Hey, everybody.
Welcome to the Saturday show of Let's Talk in English right here at LTE TV.
My name is Gabe.
And it is the weekend.
Today is a review day.
What did we learn about this week?
Well, you learned how to talk about a new season.
That's right.
Do you have a jacket for the fall season?
Are the leaves changing colors around you?
What else did we talk about this week?
That's right, we talked about being tired.
What do you do if you can't fall asleep at night?
Do you wake up and try to count sheep?
Do you have a lack of sleep?
I hope not.
It's important to get sleep.
But some people in this week's lessons did not get enough sleep.
Well friends, let's review.
And pay attention.
Listen carefully because Ginger will be here soon.
And we have some review questions just for you.
See you soon.
Good morning, Susie!
Good morning, Rob.
Brr! I'm cold today.
Where's your jacket?
I didn't bring it!
The weather was warm yesterday.
I know. But the weather is changing.
It's autumn!
I'm glad. Autumn is my favorite season.
Why is autumn your favorite season?
I like autumn weather.
It's nice and cool.
It is. So bring your jacket tomorrow!
I also like fall because of pumpkins!
Do you eat them or decorate with them?
Both!
I like pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies and pumpkin coffee!
And don't forget pumpkin soup!
Delicious! I love pumpkin!
I like it, too.
So how do you decorate with pumpkins?
I put them in my kitchen, living room and on the balcony!
Do you carve pumpkins?
Yes! I carve faces or pictures on them.
And sometimes I paint them.
Fun!
Where do you buy your pumpkins?
I can buy them at the supermarket.
But I usually pick my own pumpkins at a pumpkin patch!
Do you go every fall?
I do!
When are you going?
Can I go?
Sure! Let's go this weekend!
Carol, do you want to go to Pete's Pumpkin Patch this weekend?
Rob and I are going.
The pumpkin patch?
Isn't that just for kids?
It's for adults, too!
You can pick your own pumpkins there.
And you can enjoy some apple cider.
I went to a pumpkin patch as a kid.
But I don't remember much about it.
I love the pumpkin patch.
What else can you do at the pumpkin patch?
You can go on a hayride around the field!
There's a corn maze, too!
A maze in a corn field?
How interesting!
You can also buy vegetables at the pumpkin patch.
You can buy honey and jam, too.
OK, I'll go with you!
I'll get a pumpkin and put it in front of my house.
Pete's Pumpkin Patch is about 30 miles from here.
We can enjoy the beautiful fall leaves on the drive there.
Yes! I love the leaves this time of year.
They're red, orange and yellow and so pretty!
Will you drive us to the pumpkin patch?
Yes, but you have a car, too.
I do.
But I want to look at the leaves, not the road!
Carol, why are you yawning so much?
I'm really tired.
I didn't sleep very much last night.
That's too bad.
Why not?
I had too many things on my mind.
I understand.
I can close my eyes.
But my mind doesn't stop.
That's right.
And then you can't sleep.
Did you get up and do something?
Did you read a book?
Did you stay in bed?
I stayed in bed.
I listened to the radio.
Did that help?
No. The songs were really good.
So I sang, too.
I listen to music without words.
Then I can sleep.
Good idea. I can try that next time.
What else helps you sleep?
Sometimes I count sheep.
That does not help me.
Sometimes I eat or drink something.
Then I can fall asleep.
Good idea.
I can drink a glass of milk or something.
So what was on your mind last night?
Are you worried about something?
Can I help you?
No. You can't help.
Hi, Lily.
Did you see Carol this morning?
Yes, I did.
I had to apologize to her.
I was late for work.
You were? Why?
I didn't sleep well last night.
I couldn't wake up this morning.
Carol didn't sleep well last night, either.
I'm worried about her.
Why?
Something is bothering her.
She won't tell me about it.
She'll be fine.
You are tired.
You're yawning a lot.
I know. I'm sorry.
What time did you go to bed?
It was almost 2 a.m.
Then you didn't get enough sleep!
Why did you stay up so late?
There was a really good movie on TV.
I stayed up and watched it.
What movie?
It was Mission: Impossible 4.
That is an exciting movie.
It was great.
But after the movie, I couldn't sleep.
I kept thinking about it.
So you're sleepy today.
Right. And so is Carol.
I know the reason.
You do?
Is she OK?
Is she worried about something?
No.
She stayed up and watched the same movie!
But she didn't want to tell you!
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Do you sleep enough?
Most people don't.
Our special guest today is here to talk to us about sleep.
Welcome, Ms. Nod.
Thank you for joining me today.
You're welcome, Rob.
We know everyone needs sleep to stay healthy.
Yes. Your body needs time to repair itself.
It does that when you sleep.
And we need sleep to give us energy for the next day.
Right. But most people don't sleep enough because we live in a 24/7 society.
Yes, we do!
I know I don't sleep enough.
May I tell you some more things about sleep?
Please do!
Not getting enough sleep shortens your life.
Lack of sleep makes you look older, too.
Really!
Also, too little sleep can make you gain weight.
Why is that?
You feel hungrier when you don't get enough sleep.
Everyone should try to sleep seven or more hours a night.
I know I will!
To stay healthy, you need enough sleep.
Your body repairs itself when you sleep.
Sleep also gives you energy for the next day.
But getting enough sleep is not easy because we live in a 24/7 society.
Lack of sleep can shorten your life.
And people who don't sleep enough can gain weight.
And you look older when you don't get enough sleep.
So be sure to get seven hours of sleep every night!
Well, hey again, everyone.
I am here with Ginger.
And I'm here with Gabe.
Yes. And you just reviewed a lesson on sleep.
Did you get enough sleep last night, Ginger?
Yes, I always get enough sleep.
I sleep 10 hours every night.
Whoa, whoa, 10 hours every night?
Why do you need so much sleep, Ginger?
Well Gabe, being a monkey is not easy.
I have to eat bananas, climb trees, eat more bananas, make monkey calls.
Eat some more bananas, do some monkey business, and eat bananas.
I'm tired.
Uh huh. That sounds like a very difficult life.
Well, you can't sleep now, little monkey.
I need some help with our review questions.
Number one is just for you.
Where are Rob, Susie and Carol going this weekend?
Ginger!
Pet's Pumpkin Patch!
They are going to Pete's Pumpkin Patch this weekend.
Very good.
Now what is your question for everyone?
Who watched Mission: Impossible 4 on TV this week?
Good question.
Who watched Mission: Impossible 4 on TV this week?
Were you paying attention?
That's right.
Lily and Carol watched Mission: Impossible 4 on TV this week.
They stayed up very late to watch it.
So they were both very tired.
Oh, it sounds like they have difficult lives, too.
Mmhm. Yes, very difficult.
They probably climbed some trees and ate some bananas while watching the movie,
too.
Ooh.
Life is not easy!
You have no idea, little monkey.
I think it's time for us to take a break right now.
Friends, we will beback.
