Hey, everyone, welcome to the Saturday show of Let's Talk in English right here
at LTE TV.
My name is Gabe.
And I'm glad you could join us here today.
It is a review day.
So we will review what we learned this week.
Now you learned how to talk about parks in English.
What do you do at a park?
You can play Frisbee.
Do you ever have picnics?
Or maybe you like to feed the little ducks in the ponds at a park.
You also learned how to talk about national parks.
The scenery at most national parks is beautiful.
You also learned how to talk about amusement parks.
Well, there are many different kinds of parks.
Amusement parks.
What kinds of rides do you like?
I like the ones that make me feel really dizzy.
I think they are exciting.
You also learned how to talk about caring for your eyes.
How's your eyesight?
Do you see clearly?
Do you need to wear glasses or contacts?
You also learned how to talk about skin care in English.
And the sense of touch is very important.
Well, it's time for us to review.
But pay attention because I have some questions just for you very soon.
Hey, Lily!
Let's go play Frisbee in the park.
Now?
Sure! Why not?
I'm not a very good Frisbee player.
That's all right.
We can just play for fun.
OK. We can play for a while.
Then let's do something else.
What else can we do?
We can feed the ducks in the pond.
All right.
What can we feed the ducks?
I have some crackers in my desk.
I can take those.
OK. Or we can buy some bread on the way to the park.
So we can play Frisbee and feed the ducks.
We can look for frogs too.
No thanks! I don't like frogs.
And we only have an hour for lunch.
Let's have a picnic in the park.
I didn't bring a lunch to work.
Neither did I.
So how can we eat lunch in the park?
We can buy a hot dog and sit on the grass and eat it.
I don't like that idea.
Why not?
I don't want just one hot dog.
I want three or four!
Hi, Lily. Look at the picture on this postcard.
Isn't it beautiful?
Yes, it is.
Where is the postcard from?
Yellowstone National Park.
My friend is there now.
The scenery is beautiful there.
It is.
I visited the park several years ago.
Yellowstone is famous for wild animals.
Did you see any bears?
Yes! I saw a black bear.
I took a picture of it.
What else did you see in Yellowstone?
I saw mountains and geysers!
I love the natural beauty of national parks.
Do you visit a lot of national parks?
I visit one every summer.
I want to see them all.
Are there a lot of national parks in America?
Yes. There are more than 300.
Then you need to visit more than one a year!
Other countries have national parks too.
I visited a national park in China.
What was it called?
The Yunnan Stone Forest.
Was it beautiful?
Yes! The tall stones created beautiful views.
Wow! There are so many places to see.
So many parks, so little time!
I know!
We don't have enough vacation time!
Hi, Rob. Are you still waiting for your guest?
Yes. He should be here any minute.
What is he going to talk about?
I forgot.
Amusement parks.
I love amusement parks!
The rides are great!
Not all of them.
I can't go on some of them.
They make me dizzy.
I love all amusement park rides!
The faster, the better!
We're going to talk about the best amusement parks in America.
Good! I know there are some fantastic ones.
I want to hear all about them.
So you can go to them?
That would be fun!
Which amusement park rides do you like best?
The roller coasters!
Lots of other people like those too.
There are always big crowds near the roller coasters.
I like the shows at amusement parks too.
Me too.
I saw a magician in one park who was fantastic.
I went to his show several times!
And I like the food at amusement parks too.
There are so many things to eat.
All those rides make me hungry!
Do you have a favorite amusement park?
No. I love them all!
Amber, can you read this sentence?
The words are so small!
Yes, I can read it, Susie.
You can't?
No, I can't see it clearly.
What does it say?
It says, "Call 555-2121 for more information.".
Thanks. I can't see well today.
Just today?
Or do you often have this problem?
Well, I couldn't see well last week either.
Maybe you need glasses or contacts.
Maybe I do.
When was your last eye checkup?
I had a checkup two years ago.
My sight was fine then.
Your sight can change!
You're right.
I should get another checkup soon.
Do you ever have headaches?
Sometimes. I had one yesterday.
That's another reason to get an eye checkup.
When things are far away, can you see them clearly?
Usually I can.
But when small things are too close, they're hard to see.
So reading small words is not easy for you.
These days it's not.
Get a checkup soon.
You probably need glasses or contacts.
You'll see better with them.
And I'll read better with them too!
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Our guest for today is Dr. Simon Skin.
Let's welcome him.
Dr. Simon Skin, tell me something interesting about skin.
Skin covers and protects the body.
Skin is the body's largest organ.
Interesting!
When I think about skin, I often think about the sense of touch.
That's right. Our skin allows us to feel things.
What else does skin do?
It keeps our bodies at the right temperature.
Our skin can heal itself quickly too!
Our skin does a lot for us.
How can we protect our skin?
Wash your skin well every day.
Clean skin is healthy skin.
What are some common skin problems?
Many people have dry skin.
Sometimes soap can make people's skin even drier.
Lotion can help with this.
How can people protect their skin from the sun?
Wear sunscreen!
Hats and umbrellas also help.
Your skin is your body's largest organ.
It covers your body and keeps it at the right temperature.
Your skin gives you your sense of touch.
It helps you to feel things.
Your skin can also heal itself quickly.
Your skin protects you, so you should protect it too.
Wash your skin with soap and warm water each day.
Use lotion when your skin is dry.
Protect your skin from the sun with sunscreen, a hat or an umbrella.
Well hello, everyone.
I am here with Ginger and...
And I'm here with Gabe and my umbrella.
Yes. Yes, you are.
And it's a nice, big, yellow umbrella.
Now it's time for some review questions.
The first one is: Who will feed some ducks in a pond this week?
Were you paying attention?
I was! I was!
And Ken and Lily will feed some ducks in a pond.
Great job, Ginger.
Now what's your question for us?
Let's see...
What amusement park rides does Ken like the best?
What amusement park rides does Ken like the best?
Well, the same ones I do.
He likes the roller coasters.
Ooh, those are scary.
Yeah, they are.
But they're pretty fun.
Now Ginger, why are you holding an umbrella?
I'm protecting my skin.
But Ginger, you're a monkey.
So? Monkeys are important too.
Well, I know that.
But what I mean is you don't need an umbrella because your fur protects your
skin.
Oh, haha. You're right.
You need this more than I do.
Uh, why do I need the umbrella?
Because you're going on a roller coaster in the sun!
Well, maybe I will.
But for right now, let's take a little break.
I like thatidea.
