Now when you drink something, you are putting it into your mouth and into your
body.
You drink coffee.
You drink water.
You drink soda.
You drink juice.
And you drink other drinks like that.
So this word can also be a noun.
You can drink a drink.
And of course, a drink is anything like water that you put inside your mouth.
In this conversation, we see another key word that you can drink.
What is the key word?
That key word is "tea." Tea is a drink that you can enjoy.
Some people like hot tea.
Some... some people drink cold tea.
So tea and coffee.
Now in our conversation, we see "a cup of tea" or "a cup of coffee." I would
like a cup of tea, or I would like a cup of coffee.
But Gabe, can we say this in another way?
Yes. If you want to order one of these drinks, you can also say: I'd like a
coffee or I'd like a tea.
So you can say: I want a cup of coffee, or you can say: I want a coffee.
Yes. And we can do this with other drinks as well.
I'd like water.
Or, I'd like a cup of water.
I'd like juice.
Or, I'd like a cup of juice.
All right. So there are different ways to order drinks.
I'd like a coffee.
I'd love juice.
I'd like a cup of water.
Well friends, we have more to learn.
Let's go to Conversation B.
How is your coffee?
It's very good!
I love the coffee here.
You put milk in your coffee.
I sometimes put milk in my tea, too.
I also like sugar in my coffee!
I put sugar in my tea, too.
Do you like iced coffee? Or just hot coffee?
I like iced coffee in the summer.
Susie likes iced coffee in the summer.
Well Andrea, do you like iced coffee or hot coffee?
Iced coffee or hot coffee?
Yeah.
Well Gabe, actually, I don't really like coffee.
Oh. Uh, well then, do you like iced tea or hot tea?
Well, I like both.
But I like hot tea a little bit better.
All right.
Well, I have another question for you, Andrea.
Do you ever put anything inside of your tea?
Yes, I sometimes put milk in my tea.
I enjoy a nice cup of tea with a little bit of milk.
Well, that sounds good.
And we have a good key word here, friends.
It is: milk.
Now milk is something that you can drink.
A lot of the milk that we drink comes from cows.
I have tried goat's milk before.
And I didn't really like goat's milk.
No?
No. Do you like it?
I actually do like goat's milk.
Have you ever tried milk that comes from nuts, like almond milk?
Almond milk?
Yeah, I have tried that before.
Andrea, I like almonds.
But I don't like almond milk.
Oh, you don't like almond milk?
Yeah. You know what I do like, though?
I really like chocolate milk and strawberry milk.
Oh, and chocolate milkshakes.
Those are like ice milk with sugar.
And oh, it's delicious.
Ooh, yes, chocolate milk is delicious.
Gabe, did you know that brown cows give us chocolate milk?
Brown cows give us chocolate milk!
You learn something new every day!
Wait. Brown cows give us chocolate milk?
Well, maybe we don't have to teach that.
But we can remember that there are different kinds of milk.
There are different kinds of milk and yes, different kinds of cows.
Friends, I'm not sure if that's true.
I don't know if brown cows give us chocolate milk.
If you're a farmer, you can try.
Let's go to Conversation C right now.
Cold drinks are great in the summer.
Yes! In the summer, I get hot and thirsty.
Then I don't want a hot drink!
There's a little cafe near my house.
They sell the best smoothies.
I love fruit smoothies!
I do, too!
But I really like another kind of smoothie.
What's that?
A coffee smoothie!
I agree with Carol.
Cold drinks are great in the summer.
And people are often hot and thirsty in the summer.
Well, let's look at this key word together.
thirsty.
Say it with me.
thirsty.
Now when you are thirsty, that means you want something to drink.
Now Gabe, if you are really thirsty, what do you usually drink?
If I am really thirsty, well, the best thing to drink is water.
There are some other things I like to drink.
But some drinks will just make me even more thirsty.
Does that ever happen to you, Andrea?
You're thirsty so you drink something, and then you're even more thirsty.
That happens to me when I have very sweet drinks.
So if you're really thirsty, try drinking some water or some tea without sugar.
Well, we learned about another drink in this conversation - a smoothie.
Smoothies are delicious.
They are often made with milk and different kinds of fruit.
We also learned about a coffee smoothie.
Well, we have more to talk about today.
But first, let us go and review with Ginger and the Monkey Man.
Ginger, what's your favorite drink?
That's easy.
Wait. Don't tell me.
Let me guess.
OK, guess my favorite drink.
Is coffee your favorite drink?
No, it's not coffee.
Is milk your favorite drink?
No, it's not milk.
Oh, I know!
Is your favorite drink a fruit smoothie?
Yes, I love fruit smoothies.
Is your favorite drink a banana smoothie?
Yes. You guessed it.
I love banana smoothies.
That was easy.
Yeah. I can guess your favorite kind of drink.
You can?
Yeah. Is it tea?
Well, yes, it is.
I hope it's ginger tea.
Of course.
Because I'm Ginger.
That's funny, Ginger. Yeah.
Let's review today's key words together.
Say them with us.
The first one is: coffee.
coffee.
Howard has a cup of coffee every morning at work.

Ashley is drinking water.

Do you want green tea or black tea?

Hazel likes milk in her coffee.

Now it's time to take a break.
But we'll be right back.
