Lights.
Camera.
Let's Talk in English.
Hi, everyone, and welcome to LTE TV.
My name is Andrea.
And I am Gabe.
We're very glad we could join you and that you could join us for today's lesson
called: A Sweet Tooth.
A Sweet Tooth.
Hmm, what is a sweet tooth?
Well, if you have a sweet tooth, that means you enjoy eating sweet things
sometimes.
I think many people have sweet teeth.
Yes, you can say you have a sweet tooth if you like eating desserts, like
cookies and doughnuts and other treats like apple pie.
Oh, there are so many different kinds of sweet desserts.
And we're going to learn about them today.
So let's get started.
Open up your magazine and let's go to Conversation A.
Hi, Rob. Would you like a cookie?
Sure, Susie. I love cookies!
Wait, what were you just eating?
A doughnut. I love doughnuts too.
You've eaten a doughnut every day this week!
I know. There's a new doughnut shop near my apartment.
Their doughnuts are so good!
Well, here's another treat for your sweet tooth.
Thanks, Susie.
Well, it sounds like Rob really does have a sweet tooth.
That means he really likes to eat sweet things.
He often thinks about eating sweet things.
He wants to eat sweet things like cookies or doughnuts or other sweet treats.
We have three key words here.
The first one is "cookie." What is a cookie?
It is something delicious that you can bake in the oven.
I like baking cookies.
They are sweet... most of the time.
There are many different kinds of cookies.
Hmm, there are.
I enjoy peanut butter cookies.
Those are so good!
Ooh, they are so good.
Actually, I really like peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies.
Oh, Andrea, can you please bake some peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies
for us?
Well, OK, I can. I can bake some cookies.
But Gabe, I didn't think you had a sweet tooth.
Well, I don't really have a sweet tooth.
But I do like sweet things every once in a while.
I also like doughnuts.
Say that key word with me.
doughnut.
Good job.
A doughnut is something round with a hole inside.
It is made from a kind of bread.
And it is also very sweet.
I want a doughnut right now.
Andrea, I'm going to get a doughnut.
Uh Gabe, you... you can't get a doughnut right now.
You'll have to wait a little bit because we have some more things to talk about.
Now a doughnut is delicious.
But doughnuts are fried.
So you don't want to eat too many doughnuts.
Maybe have one doughnut and one cookie when you want a sweet treat.
Well, what is a treat?
That's another key word.
"Treat" is a word that you use to talk about things that you enjoy.
So if you enjoy eating something, it is a treat.
It's not a regular meal like lunch or dinner.
It's a special treat.
Well, we have a treat for you.
It is Conversation B.
Let's enjoy that together.
So how's the cookie?
It's great! Did you make these cookies?
Yes. They were easy.
I just stirred sugar, butter, chocolate and other ingredients together.
And then you baked them?
No. They are called "no-bake cookies"!
Well, they're delicious.
Thanks! Hey, I'm making a pie this weekend.
Should I bring you a piece on Monday?
Yes, please! I love desserts!
Well, Rob is going to enjoy many delicious sweet treats.
We find out that he likes desserts.
So let's talk about this key word.
A dessert is something that you eat after your meal.
So you have lunch.
But if you want something sweet, you can have dessert.
So a cookie can be dessert.
What else can be a kind of dessert?
Pies, cakes, ice cream.
These are all different kinds of desserts.
What's your favorite dessert?
Talk about it today in English.
And our next key word is "stir." Now when you are cooking and you mix different
things together,
the action is "stir." You stir together the ingredients.
You stir sugar, butter, chocolate and other ingredients together to make no-bake
cookies.
No-bake cookies are delicious.
And pies are also delicious.
This is our last key word today.
A pie is something that you can bake in the oven.
A pie is usually round.
And there are different kinds of pies.
I like pumpkin pie and apple pie and pecan pie.
Do you like to eat pie, Andrea?
I enjoy pie.
My favorite kind of pie is lemon pie.
And it is delicious.
It's one of my favorite desserts.
Well, what is one of your favorite desserts?
What's your favorite kind of pie?
Well friends, it's time for us to continue with our Read It paragraph.
Do you have a sweet tooth?
If you do, you might enjoy doughnuts for breakfast.
You may eat a cookie for a snack.
And you like pie or cake after dinner.
Do you ever make desserts?
You can mix sugar and butter, and then stir in other ingredients.
It's fun to bake special treats and share them with others.
Just be careful.
If you eat too many sweet treats, you can have health problems.
Well, in this paragraph we learned all about making different kinds of treats -
sweet treats.
Now Andrea, do you ever make treats?
Yes, I do. I enjoy baking sweet treats.
I enjoy eating them.
But I also enjoy giving treats to my family and friends.
Well, they are delicious.
Now here's another question for you.
Do you ever go hiking outside in the mountains?
Yes, I often go hiking in the mountains.
Gabe, do you ever eat doughnuts for breakfast?
Do I ever eat doughnuts for breakfast?
Yes, sometimes I do eat doughnuts for breakfast, but not every day.
Oh, that's probably a good idea.
Yes.
Well friends, you saw that phrase in this paragraph.
Do you ever make desserts?
Do you ever do something?
Think of your own sentences that use this phrase, and practice it in English
today.
Well, right now it's time for us to continue.
We're going to learn something and have some fun with the Monkey Man and Ginger.
So here we go.
Hey, Monkey Man, do you have a sweet tooth?
Oh, yes! I love to eat sweet things.
Ooh, what kind of sweets?
Well, all kinds.
I like cookies and doughnuts and pies.
Do you like cake and ice cream too?

Wow, you really do have a sweet tooth.
I do.
How about you, Ginger?
No, I don't have a sweet tooth.
I love bananas.
