Lights.

Let's Talk...
In English.
My name is Andrea.
And my name is Gabe.
Today we are starting a new week.
And we're starting by talking about animals.
I like animals.
I have a cat at home.
Actually, I live with two cats.
Some people have dogs.
Maybe you have a dog or a cat or... or a fish.
What are some other kinds of animals, Andrea?
Well, there are also farm animals.
OK.
So we can talk about cows and chickens and pigs and goats and horses and
rabbits.
These are all animals on a farm.
That's right, Animals on a Farm.
That's the name of our lesson today.
So let's get started.
Open your magazine, and here we go.
Farms are out in the country.
Many different kinds of animals can live on a farm.
The animals are important.
Cows and goats give milk.
Chickens and ducks lay eggs.
Sheep have wool.
Dogs protect the farm from wild animals.
Dogs are also good pets!
Some animals become food.
Pigs and cows get fat.
Then people eat or sell them.
Cows, goats, chickens, dogs, pigs, sheep.
Uh, yes, we are finding out a lot about animals today - animals on a farm.
So I'm going to do something different.
I'm going to make Andrea guess which key word I'm talking about by using
different sounds.
OK, Andrea, are you ready?
Oh, I am ready for this game.
All right. All right.
Well, which key word... which animal am I?
What's... what's that?
I know! I know, Gabe, you are a dog.
That's right, I am a dog.
Well, I made the sounds that a dog makes.
That's a key word.
Of course you know what a dog is.
A dog, when it's little, is called a puppy.
And I think dogs and puppies are very cute.
And you do find dogs on a farm.
Dogs on a farm protect the farm and the other animals from wild animals.
So a dog is a farm animal.
But you might have a dog or dogs in your home.
Dogs are also animals that people often have as pets.
That's right.
Now most of these other animals, most people don't have as pets.
But you can find them on a farm.
Let's see if Andrea can guess this next one.
That's... that's interesting. OK.
Do you think you know what Gabe is right now?
Maybe a little more, Gabe. A little more.
I know. I know. Gabe is a chicken.
Yes, Gabe is a chicken.
That's a wonderful key word.
And chickens, of course, are farm animals.
But yes, you can use chickens for other things too.
I like to eat chicken.
But chickens are very interesting animals.
They are birds, but they're birds that cannot fly.
Right, they can't fly.
But they can lay eggs.
Do you like to eat eggs?
I enjoy having some eggs for breakfast.
Well, you have to thank a chicken for those eggs.
That's right.
And you can thank this next animal for giving you pork.
OK, this next animal, I'm going to see if Andrea can guess this.
All right.
Um, this is hard. This is hard.
Oh. I see that your nose is up.
You kind of look like a pig.
That's right. Thank you. I look like a pig.
Well, you sounded like a pig as well, OK?
Thank, Andrea.
So a pig is a farm animal.
And I like pigs too.
I like watching movies about pigs, like Babe.
That was a good movie about a cute little pig.
Yes. And pigs are important on a farm.
And they're also important if you like to eat pork.
P-O-R-K, pork is what we call the meat that comes from a pig.
Now Gabe, you're having a lot of fun.
But do you think that I could maybe try the next animal?
OK, OK.
OK?
Please do.
This is a farm animal, and it sounds like this.
OK.
Andrea.
Yeah?
You just sound like yourself.
I'm just kidding.
Gabe!
Andrea, that was a joke.
Andrea, that is a cow, right?
You're right.
A cow.
And what meat comes from a cow?
Beef comes from a cow.
B-E-E-F, beef comes from a cow.
And milk also comes from cows.
And you can also get milk from goats.
"Goat" is the last key word.
And that sounds kind of like this.
Yeah, goats are kind of like sheep.
They kind of sound similar.
They do sound similar.
Goats are usually a little bit bigger than sheep.
But they're important on a farm.
And we have more important things to learn from Christina.
(Chinese).
Mr. Monkey Man, what kind of animals live on farms?
Hmm, cows live on the farms.
They give milk.
Ooh, cows. What else?
Uh, chickens. Chickens live on the farm.
They lay eggs.
Oh, chickens. What else?
Oh, sheep. Sheep live on the farms.
They have wool.
Sheep. What else?
Uh... Oh, dogs live on the farms.
They protect the farm.
Dogs. What else?
Aha. Pigs live on the farms.
Farmers feed them, and they get fat.
Hey, I want to be a pig on a farm.
Then people eat them.
Oh. Never mind. I want to be a monkey.
Poor pig.
OK, let's review these key words and the sounds they make.
cow.
cow.
Good.
We get milk from cows.
goat.
goat.
Some people drink milk from goats.
chicken.
chicken.
There are chickens on this farm. They lay eggs.

Our family has two pets. We have a dog and a cat.
And pig.
Lovely.

The pig eats a lot. He is fat!
Well hey, friends, I think it's time now to practice English with some music.
It's time for Sing and Say.
Hey, hey, hey, the Black Pearl here with the amazing DJ Prince and teacher Gabe.
And it's time for Sing and Say.
Sing and Say.
Are you ready to play?
Mmhm. Are you?
Here we go.
When you hear me Sing and Say.
You try to sound the same.
Say these words again today.
That's how you play the game.
Uh huh, yeah.
Yeah.
Sing and Say.
cow. Sing.
