Let's Talk in English.
Hi, everyone, and welcome to a new month of learning together.
My name is Andrea.
And my name is Gabe.
And we are not sorry that you joined us here today.
No, we're not sorry.
We're very happy.
But the name of the lesson is I'm Sorry!
I'm Sorry!
Well, when do you say these words "I'm sorry"?
Of course when you did something wrong.
Maybe when you made someone feel bad.
Then you say, "I'm sorry." Well, don't worry about anything right now, friends.
You're not doing anything wrong.
You're doing everything right.
Open up your magazine.
Let's get started with today's lesson in Conversation A.
There's nothing to be sorry about here.
Hi, Lily!
Are you working?
Yes. I come here sometimes and work.
The Jungle Cafe is usually quiet.
Hey, Joe, can I get a Coke?
Oh, I'm sorry.
I was loud.
That's OK.
What are you working on?
Susie, can you please not talk to me now?
I have a lot of work.
Oh, sure, no problem.
So in this conversation, Lily and Susie are...
Gabe! Gabe!
Andrea, I am talking right now, and you are interrupting me.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, Gabe.
I just wanted to tell you something and...
Andrea! That's great!
You're sorry!
I am sorry.
Andrea, "sorry" is our key word.
Can you talk about it?
I can talk about it.
When you are sorry, that means you feel bad because of something you did.
You usually say "I'm sorry" if you did something wrong.
Well, sometimes we also say it if you did something wrong but you didn't mean
to.
That's right.
And in this conversation, Lily is trying to work, but Susie keeps doing things
that make Lily upset.
So Susie says, "I'm sorry." She said, "I'm sorry. I was loud." Well, when do you
say "I'm sorry"?
If someone says "I'm sorry" to you, what should you tell them?
Well, one thing you can say is no problem.
That means you understood their "I'm sorry," and it's OK.
So you say, "No problem." Gabe, I'm sorry about earlier.
Oh, Andrea, no problem.
You did a good job teaching the word.
And friends, you're doing a good job today.
Right now let's continue with Conversation B.
Susie, can you please turn off your music?
Or can you use earphones?
OK. I'm sorry.
Does my music bother you?
Yes.
I can't work and listen to music at the same time.
OK.
I play music in the office sometimes.
I know.
Then I come to the Jungle Cafe.
Oh, I am so sorry, Lily!
It's fine.
One, two, three!
(Music).
That's great music, Gabe, but...
We're talking about, we're talking about music today.
Uh-huh, I'm just going to turn Gabe off.
(Music).
There we go.
OK.
Well, we do want to hear more from Gabe, but I thought it was time to turn him
off so we can look at our key word.
Our key words are turn off or turn on.
Now when you turn something on, that means you want to use it.
You turn on the radio or turn on the TV.
I'm glad you turned on your radio or TV to join us today.
And when you're finished watching, well, then turn off the TV.
(Music).
Gabe! Gabe!
Hey, did I turn you on again?
Yes, you did.
You pushed the button.
Oh, I did.
OK. I'll keep you on right now.
Thank you. Thank you.
Well, yes, you can turn something on or turn something off.
Now, what else can you turn on?
If you want to listen to music, you can turn on the music.
Music is another key word here.
Do you like music?
It's not just talking.
People listen to different kinds of music every day.
That's right.
When you sing, you are making music.
When you listen to a CD, you are listening to music on that CD.
And I think Gabe makes some great music.
Gabe, let me turn your music on again.
Here we go.
(Music).
We're talking about music.
Yeah, you've got it, Gabe.
OK.
Off.
Thank you.
Now that is one kind of music called beatboxing.
But when I think of music, I usually think of the piano or the guitar or
different musical instruments that make music.
Well, friends, we have more to learn in Conversation C.
Susie, what are you doing?
I'm reading my magazine.
Well, please don't push my notebook.
Lily, your notebook is covering my magazine.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I didn't see that.
Don't worry.
You know?
I have an idea.
What's your idea?
I can move to a different table.
That's a great idea.
Thanks, Susie!
Well, Susie is reading her magazine, but Lily says, "Please don't push my
notebook." Andrea, you pushed me.
That's right.
I pushed you, Gabe.
Wait, why did you push me?
Well, because our key word is push.
Oh, you're right.
The key word is push.
Andrea, push me again.
There you go.
Thank you.
OK.
Thank you.
When you push somebody, you are making them move away from you.
You use... you're using your hands to push them away.
So Susie is reading her magazine, and she doesn't know it but she is pushing
Lily's notebook a little bit.
Yes.
So you might push your book as you are reading it if you need it a little
further away.
What are some other things that you push?
Well, I often push open a door so that I can walk through it.
Now of course you don't want to push people.
I just pushed Gabe because that's our key word.
But if you do push someone and you didn't mean to, it's good to say "I'm sorry".
It is good to say "I'm sorry" if you push someone.
But don't worry, friends.
I'm not upset.
I'm not angry at Andrea.
Don't worry about that.
Our next key word is worry.
If you worry about something, that means you are thinking about it.
You kind of feel bad.
You don't know how something will go.
Maybe if you have a speech and you are preparing for your speech, you might be
worried about it.
You don't know how it is going to go.
So you can say, "I'm worried about the speech." Then "worried" is an adjective.
Or you can tell a friend, "Don't worry about the speech." Then "worry" is a
verb.
Now let's review with Ginger and the Monkey Man.
So Ginger, what do you think about the show?
Ginger, what do you think about the show?
Shh! Quiet, please!
I'm reading my magazine.
Sorry.
(Music).
Monkey Man, please don't sing right now.
I'm reading my magazine.
Sorry, Ginger.
Hey, you know, I found a bunch of bananas...
Ah! Monkey Man, please don't talk to me now.
I'm reading my magazine.
OK. Sorry.
Why don't you sit someplace else?
OK. I guess I can move.
Great!
Then I can read my magazine.
Hey, wait a second.
Actually, Ginger, that's my magazine.
Hey.... wait, wait, come back!
All right, friends, it's time to review our key words.
The first one is...
sorry.
sorry.
I'm sorry. I did something wrong.
turn off or turn on.
turn off.
turn on.
Please turn off the light and go to bed.
music.
music.
Joe listens to different kinds of music.
push.
push.
Don't push your little brother!
worry.
worry.
Don't worry about me. I don't need any help.
Well, friends, you're doing a good job today.
Right now it's time to take a little break.
