Well hello, everyone.
And welcome to the Saturday show of Let's Talk in English right here at LTE TV.
My name is Gabe.
And I'm glad you could join us for today because today is a review day.
Now what did you learn this week?
You learned the difference between a regular computer and a tablet computer.
With a tablet, you can just touch the screen, and you don't need a mouse.
You also learned about computer passwords in English.
How many characters do your passwords have?
What is your password?
Can you tell me your password?
No? OK, forget it.
Well, you also learned how to talk about walking for exercise.
Do you ever walk?
Do you ever go on walks other places?
You also learned how to talk about biking or riding a bike.
Remember, if you are going to go biking, wear a helmet.
Helmets will protect your head in an accident.
But of course, I hope you don't get into any accidents.
Be careful.
You also learned what people do at a gym.
What do you do at a gym?
When do you go to the gym?
Well, we're going to review our lessons right now.
But pay attention because Ginger and I have some questions just for you in a
moment.
Hi, Ken. Look at this computer!
A tablet! Tablets are fun!
I really like this one.
It's so small!
I can hold it in one hand.
I have a tablet computer too.
You can do many things on it.
The screen is great.
I know.
Can you show me some things on this one?
Sure! That's easy.
I just touch the screen.
Then I can do things. Is that right?
Yes. You don't need a mouse.
What are all of these little pictures?
They're apps.
Touch this one.
Then you can play Angry Birds!
Is that a fun game?
Yes! It's my favorite game!
How many apps are there?
There are thousands!
How do I type something?
You type on a keyboard.
Where is it?
Right here.
Oh! It appears on the screen.
Yes. So when did you get this computer?
This afternoon.
Was it expensive?
I don't know.
Why not?
It's not mine.
This is my friend's computer!
Hello, friends, welcome to Let's Talk!
Today we have an old friend with us.
Let's welcome Mr. Tech.
Thank you for coming to our show, Mr. Tech.
You're welcome, Rob.
I enjoy your show a lot.
Thank you.
What can you tell us about computer passwords?
How do you create a good one?
That's a good question.
First, don't use personal information as a password.
Your birthday or your pet's name are not good passwords.
People can guess them.
Does a good password have uppercase and lowercase letters?
Yes. It often has numbers or special characters in it too.
You can put those in the middle of the password.
How long should a password be?
It should be eight characters or more.
Any other tips?
Yes. Don't use the same password for everything.
People have many passwords.
How can they remember them?
Good passwords are hard to remember.
Should people write them down?
No! But you can write down clues.
Like what?
Like "favorite song and year." Then you know the password has that information
in it.
That will help you remember it.
Oh! Good idea. Thanks for the tip!
Do you exercise, Lily?
I do, Amber. How about you?
I do. I walk a lot.
It's good exercise.
It is. I walk a lot too.
And it's easy. You can walk every day.
Yes. You can walk to many places.
I walk to the supermarket sometimes.
It's near my house.
I exercise every day.
Do you walk every day?
Yes. I walk five times a week.
And I usually walk about two miles.
Good for you.
I walk in the park sometimes.
But I only walk in nice weather!
I know. Walking in bad weather isn't fun.
I walk in the mall in rainy weather!
Great idea!
Do you walk to work?
Sometimes I do.
But sometimes I drive.
I drive too.
Work is about five miles from my house.
I see.
But I always walk up the stairs in my apartment building.
I live on the second floor.
That's a good idea.
But I don't do that.
Why not?
I live on the 10th floor!
What are you doing on Saturday, Amber?
I don't have any plans, Susie. Why?
Do you want to go biking?
Maybe. Where are you going?
We're going to bike around Pine Lake.
It's a great place to bike.
Who's going?
Rob, Ken, Lily and a few other friends.
How far is it around Pine Lake?
It's about 25 miles.
25 miles!
You can bike 25 miles.
That's easy.
Is the path flat?
Yes. There is only one big hill.
I don't like to pedal up hills.
You'll be fine.
We won't go fast.
And we'll stop and rest.
That's good!
And the weather will be really nice on Saturday.
So when we bike, we'll get really hot!
We won't get too hot.
We'll stop and swim in the lake!
Fun!
Will everyone wear a helmet?
Of course. Helmets keep you safe.
Helmets are also hot.
Maybe. But they protect your head in an accident.
True.
OK, I'd like to go with you.
That's great!
There's just one problem.
What's that?
I don't own a bike!
Hi, Rob. What's wrong?
Why are you walking funny?
I'm sore. My muscles hurt.
Why? What have you been doing?
Well, I joined Gino's Gym last week.
Good for you!
Getting regular exercise is necessary for good health.
I know. Exercise is good for me.
But I don't feel very good right now!
You must be exercising too much.
I've been to the gym every day this week.
Every day? You need to take a day off.
Maybe so.
What do you do at the gym?
Well, I lift weights, and I use the exercise machines.
I also play basketball.
You've done that every day this week?
Yes. I spend about two hours at the gym after work.
No wonder you're sore!
Getting regular exercise is important for good health.
Many people know that, so they join a gym.
They can go to the gym before or after work and on weekends.
At the gym, people can do many things.
They can lift weights and use exercise machines.
They can join an exercise class.
They can play basketball or swim too.
But sometimes people exercise too much.
Then they feel sore.
Hello, everyone. I'm here with Ginger and...
And I'm here with Gabe.
Yes. Now Ginger, do you ever go to the gym?
Sure!
Really? Do you do exercises there?
No. I play on the monkey bars.
What? Gyms don't have monkey bars, silly.
Gino's Gym does.
And now I'm really... sore.
Oh. Well, are you too... sore to give us some review questions, Ginger?
No. I can do that.
Question number one.
When did Carol buy her tablet computer?
When did Carol buy her tablet computer?
Do you remember?
Were you paying attention?
That's right. On Monday.
That's not correct.
What? That's not correct?
No. The answer is: She didn't buy a tablet.
She was using her friend's tablet in Monday's lesson.
Oh! Well, you are a tricky little monkey.
Hmm. Well, here's question number two just for you.
What floor does Lily live on?
What floor does Lily live on?
She lives on the 10th floor.
Hey! You're right!
Right, the 10th floor, so she must be sore.
Uh, wait. Why would she be sore, Ginger?
Because she has to walk 10 floors to get to her apartment.
No, silly. She uses an elevator!
All right, I think it's time to take a break.
Why? Is your brain getting sore?
What? No. Very, very funny, little monkey.
Let's take a break.
My brain's not gettingsore.
