Lights.
Camera.
Let's Talk in English.
Hey, everyone, and welcome to LTE TV.
My name is Gabe.
And my name is Andrea.
We are glad that you joined us today for a new week of learning together.
We are going to talk about new key words.
You will learn new ways to use the things that you learn.
You will learn new things about your friends here in the studio.
Yes, we are talking about new things.
Maybe you bought something new and want to tell a friend about it.
You want to talk about the new thing that you bought.
Talk about the color of it.
Is it light or dark?
Maybe it's light blue or dark green.
Well, there are many words that you can use to talk about new things.
And we will be doing that together today.
Now let's get ready.
Please open your magazine, find today's lesson.
Do you see Conversation A?
Yes? Well, great! Then, let's begin.
Hi, Lily.
Hi, Susie.
Is that a new bag?
It's new to me.
It was my mom's bag.
I like it.
It's a little big.
You can put a lot of things in it.
And the strap is a little long.
A long strap is good.
I don't like short straps.
Hey Gabe, is that a new hair style?
Uh no, Andrea.
But thanks for noticing my hair.
You like it?
I do. I... I like your style.
Thanks.
Gabe, is that a new tie?
Um well, yes. Actually, this... this is a new tie.
I really like this tie, Andrea.
I like it.
It looks really good. It looks really good.
Is that a new ...?
Is that a new bag?
Is that a new shirt?
Is that a new computer?
If you are interested in what someone has, and maybe you haven't seen it before,
then you can ask: Is that a new...?
Andrea, can you ask me if this is a new bag?
Oh, I can. I would love to.
Gabe, is that a new bag?
Well, it's new to me, Andrea.
I see.
It's not a new bag.
But someone gave it to me.
I started using it.
It's new to me.
It's new to me.
Now if you get something that someone else already used, well then it's not new.
But it's new to you.
So you can use this phrase.
It's new to me.
It's new to me.
I like getting things that are new to me.
I like it when friends give me a shirt that maybe they wore but don't want to
wear again.
It's new to me.
That's right, it's new to me, just like this bag.
And I really like this bag because the straps are great.
You can make the straps longer or shorter.
And I have different straps on this bag.
These straps will make it shut or open.
I see. Yeah, you do have a long strap there.
Well, our key word is "long." Now when you talk about something being long, you
talk about how you measure it.
A long strap is not short.
Long hair is not short hair.
A long road is not a short road.
You might drive for hours on a long road.
Well, we've talked a long time now, haven't we?
I think it's time for us to learn some more with Conversation B.
Good idea.
What about the color?
The color is great.
I like dark colors.
I don't really like the color.
I like light colors.
I like both.
This bag doesn't match my clothes.
It doesn't match your clothes?
That's OK.
My bags and clothes always match.
Mine don't.
Well, we found out that Lily's bags and her clothes always match.
So she likes to make sure that everything that she is wearing, including her
bag, matches.
Andrea, what does it mean to match?
Well, if things match...
Mmhm.
For example, if your clothes match, that means they look good together or they
go together.
Now not all styles match.
Not all colors match.
So if you care about your style, you want to make sure that you match.
That's right, not all styles match.
Not all colors match.
Don't wear stripes and little dots.
Those don't match.
Well friends, some things do match.
You want to wear things that do match, wear shoes that match your belt, wear
pants that match your shirt.
And we do have some key words here to talk about.
The first one here is: dark.
Susie says, "I like dark colors." If something is dark, that means it's not
light.
There's not a lot of light that you can see from something dark.
Black is a dark color.
Right.
And some people like to wear dark colors.
Their clothes are often dark colors.
So they don't like to wear things that don't match dark colors.
That's right.
And we see another key word here.
It's the opposite of dark.
It is "light." You can see a lot of light with light things, like a light blue
shirt.
I like going out when the weather is nice and the sky is very light.
It's not dark with clouds.
It is light.
Well Gabe, you are actually wearing a light color and a dark color together.
Your pants are light, but your shirt and your tie... well, they're dark.
That's right. I'm wearing light clothes and dark clothes.
And Andrea, do my clothes match?
Oh, your clothes match.
Gabe, you look great.
I like your style.
Well, thanks a lot.
Yes, I do try to make sure my clothes match.
Friends, it's time for us to continue now with Conversation C.
Feel this bag.
It feels fine to me.
Really? The bag is hard.
It doesn't feel too hard.
I like soft bags.
Do you like anything about this bag?
It was free.
Well, I like it.
Do you want it?
Sure!
Well, here. You can have it.
Really? Thanks!
Oh, I just love this scarf.
It feels so nice.
Hey Gabe, feel this scarf.
OK, I'll... I'll feel your scarf.
Hey, that is... That is a pretty nice and soft scarf, Andrea.
Yes, it is very soft.
I just love to feel this scarf.
It's so soft.
Well, that's a great soft scarf.
Uh, Andrea, feel this cup.
It's also very soft.
Uh Gabe, you think your cup is soft?
Well, it is, right?
Um... No, Gabe, this is not soft.
This cup is hard.
Oh, right. Yeah, it's a hard cup.
This is a hard cup.
That is a soft scarf.
Hard and soft.
Well, these are our key words.
Lily says that she likes soft bags.
I like to touch soft things as well.
If you touch something soft, it feels good or it's very comfortable.
A soft scarf around your neck is very comfortable.
It's nice to sit in a soft chair.
It can be very comfortable.
Or sleep on a soft bed with soft pillows.
That is more comfortable than sleeping out in a tent on the hard ground.
Right. That's true.
It's more comfortable to sleep in a soft bed with a soft pillow than on the hard
ground.
Well, let's talk about this key word.
hard.
Now if something is hard, that means it's not soft.
Rocks are hard.
Sometimes a bed can be very hard.
Some people like sleeping on a hard bed.
What are some other things that are hard?
Well, my clipboard is hard.
And if I want to write something down, I want to use something hard.
I will try to put the paper on something hard because have you ever tried to
write on a piece of paper on the back of your hand?
It just doesn't go very well.
It's hard to write on something soft.
Well, that's true.
Hard and soft.
Well, we've talked a lot about these key words.
And we have more to learn right now.
Well, we get to review some of what we've learned with Ginger and the Monkey
Man.
I want a new bag, too.
Oh, do you want a little bag or a big bag?
I want a big bag.
I can put a lot in a big bag.
OK. Do you want a bag with a short strap or a long strap?
Ooh, I want a bag with a long strap.
OK. Do you want a... a dark color or a bright color?
Oh, I want a bag that matches my clothes.
Ginger, you don't wear clothes.
Oh. Well, I want a bag that matches my fur.
OK, anything else?
Yeah, I want a bag filled with bananas.
I knew it.
Yeah.
Let's practice our key words together.
The first one is: long.
long.
Maria wears long skirts.
They cover her knees.
dark.
dark.
Black is a dark color.
light.
light.
Wear light colors when you are out in the sun.
hard.
hard.
This bed is too hard.
It is not comfortable.
soft.
soft.
This shirt is very soft.
It is comfortable.
Well, you did a great job with those key words.
Now let's take abreak.
