Well hello, everyone, and welcome to LTE TV.
This is our Saturday show.
And I am Gabe.
I'm glad you could join us for today, as we will review this week's lessons.
We learned about a lot this week.
Do you remember everything we talked about?
Well, you might want to open your magazine as we review each lesson, beginning
with Animals on a Farm.
We learned about different animals on a farm like sheep and goats, cows, horses.
You can see these animals when you are visiting a farm.
Now what's an important job?
A farmer has an important job.
We also learned about other important jobs from this week's lessons.
Tell me about your job.
The last lesson is An Unusual Job.
Do you remember what that unusual job is?
Pay attention.
Listen carefully.
Ginger will be here soon, that cute little monkey.
And we have some questions just for you.
Farms are out in the country.
Many different kinds of animals can live on a farm.
The animals are important.
Cows and goats give milk.
Chickens and ducks lay eggs.
Sheep have wool.
Dogs protect the farm from wild animals.
Dogs are also good pets!
Some animals become food.
Pigs and cows get fat.
Then people eat or sell them.
What are you looking at, Amber?
I'm looking at pictures of my parents' new animals.
New animals?
Yes. My parents own a farm.
Oh! They have new farm animals!
Yes. They have a new little goat.
Isn't she sweet?
Can goats be sweet?
Yes. And my parents have some new chickens.
They lay a lot of eggs.
That's good.
Here is a picture of their new pig.
He's so little.
My parents feed him a lot.
He will be fat soon.
What other animals are on your parents' farm?
They have a lot of cows.
They sell the milk.
That's good.
And here is their new puppy.
Oh! I love dogs!
Me too!
What can you do when you visit a farm?
You can see farm animals and maybe help feed some of them.
You might get to ride a horse!
You can talk to a farmer and ask him about his work.
Go out to the fields and look at the corn, wheat, beans or other plants.
Farmers grow many kinds of crops.
And you'll probably get dirty, because there is usually mud on a farm.
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
We have a very special guest with us today.
Let's welcome Farmer John!
Farmer John, you're doing something fun at your farm this month.
That's right, Rob.
We're having "Breakfast on the Farm" every Saturday morning.
What can people expect when they go there?
They can expect a delicious breakfast... on the farm!
I'm sure! What else?
They can walk around and look at the plants, like corn and beans.
And they'll see lots of animals!
I like animals.
Do you have any horses, Farmer John?
Oh, sure! You can feed them apples.
Or you can ride one if you want.
That sounds fun.
Just don't fall off into the mud.
You'll get dirty!
OK! Anything else?
Kids can pet the animals, like sheep and goats.
That's great.
And... people can talk to a real farmer!
That's me!
Think about some important jobs in your city or town.
Police officers and firefighters have important jobs.
Police officers protect people.
Firefighters do too.
They put out fires.
Teachers have an important job too.
They teach young people.
They teach their students important skills.
What about garbage collectors?
They are also important.
They take your garbage away.
Then your neighborhood stays clean.
Hi, Susie! How are you today?
I'm busy!
I'm doing a story on "Heroes of Our City.".
Who are you interviewing for the story?
I interviewed a police officer yesterday.
A police officer's job is important.
It is! Police officers protect us!
Who else are you interviewing?
I will interview a teacher tomorrow.
Teachers help kids learn important skills.
Teachers are important.
Teachers have a hard job.
They teach young people all day.
True.
But garbage collectors have really a hard job!
They deal with garbage all day!
You're right about that!
And I interviewed two firefighters this morning.
But they couldn't talk long.
Why not?
Because there was a fire!
What exactly do some people do at work?
You think some jobs are easy.
But they are actually a lot of work!
Think about your teacher.
She doesn't just teach your class.
She plans her lessons before she teaches.
She checks homework.
She grades tests and quizzes.
She helps choose good books, magazines and other resources for you.
She wants to help you learn.
So she spends a lot of time preparing for class.
Susie, is everything OK?
Not really.
I planned to interview a teacher today.
But she didn't finish preparing her lessons for tomorrow.
So she can't meet me.
I'm sorry.
I need to know more about a teacher's job so I can report on it.
Maybe you can talk to me.
You? You're not a teacher.
No, but my sister is!
I can try to answer your questions.
OK! That's great!
My sister works hard!
She checks homework every day.
And she grades quizzes and tests too, of course.
Yes. She spends a lot of time preparing for class.
How long does she spend on her lesson plans?
She spends about 30 minutes on each lesson.
That's a lot of time!
She also chooses good books and magazines for her students.
Wow. Teachers are very busy people!
Have you ever heard of a tea taster?
Tea tasters sample teas to test their quality.
They taste tea from a spoon.
This helps the tea taster to discover the flavor and taste of the tea.
They do this to help tea companies buy the best tea.
Tea tasters must take very good care of their taste buds.
They can't eat spicy food, and they can't smoke!
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Let's Talk!
Today we're talking about unusual jobs.
And our guest has an unusual job.
Let's welcome her. Tammy Tea!
How long have you been a tea taster, Tammy Tea?
I've been a tea taster for about five years.
You must love tea.
I do. I enjoy sampling different teas from around the world.
Do you sample tea from a cup?
Oh, no. I use a spoon.
Why?
It helps me to discover the taste better.
So a spoon helps you test teas.
Then you choose the teas with the best quality.
That's right.
I see. Who do you work for?
I work for a tea company.
I travel all over the world and try different teas.
You must eat really good food when you travel.
Yes, but I can't eat spicy food!
I have to protect my taste buds!
Hello, everyone. I'm here with Ginger and...
And I'm here with Gabe.
And we have some review questions just for you.
OK. What does Tammy Tea use to sample tea?
A cup, a spoon, or something else?
What does Tammy Tea use to sample tea?
Were you listening?
She uses a spoon.
Great job.
Now do you have a question for us, Ginger?
Yes. Number two.
Susie interviewed two firefighters this week.
Why couldn't they talk long?
Why couldn't the firefighters talk long?
Do you know?
That's right.
Because there was a fire.
Yes, they had to do their job and put the fire out.
That's right.
And you always do a good job, Ginger.
Now what's next?
Well, it's time to take a break.
That's right, let's take a break.
Yeah, bananabreak.
