Hey, everyone, and welcome to the Saturday show of Let's Talk in English.
My name is Gabe.
I'm very glad that you could join us here today.
It is a review day.
What did you learn about this week?
You learned many key words, of course, from different lessons.
We learned how to talk about school days.
What is or was your favorite part about being in school?
Are you in a band?
Or maybe you are a cheerleader who likes to cheer at sports games.
Go, go, go!
We also learned about going on tours.
What do you do on your vacations?
Maybe you could travel somewhere, like Brazil or Japan or... or Egypt.
You could take those chances when they come.
Or of course, you could spend lots of money and go on a luxury tour.
Well, whatever you decide to do in the future, right now it's time to review.
So pay attention because I have some questions just for you in a moment.
Oh, that's my phone.
I have a new text message.
It's from Ashley.
Who?
My little sister.
She needs a ride home from school.
When does she get out of school?
You don't finish work until 5:00.
School ends at 3:10.
But she's staying after school.
She is practicing with the cheerleaders.
So Ashley is a cheerleader.
Yes. They cheer at all the basketball games.
Basketball doesn't start for two months.
That's good. They need practice.
Does Ashley like junior high?
Yes. She moves from classroom to classroom for different classes.
She likes that.
Does she like her teachers?
She likes most of them.
How many classes does Ashley have?
She has seven classes each day.
She only has half an hour for lunch.
That's a really short lunch!
It is.
And the cafeteria is really crowded.
She waits a long time in line for her hot lunch.
So she eats fast!
Yes, she does!
Sometimes she brings her lunch from home.
That's better.
Do you remember much about your junior high days?
Not too much.
My school didn't have many activities.
Ashley's school has a lot!
Like what?
Well, there's an international club.
The kids learn about different cultures.
That sounds fun.
There's a game club, too.
Kids play different kinds of games.
I'd like that.
Yes. Ashley belongs to that club.
She likes to play card games.
In junior high, I was in the drama club.
We put on two plays every year.
I wasn't in drama club.
I played in the band.
Sometimes we had practices before or after school.
What did you play?
I played the flute.
I really liked band.
But it took a lot of time.
Yes. I couldn't do many other activities.
You needed time to study.
I did.
I had about two hours of homework every night.
You're lucky!
I had a lot more.
There's my phone again.
I got another text.
Now Ashley doesn't need a ride home from school.
She's going home with someone else?
No. All the cheerleaders are going to eat pizza after practice.
She needs a ride home from the pizza place!
What are you doing, Carol?
I'm reading about different tours.
Tours? Are you planning a vacation?
Yes! My husband and I are planning a trip.
Where are you going?
We're going to Egypt!
Wow! Egypt!
That's an interesting country.
I know!
We can see and do many things there.
You can see the Pyramids!
I know! I'm so excited!
Did you choose a tour?
No! We're still thinking.
Some tours are cheap.
Some are expensive.
Tell me about one of the tours.
I'm reading about the "Exciting Egypt" tour now.
It's a 14-day tour.
On it, we can see all the important sights.
That tour must be expensive!
It is!
We can't pay that much for a tour!
The "Egypt in Eight Days" tour is good, too.
Can you see the Nile River on that tour?
Yes! And we can visit three cities.
We can visit museums and other sights, too.
You can learn about Egypt's history.
That's great!
Hi, Carol!
You're working late.
Oh, I'm not working, Susie.
I'm looking online.
I'm searching for the perfect tour for my husband and me.
Where are you thinking of going?
We want to go to Egypt!
That's fantastic!
I went on an Egyptian tour once.
Can I help you?
Yes, I would love your help!
OK. Let me ask you a few questions.
What sights do you want to see?
We want to see the Pyramids, of course.
I want to visit the Egyptian Museum, too.
OK. Most tours include both those places.
They're famous.
Right.
But on some of the tours, visitors can't spend much time in those places.
I don't want to rush!
I understand.
You may not have another chance to see Egypt.
You need more than 15 minutes at the Pyramids!
Right!
What tour are you looking at now?
The "Best of Egypt" tour.
We get two hours at the Pyramids and a half day at the Egyptian Museum.
That sounds pretty good!
What else do you want on your tour?
A nice hotel.
A small tour group.
Delicious food.
Oh, and I also want to take a cruise on the Nile River!
You're going to have a perfect tour!
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Today we're talking about luxury tours.
And our special guest is Ms. Tanya Tour.
Let's welcome her.
Thanks for joining us today, Ms. Tanya Tour!
Your company helps people go on very special vacations!
That's right.
I work for a luxury tour company.
Our customers visit the best places with the best guides.
And they enjoy the best hotels and best local food, don't they?
Yes. Our customers are very comfortable when they travel!
On a luxury tour, people do more than just see the sights.
You're right, Rob.
What else do people do on a luxury tour?
They get to experience special parts of a culture or place.
Give me an example.
On our Italy tour, our customers learn to make both gelato and pizza!
They make gelato and pizza?
How fun!
Luxury tour groups are small, too.
So people can do more unique things.
Wow. I'm ready for a luxury tour now!
I just need to save some money!
Going on a luxury tour is a unique experience.
On a luxury tour, customers don't just get on and off a tour bus.
They experience unique places and learn from the best guides.
Customers might experience a traditional part of a culture or learn how to make
a local treat.
They travel in small groups, stay in luxury hotels and eat delicious food.
On a luxury tour, people are always comfortable!
Hello, everyone.
I am here with Ginger.
And I'm here with Gabe.
Yes.
You know, Gabe, I was a tour guide once.
You? You, a tour guide?
I don't believe it.
Where?
I was a tour guide in the jungle... where I'm from.
That's silly!
Who would let a monkey be a tour guide?
My boss.
Oh, well, I would like to meet your old boss.
OK. But you have to go to the jungle.
She lives in the trees and eats bananas all day long.
Ah. Of course.
Your old boss was a monkey!
Well Ginger, we do have some review questions for everyone.
Now what is the first one?
Who is Ashley?
Who is Ashley?
Do you remember, friends?
That's right.
Ashley is Lily's little sister.
Now here's question number two.
Who is going to Egypt?
Who is going to Egypt?
I know! I know! Me! Me! Me!
Um, yes, you, you, you.
Who is going to Egypt?
Carol and her husband are going to Egypt.
And they're going to climb some trees and eat lots of bananas and play banana
ball.
No, no, no. Um, Ginger, I don't think Carol is going to climb any trees or play
banana ball.
But you got the answer right.
She and her husband are going to Egypt.
Very nice.
Well, here is a banana.
Let's take a little break.
Yeah! Thanks!
Yeah, you can have that, and eatit too.
